  • awesome i love old music only!!

  • I was 12 years old when this song came out. And everyone that is around my age knows that we were blessed with this song and so very many others that captured the essence of youth, innocence, and love. The lyrics were good and the beat was catchy and you could dance to it. My God we were lucky! For those of you who are coming of age now: Listen to your parent's old record albums. This was how pop and rock are supposed to sound!

  • Good for you, 15-year-old girl!! What a comforting feeling for a dude like me that was born in 1962. Yes, the music today sucks compared to the 60's and 70's (even the 50's for that matter).

  • Kinda like "Where Bambi goes, nothing grows".

  • shallow hal anyone!!!!!

  • ROSEMARY TELESCOOO </3

  • I remember this being in the charts in the UK in March 1970. I used to hear it played on the RAF Station radio whilst sitting on my bed polishing my brasses and boots!

  • If i lived in the 70's, i definatley would've had a buzzcut

  • This is fantastic to see some good material from that period!

  • lead singer looks like every guy i had a crush on in high school...

  • @imaginationunreal I know right lol :) NICE HAIR THESE GUYS HAD BUT THE CLOTHES OH MY

  • Ive been looking for this song for months, heard a bit of it on a commercial but just couldnt find it. Im so damn happy right now when i found it by a coincidence! just love it :D

  • We can only have ONE favorite song in our ENTIRE life. This is mine. If it is yours, then maybe give a thumbs up.

  • This song takes me back to such an innocent time of my life....I love it.

  • I'm a lucky fella cause I grew up to this music! :)

  • The first song I ever put on a juke box in a caff before going off to a big football match (we won!). It's still great feel-good stuff. This just brings back so many great memories of great times. Thanks for posting.

  • Lovin Andy Locke...I wonder how old he is now?

  • Many of the songs today are covers of songs from long ago. The 1960s was probably the most creative with the many different styles of rock that came out.

  • Her name wasn't Rosemary, but I think of her every time I hear this song. I loved her then, many years ago, and I love her now, even though we've never met again.

  • The band is EL mark II and the band did plenty of live shows unlike Mark I with Tony Burrows.

  • @MargusKiistheCritic The original edison lighthouse toured extensively both in the UK, Scandinavia & the continent. they played alongside Roy Orbison, Chuck Berry, Canned Heat, Marmalade, Cliff Richard to name but a few & continue to play to this day.

  • The singing guy is Andy Locke and I`m pretty sure he re-recorded the song and his voice is real here. He`s still in business and singing this song as a solo artist in his lives.

  • Wow,,,,takes me back to a much simpler time!

  • My dad use to sing this to me as a baby, "love grows where my Bobbie Joe goes" <3

  • who is this mimming ?

  • i listened this song today in the radio of my car and i remembered "because my love grows when" all day and finally i write that in google and i found the complete name of this beautiful song :D... sorry for my bad english :P

  • Who is the guy in the video? Not Tony Burrows obviously? I must say he is a bit more appealing on the eye, extremely cute in fact. Tony's hairstyle at the time looked like he'd borrowed it from some lady who used to serve lunches at our school canteen. Great pop song though. I loved that year!

  • This song is super.

  • this song is on shallow hal i screamed n turned the film up haha

  • I grew up in a time when music was appreciated and understood. This is my kind of music. Love the 60's and 70's music. I listen to it everyday at work. And one can actually understand what they are singing. Peace, Love and Happiness :)

  • I mostly listen to todays musik, but I can't help loving the 60's <3

  • k-billy's super sounds of the seventies keeps on truckin.

  • I love the 70,s music x

  • An app on facebook just told me that this is the song that was top of the charts when I was born. Hence, this song is mine!!!!!! Love it!

  • im glad i got all my friends into old school music im 17 btw :D

  • I'm a 15 year old girl, and I must say, my generation is fucked. I love music like this. I love all music but mainly the old classic stuff, 80's classic rock probably being my favorite music genre. I hate most of the music around today.

  • You like this because you apparently know the difference between people that can actually sing and play music without electronic enhancements. The lyrics rhymed and the music was mostly more complex...I like some of the music of the last decade or so, but most of it is shit. There isn't a guitar player or singer today that could match the raw talent of even of the lesser known groups of the 60's, 70's or 80's

  • @aceopinions , Yes and sadly enough the junk that passes for music today is able to sell, because there are many that don't know the difference between real singing and auto tune, or actually for some bizarre reason they don't care.

