  • Inglorious was kinda not that great, it had few good scenes but all'n'all not that great of a movie, imho.

Hurt Locker was better than I thought, but a little preachy and had very many goofs maybe because of the woman directing a war movie..

Up was great, at least the opening :*S

Avatar, just a one dimentional story wrapped in to 95% of the movie being computer animation movie and 1.5 hours too long, with huge plot holes.. imho

  • Road and Up the best from these

  • 7/10 ain't bad. Did you ever actively disregard the three you missed (The Blind Side, An Education, Precious)?

  • nope. It was tough since there were 10 this year.

  • @Minic15 Yeah The Blind Side is a really good film

  • Bet nobody thought theyd leave out Farrah Faucet when honoring the dead in 2009.

We love you Farrah! God bless you and yes the people do remember you!

  • inglorious basterds or up in the air

  • It wasn't so bad for the prediction !

  • A gun to my taint. Picture that.

  • If I had a gun to my to chose over Avatar or Paul Blart:Mall Cop... yeah, I would watch Avatar. But itt would be close.

  • Not me-You, Not me-You. This is going nowhere, so I will respect Movies2's wishes. I just think when you go from original stories like The Terminator, and the Abyss, to Avatar, it's a huge let down for Cameron fans, and he knows that he can still sell the tickets because all you have to do nowadays is sell something flashy and plagiarized. Hence the remaking of virtually every horror movie. "People have been dumbed down by cell phones that make pancakes."-Carlin

  • thanks for getting my vid tons of comments but you guys can stop fighting now

  • LMAO!! So only you have an opinion. Not only are you ignorant, but you are a hypocrite as well.

  • Believe it or not the Internet does have information on it.

  • Google, yahoo, newspapers, film critics.Yeah, I know, I read the paper. I keep up with world events. I know this seems foreign to most americans.Maybe you should give it a shot cletis.

  • Alright fuckstick, get the paint chips out of your head, and think. Avatar and district nine are polar opposites. District 9 has an original concept not like anything we've ever seen. Avatar has been told countless times. Here, to end this tradgedy, just google- "Avatar Plot" and observe the first 10 hits. 5 of these 10 pages are dedicated to the plagiarism, cheezyness, and predictability of the plot.I rest my case. Now fuck off numbnuts.

  • And again, it scares you that I am implying a lower intellegence, which I am not, just a diffent level of AWARENESS, yet you continue to call me an idiot because YOU can't figure out what movies are.

  • No, all movies are not all the same, you are generalizing, and that is where we differ. I gravitate toward movies that are well written, acted, directed, edited, ect.. You look at movies as if you are comparing video game graphics.

  • And let us not forget, you replied to me Mr. I'm higher than replying on the internet. At least I'm giving some insight. You are just picking apart grammar, and name calling, who is trying to be the "strongminded" internet tough guy. Perhaps you're mind isn't strong enough.

  • Avatar would have been great if it was made for a cognitive audience. Instead it was made for an audience with much lower standards, who could easily be sold on CG alone.

  • Nope, just an american who isn't afraid to voice his opinion. Avatar had a cheezy story that has been told hundreds of times in previous films, and childrens cartoons, and it is up for the Academy award because of how much money they spent on it. I think it's bullshit. And all the ADULTS who I have talked to think the same.

  • Can't keep up? Stop nullifying your brain with movies like Avatar.

  • I thought you hated posers, haven't you ever seen dune?

  • The cg were nice. Were nice. You do have a sixth grade grammatic structure. Yeah, I can be a schoolgirl, and pick apart your grammar too, whoopee, where's my cookie. Or better yet, just wave a shiny object in front of me, like Cameron did to his audience with Avatar.Easy money.

  • Avatar, no because, though the cg was nice, the storyline was predictable, and quite cheezy. If I was 6 years old, maybe.

  • The Lovely Bones? Really?

  • avatar all the way...

  • Up in the Air will win easily, but thats the academy. Politics.

  • My top 5 for Best Picture

    1.Precious

    2.Inglorious Basterds

    3.A Serious Man

    4.The Hurt Locker

    5.Up In the Air

  • It has to be The Hurt Locker!!

  • Wonderful to see District 9 nominated for best movie at this years academy awards, almost makes up for the disappointment of NOT seeing Sharlto Copley nominated for best actor

  • District 9 all the way. I enjoyed the hurt locker and the basterds, but district 9 takes the cake in my book, it's just incredible. I didn't mind avatar but the plot was weak.

  • avatar was horrible, but it will probablt still get nominated just because of the 2 billion dollars it made, INGLORUIS BASTERDS OR DISTRICY 9 WILL WIN!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • and Sherlock Holms my friend will be nominated!! :))

  • no it won't

  • precius should be nominated and it will be nominated

  • Serious Man- meh

    Avatar- definite nom

District 9- voters are too shallow-minded

    The Hurt Locker- meh

Inglourious Basterds- my personal film of the year, probably nominated, probably won't win

    Invictus- meh

    Lovely Bones- meh

    The Road- probably not

    Up- i certainly hope so

    Up in the Air- meh

  • hurt locker meh?

there are going to be 10 noms and you only said avatar, inglorious, and up. what else would be nominated?

  • avatar should win!!

  • Avatar was.. ok.

District 9 takes a shit on it.

  • If The Hurt Locker doesn't win this shit, these awards will be officially scripted.

  • not officially. but i do think the Hurt Locker should win best picture.

  • Yeah we already discussed that..

  • good choices. these films probs will come up

  • If it were up to me, the nominees for best picture would be:

    Invictus

    Up

    The Hurt Locker

    Avatar

    Inglourious Basterds

    Up in the Air

  • and District 9

  • ok..random..my buddies and i are hardcore movie fans and need to know...how did people think District 9 was a good movie?? honestly..what made the plot or anything about it remotely good?..i am not being biased..i just need to know

  • good acting, screenplay, and visuals. It was very unique I thought. What didn't you like about it?

  • @kwmcmaho District 9 is The best!

  • no. I think Up will be nominated for best picture and best animated picture. Who says thats not possible?

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think Up can get nominated for Best Picture, only for Best Animated, which it probably will.

  • I think Up has a very good chance getting a best picture nomination. Beauty and the Beast was nominated for best picture and that's when there were only 5 nominations. Up is just as good if not better than Beauty and the Beast. Because there are going to be 10 nominations, it's chances are good.

  • However, when Beuaty and the Beast was nominated there wasn't a separate award for best animated feature.

  • We'll see

  • So your prediction is that by increasing the number of nominees from 5 to 10 the category for best animated feature has become obsolete?

  • Just because it can and will be nominated in the "Best Animated Feature" doesn't mean it still can't get nominated in the "Best Picture" category as well. Films can be nominated in more than one category you now, heck there is even 10 noms for "Best Picture" now.

  • Yes I know they can but best animated feature is kind of like a best picture for animated films and just seems unnecessary to give a film a nomination for what is practically the same award twice.

  • definetly not the same award

  • Then what would you say the difference between the two awards is except that the one is for animated and the other is for live feature?

  • no. animated can only be won by animated films. best picture can be won by any film.

lets say you made an amazing animated movie. wouldnt you want to be nominated for best picture while winning the animated award. Up will def get nominated for both and will def win best animated. probably won't win best picture though.

  • I actually looked closer into it, and an animated can be nominated for best picture. I was wrong, so sorry was so stubborn! I agree that is will probably win best animated (it seems pixar always does, hehe). It just makes we wonder why WallE wasn't nominated for best picture, of course the field was narrower then but still.
