  • @TheXinforel, because the men at the back of the column are the Norwegian HMKG.

  • Why the Norwegian flag in the background?

  • Hi,

Please can someone reply with the name of the march in this video.

    Thanks,

    MDL

  • Oh and by the way that is only half the band playing!

  • There is no other sound like this, the massed bands of the 5 regiments of footguards, in the World, the marines on either side of the atlantic do not even come close! Yes, the British Government is again planning to cut defence, with the distinct possibility that the Coldstream Guards may disappear altogether. Maybe when all this is history they may get it through their thick heads what they have done! Sadly it will be too late.

  • the women are already there

  • Who put the drum major's on a diet?

  • Norwegian royal/household guard I'm guessing?

  • The most amazing thing is how they march around the piles of horse poop as if it wasn't even there. Unless you saw the poop piles, and asked yourself "are they going to step in that?" you would never know there was poop in the road and a lot of it.

    Incredible precision poop avoidance.

  • @emptyangel7, well scientific studies have shown that we, as ahuman race are getting taller, maybe theyve forgotten to eat their greens?

  • The problem with following the back end of a horse is the inevitable happens! The lads would need a toothbrush to get all the shit off their soles that night.

  • Those are The Kongensgaards aren't they ? Very smart

  • @BaildonLad Hans Majestet Kongens Garde (His Majesty The King's Guard) or HMKG for short.

  • Stirring stuff! . Even better when the plod on his horse disappears in search of a student demo.

  • Has anyone noticed, their all really tall

  • @t1t296

I think the HMKG still have a minimum height requirement, or at least their drill squad has.

But, it's a shame the British Foot Guards can no longer afford to maintain the traditional six feet or taller requirement because six footers are apparently hard to come by nowadays.

  • @emptyangel Footguards height requirement was 5' 8" excepting the Coldstreams which was 5'10" when I joined in 1971. The bands now include female musicians, which would account for some shorter musicians. The height requirement was lowered from 5'10 to 5'8" for the duration of WWII. The Coldstreams reverted back but the other regiments did not.

  • @emptyangel Previous height requirements have been as low as 5' 7" this was during WWI. Howeverr the Coldstreams maintained the 6' requirement throughout WWI, but lowered it to 5'11" in 1938. The Grenadiers lowered theirs to 5'10" in 1925, then back to 6' in 1926. So not uniforn across the regiments at all times, and a bit confusing to say the least. Band boys at age 15 were allowed to join at 5' 4" .

  • @kevinmorgan2100

  • Oooo - those Norwegians are smart. Not to mention long legged and slim. Is it the fish diet? Good lads anyway.

  • Could you please tell me the name of this wonderful march...... and I would be very interested if you could ell me the name of the drum-major who gives the command. He seems to pop up everywhere. (I know that is asking a lot)

  • I liked this German march the very first time I heard it, very recently, thanks to another You Tube video. You positioned yourself well, such that even most of the trio can be heard. The band, as always, does an excellent job. Thanks so much for posting this video.