  • @SpazChat they are high on their self centeredness and so they are sufficiently coarsened that they are too stupid (stupor i.e. blotto) to be able to see the good of musical songs

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX Could it be that there's something 'happy' about this kind of music. I will say that as a 12 year old in this time, living seemed simpler, less jaded, and more positive fun.

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX You're lucky. When I was 15, the only music was what was played on the radio.

No cable, no internet. I am so very happy that it was before 1980, when such music was still being played.

But now there's "classic rock" station because modern stuff is so very bad.

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX I was the same when i was in my teens. Being born in 1982 it was weird to listen to this music but i didn't care. I loved it then and i still love it!

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX MUSIC IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD NOT BAD AND VIOLENT SOME HOW THAT GOT LOST :(

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX There's hope for a 15 year old with a real taste in music!!! :)

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX

Well if its true then start a band, and change it.

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX I know and you are soooo right for a young person. Good for you!!!!

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX Your Gen also cusses too much.

  • @TRexTurtle i blame their parents ;-)

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX Could have written that myself, agree to 100%.

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX Cheers to you for having good taste.

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX I grew up in the 70's and 80's, great music and its a shame that there is nothing 'happy' like this being recorded anymore. You are not alone.

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX Totally agreed. I'm 13... Music changed too much. Yes, a lot of it is enjoyable but I love music from the 30s until 99 so far.... Then everything went South.

  • @Xx13Krystyn13xX I felt that way about 80's music. Most of it was such junk.

  • British bands RULE.

  • If don't believe it go to my channel, hahahah come on !!!!

  • Sorry , but this song is mine hahahahahahaha

  • im 24 n me ma mam love this song its one of my top 5's faves .....alright pop pickers : )

  • Now THIS is music. I MISS music like this

  • good lord this song is awesome

  • i love it, i love it, i love it.....

  • Another one from my past that i will always love

  • I hope this long hair thing does not catch on

  • everybody rise and sing togeather!

  • Comment removed

  • back when music had meaning

  • @PissedCritic i know right... :(

  • They ALWAYS put the drummer in back. As a drummer, I totally resent it. I mean, I score more than the bass player

  • @auctionguyinmo

lmoa, drummers belong in the back so they don't scare the crowd, ;) be happy you're on stage with actual musicians. ;))

. How do you make a drummers car more aerodynamic?

Take the pizza delivery sign off the top. ;))

  • @jbw31697 Now, would you say the same about Gonzo? Or Lars? Ok, I admit, when I ain't beatin' the skins or auctioning, I'm slingin pizza. but does that mean you have to bust me out?

  • This will always remind me of my sister, who died at 42. This was one of her favorites when we were kids.

  • respect the classics <3 !!

n will someone pls shut justin beaver up!! she's awful !! :D

  • this makes me want to hug a tree and dance around a tree :)

  • @chilliconcarnie1 This song makes me want to hug Gwyneth Paltrow. Jack Black, not so much...

  • @hudsonBay89 ...LOSER.

  • this sort of music is the best u can understand it

  • This is better than any song of 2011!

  • It's like he's actually playing the bass!

  • @MrK623 i did and used to use a plectrum that`s all

  • @gertchaband777 Sigh. It's not plugged in, and he has no idea how to play the instrument. No reply necessary.

  • none of the guys in the video had anything to do with this song ( playin, singing, etc), even tho thats a known fact , no one cares(3 million views)....fun song tho...

  • AWESOME TUNE!!! Love it!

  • Thumbs up if K-Billy's Super Sounds of the 70's brought you here.

  • The year was 1970 and was singing this song on the playground at my grade school in Phoenix AZ. Wow what awesome memories with this.

  • I think im gonna look up some monkeys or partridge family now. maybe both!

  • The lead singer reminds me of Gram Parsons

  • my whole school sang this song

  • These guys solved the energy crisis and nobody noticed; they're playing electric guitars that aren't plugged into an electrical source. I wonder if they plugged in their blow dryers?

