@earthpart3 Luckily for me I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and they covered it with a small copay, no issues at all. I think my copay was around 3800 dollars. A lot of people have the same issue as you, they have to keep appealing and appealing and usually the insurance company will give in after a while. I just had this surgery done on December 6th, it was pretty rough the first week.
Man! finally somebody posted videos about ortognathic surgery that are helpful and believable. Im having surgery in about 6-8 months and i was really apprehensive about it but dude, you have encouraged me sooo much, hahaha. Thanks man
i just got done with my jaw surgery. They moved my upper forward 8mm and they took back my lower 9mm. I am wired shut for 6 weeks, I have 2 more to go. I am glad to see that your surgery was successful.
They cut open my upper jaw and alingn it foward and they place metalic implants to hold it in the new place and the aligned my lower so it fit behing the upper jaw. I never had that thing you had around my neck. But recovery was slow.
nice vid.. bro it will help a lot , iam from phillipines and i desperately needed a surgery like u did, but i dont have funds to deal w/ it.. but anyway .. i watch your vid.. and i will not lose hope. thanks ur vid inspired to deal w/ my jaw... takecare ,,,
dude i almost got teared up ..I cant believe how much of a difference this made!! i need to get this surgery done..but what does the nose have to do with it??
Upper jaw moving forward pulls out your cheek bones and cause your nose and sinus to shift outward and up a bit to fit with the new position of your face :) Thanks man for watchin' I wish you the best!
not sure... I'm going to ask on monday. I know they have biodegradable screws now made of lactic acid, but not sure what he used. I know the plates are titanium.
Hey bro i got a quick question, i had both top and bottom surgery and my splint was taken out last thursday. What i noticed is that now i have sort of a lisp......where you the same way?Its really starting to freak me out b/c my lisp is worse than it was when i had an underbite and that kind of brings me down :( Do you think i just need to get used to talking or somthing?
I still have my splint in... but I have heard that it gives you one when you talk. try to relax your tongue more and use your teeth to block the air passage you used to block with your tongue when you had the underbite. it should take some getting used to and then go away
Thats what i thought was going on but it seams that my bite really isnt biting down all the way, meaning i still have a little bit of a crossbite in the back resulting in little gaps.My surgeons decided not to widen the top jaw due to the fact the positions of my teeth where too close and cutting the pallet might damage the roots. They mentioned fixing the rest with braces so i hope that fixes my speech....im already starting to pronounce words alot better so thats a plus.
im having the same surgery as u top an bottom an to look at u before the op our bottom half of our face looks the same, cant wait till the surgery how long before u have the surgery prior to having the braces on????
hey thanks you guys, so im not the only one that has/had this problem! my doctor said its rare that this has happened, but it does happen, like a bruise he said from bumping it around during surgery. he said he knows for a fact he didnt cut the nerve to my tongue, thank god! but he also said it could come back in a week or longer, only time will tell. jealousybust- is yours still numb today?
Yeah. Your mouth also has less space now so let alone is it numb/swollen, but it's going to feel a bit big as well. Especially if you have a splint on the roof of your mouth.
my tounge was numb, it feels swollen b/c of that.I kno what you mean when you say it drives you insane also lol.Dont worry it will come back in a couple weeks.

ughh i have to get this surgery. so when you say it pi;;s out your cheek bones does that mean it can give your face a more defined look?

How does anyone afford this? Most dental insurances don't cover it because they see it as "cosmetic". What a joke.

i had this done, a week ago today and the swelling isnt half of what it was
my jaw doesnt hurt at all
i found the only thing that really bothered me was my throat from having the tube in there during the surgery
but as you said in your previous vids, the 3rd day was the worst after that, so much better