  • @stflaw

we did plug them in every day

  • @stflaw Those guitars are "Edison Lighthouse" powered.

  • @stflaw

and the beatles played ed sullivan with bluetooth guitars in 64

the reason is health and safety

no fires from guitars that arent plugged in

nor anyone tripping over cabling and suing

  • @stflaw They were attached to a stationary bike and you had to pedal like crazy for them to blow.

  • @stflaw This is just a music video. The audio is recorded in a studio and everyone knows that. Stop trying to be funny.

  • Cool song.

  • wonderful

  • That was Edison Lighthouse's "Love grows where my rosemary goes" as K-Billy's super hits of the seventies keeps on...truckin'

  • Ya know, I always thought this was gay in my ears, but now seeing it with my eyes and ears it's pretty god damn gay...

  • Who is this lead man singing??

  • Look at what they are wearing!! To make matters worse.........Looking at my high school pics, They are better dressed than I was back then!

  • I JUST WATCHED A MOVIE WITH THIS IN THE END

I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE SONG

  • @markrik1 what is the name of the movie?

  • @ts53shea SHALLOW Hal

    imdb /title/tt0256380/

  • @markrik1 Thanks!

  • What happened to music? I mean. When I was younger, and this is coming from a 17 year old. When I was younger I was listening to music like this. Then as I got older. I always felt nostalgia. I miss times like this. Music isn't the same anymore. It's trash. It has no meaning. When you listen to music from 60's, 70's, 80's Anytime before the 2000's Minus some music from the early 2000's it was all about love and affection.. What happened to that? Go back Peace and Love, not being so egotistical.

  • @PL0X1NH3LL Many of us grew up in this era, and it was a magic time. Hit after hit after hit, and it really helped define where our lives were going at that young age. I really hope that the world 'rights itself' and music goes back to romantic love(whatever form that will be) where it always starts..or the sad state of music will only lead to more of the same commercial opportunistic garbage that is 'endured' today. The misery of this : young people today won't really know until ...

  • @PL0X1NH3LL because weed is illegal

  • @PL0X1NH3LL Look at how stupid you are. What's it like to go through life every day being a fucking retarded person but not know it?

  • @iamseriodotus Thank You? Did my comment incite you?

  • @PL0X1NH3LL Those where happy times, happy people, happy songs. Now everything is "So terrable" and people simply must have to sing about it, it's all about money rather than entertainment anymore unless it's a non-sold out internet artist. They can make any song now and the'll know everyone will love it because they already have fans who worship the "Artist" so they no longer care about the music. I'm only 15 by the way.

  • @PL0X1NH3LL My god im 13 and Have always loved music from the 60's and 70's. It seems like I can't ever find anyone that likes remotely the same kind of music I do..........

  • @PL0X1NH3LL Music will always have meaning. Sure, pop culture will always feed the lowest common denominator, but there's a lot of really good stuff out there. You are lucky, you live during a time that you can find any type of music you want. Lots of great indie music out there. Now go forth and multiply :-P

  • @PL0X1NH3LL well it's very refreshing to hear a 17 yr old. please never change that attidude :) and that's from a 50 yr old :)

  • @05Manny05 I must thank thee, and I don't plan to change a bit. ;)

  • Good song but why did they show close ups of the band's butts near the end?

  • @MarkFanboyX

IDK. But as far as I am concerned they coulda showed close ups of that lead singer the whole time!

  • Beautiful! Just awesome, my great uncle who came to this country in the 60's remembers many of these songs, we have those old records, this is among my favorites.

  • I MISS U DEBBIE L JUST ME BRUCE

  • NOTHING grows where Rosemary goes !

  • Quentin Tarantino brought me here.

  • Absolute classic !!

  • What lovely MEN.

  • @artsyspicey thanks

  • Do they make songs like this any more? I have no idea what the current crop of "popular musicians" is doing. I hope they are as good as some of these were (including this one). My mental connection with it (seems like, I could be a little hazy after 42 years or so...) is that I remember hearing it for the first time when I was in the Army at Ft. Bliss, Texas, near El Paso, for training, in Jan. or Feb. 1970, before being sent to Germany.

  • The Sopranos

  • What happened to the ampifiers and the electric cords to those guitars? LIP SYNC GOOD SONG BUT LAME!

  • where did the time go, I am almost 52 I was 10 years old when this song was a hit. My father who is 80 rocked to this when he was in his late 30s. this is freaking my out. What will this be like when people see this 100 years from now

  • @daveni2 You're like me asking "where did the years go?" Guess we're lucky that these gems were recorded and saved to reminisce over. Merry Christmas

  • does anyone know the chords?

  • @Skaternick911

Verses- She ain't got no money...A Hair is kinda...D

    Refrain- (Oh, but..A D) Love grows... A F#m C#m D E7

    Bridge- Something about... D E A F#m D, D E A F#m Bm E7

last verse and chorus, modulate up 1/2 step

    Check out my vids!

  • The first record my husband bought me, sure it's still somewhere buried in the loft...........and my hair was and still is kinda wild and free!

  • I wish that I can have a time machine and go back in time in the 1970's, stay there and never come back to the present. The 70's music will always be a classic in my point of view.

  • Anyone know this location? I remember this from when I was a very young teenager!

  • @ClaireSapphyck Bristol, England :D

  • @ClaireSapphyck Bristol, England :D

  • Funny to watch them play outside without cords on their guitars! Who would have thunk that they would still work?

  • @USAisAntiWhite It was standard miming practice back in those days, even the bands in the Top of the Pops studio didn't have cables! Nobody cared!

  • @ClaireSapphyck I think you'll find they did have cables on TOTP Tony Burrows, the original singer of this song always sang live on that show.

  • 1970 music at its best. Luv them days.

  • Nothing grows where my Rosemary goes

  • I'm glad that I grew up with what I guess was the end of the great days of A.M. radio. I feel like if you don't like a little cheese now and then then you really don't love music. Sad that A.M. radio is apparently only for people to yell at you 24/7. Oh well.

  • one of my all-time faves!

  • Love it guys!!!!

  • RESERVOIR DOGS

  • Thumps up if you're here because of Shallow Hal

  • Does anyone recognise the setting for the video? - At first I thought it was the Royal exchange but its nothing close. The end provides the best picture to a would be sleuth answering this question.

  • @hamptonwickster Bristol Town hall UK

  • @hamptonwickster how about monticello

  • @hamptonwickster

It is in Bristol but the Victoria Rooms

  • @hamptonwickster

    no sleuth I was there

  • Hey, sodagod95. Your Uncle had such GREAT taste

  • "she ain't got no money, her hair is kinda funny..." That was Sophia. She intrigued me every day during 8th grade. I was this typical white boy. She was from the other side of the tracks. Some called her a 'gypsy,' some called her trash. I was intrigued. One day, by fate, she sat down next to me on the bus. Edison Lighthouse was playing and her smell was that of Lavender and Vanilla. We exchanged a couple smiles, a few words between bus stops and finally a couple of phone humbers.

  • @jeff62rey awwww

  • @jeff62rey After years, I finally created a youtube account so I could upvote your story

  • @jeff62rey Awesome! Becky was the name mine.

  • @jeff62rey That story Is LOVELY Jeff! I Love the song too!

  • @jeff62rey I can relate bro. There was a little hippie girl named Kim that I had a major crush on in the 8th grade that this song reminds me of....never saw her again after our freshman year in high school.

  • Nothing grows where Rosemary goes !

  • How lovely that someone else appreciates the talents of Tony Burrows. He was such a fantastic singer. I remember him so well and I loved his singing. I remember also that at one time he had 3 songs in the top ten with the different groups he sang with. I guess that's a record that will stand.

  • I love this your uncle chose well!

  • your uncle sounds like he was a cool dude.

  • This is one of my all-time favorite songs.... never get tired of hearing it!

  • K Billy's Supersounds of the 70's weekend just keeps on......trucking.

  • So are these guys just random actors?

  • Hippies UNITE!

  • Can't wait for a time machine to be invented

  • @Gusdocs1 You can go back in time and get a lot of collectors items

  • i love how this song was at the end of shallow hal!!!

  • The Air Force used to use this for a recruitment commercial that played on late-night television... Because when you think of the Air Force, you immediately think of love & peace. :)

  • no haters here!

  • I liked to date Rosemary.

  • FO Adds Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Hey man were these dudes at Woodstock ?
