I'ms o happy for Evan! He's worked so hard. He wasn't like a legent in the beginning but I believe after his perforance in the long program in Torino, I knew one day he'll work up to be an all around skaters with jumps, spins, emotional, and technical ability. I love jumpers but nothing could surpass emotional skaters like Sasha Cohen although she could not perform consistently with jumps :(. But Evan is a very consistent skater and im so glad he won this! :D
you have to hand it to evan, he is very consistent and it's just amazing that a man of his height can pull off these hard jumps so well. i mean nobu, dai, and patrick are really good and may be able to do harder jumps, but they are small like kids, I mean Mao Asada is the same size as them, Evan is 6'2", he's a real man and a great role model for the sport.

Evan Lysacek is such a boring skater. And he skates slow, jumps low. His performance is boring overall. It's good for figure skating that he is not going to compete at the world championships 2010.
Plushenko put lysacek in his small pocket with his SP AND LP. You can't even compare them. It's like comparing Mozart to Salieri. Only to Americans(who didn't watch the competition at all), Lysacek is the winner. Everywhere else Plushenko is GOD.
Plushenko is a robot with no artistry whatsoever. All that big nose punk can do is jump. He doesn't nothing else. No emotion, no artistry, nothing. Someone should take Plu-crybaby out in the woods and stomp his ass.

Lysacek has no emotion, no artistry, nothing. Lysacek skates slow and his jumps are low. Lysaceks spins is good compared to Plushenkos spin. Overall Plushenko is 25% better then Lysacek.
@HTHAMMACK1 true. all he says is jumps. when mao got lower than yuna, plushenko said mao should win because of mao did triple axel, plushenko thinks jumps is all about figure skating.
Evan did a great performance last night. Plushenko had skated tensely throughout the competition. not at his best. it's just a preference, as I find Evan boring. I like Plushenko not only because of his skating also his personality.
i think he is amazing...and his height only adds to the graceful (yet powerful) style of his skating...this win at worlds and his gold at the olympics were well deserved! congrats evan, way to represent the chicagoland area on a global scale :)
You can eat the ice of his skates since he now is the first man since Scott Hamilton won it both the World Championship and Olympic gold in 1984. Scott did both so you can suck on that.
You know I'm right and you got called out and you can't say anything else to defend yourself. Now go eat Evan's dust because his "pussy level" jumps won him the gold.
That's amazing to have a stress fracture and you STILL win. Now with Plushenko saying he was or not, the thing is that he had planned to do a Quad, triple axel, double loop but he didn't do the double loop. I mean that kind of cost him in some points because if you don't what's planned the judges will notice.
Isn't that amazing to came back after you haven't trained for 3 years? How many points? 00.1? 10? 100? Do the points for doing the Quard outweigh the loss of points for not doing the double loop? I think think yes. The absence of the double loop couldnt have cost him that much. The thing is that Lysacec cant do a Quad. He just cant. And every time he did it, he fell. Not that talented, he skated slowly, his jumps were not perfect. A woman skater could do that.
Are you kidding not that talented. Well then the judges must of not thought he was that talented when he won the 2009 World Championship with a left fractured leg. The judges must not have thought Evan was that talented when he won the Grand Prix of Figure Skating. They definitely must not have thought he wasn't that talented when he had career high scores in the short, free, and combined scores. So what if his body can't do a quad. That's not all that counts, only the quad is continue.
Only a small portion of it. Footwork, execution, and a whole lot of other small things make up a good skating routine. I'm going to use the example of the 1980 hockey games. The Soviets were an better all around team but the Americans played better that night and won. Plushenko is a better all around skater I will admit that but Lysacek just skated better that night. Now with his bitching over, if Plushenko wants to redeem himself, go out there and win the World Championships this year and
Have the derermination to out there and go back to the Olympics in four years and win the gold. I know he'll be 31 in four years but hey you want to prove everyone wrong, then go out and show it with the results.
Ok, if his body cant do the Sqard, he cant do the Squad. He is not able to do it altogerther. All i know that Pluschenko did 2 sqard in his two programs while Lysacek did none. The whole skating world is shocked. Lysacek did not skate better. He skated worse. If he had, the whole skating world would not be arguing about that. If the judges had preffered Pluschenko, no one would ever ever question that , even you. Youd say-alas, thats because he did the Sqard.
You can do the quad, but what won it for Lysacek was the GOE or grade of execution. I gave you the planned and executed elements. Lysacek's GOE of the triple Lutz scored a 1.00 for GOE in his program while when Plushenko did it he got a 0 GOE for a triple lutz double toeloop. I mean it comes down to the little things. They had the same score for Program Performance and Plushenko scored higher for excuted elements but the score for GOE was the difference.
You can look at the scores and how the judges scored the GOE. His footwork on his GOE portions were better than Plushenko which put him over the top. Plushenko didn't even get a 1.00 on his footwork on his GOE.
The thing with the scoring system doing the Quad isn't the biggest thing it is also footwork. Lysacek scored high marks for his footwork and scored a 1.00 and 1.40 on his footwork routine while Plushenko never got to a 1.00 in his GOE. Now as I said before if Plushenko wants to prove everyone wrong, then go out and win the World Championship this year.
routine? I am not that naive to think that Pluschenko is not able to compete with Lysacek in "small things" after proving he can do 2 squrds in 2 programmes. I am going to use the example of gymnast Paul Hamm got the olympic gold medal the same way as Lysacek. The american way of winning.
Unless the judges or judge gets bribed like with Sale and Petieror in 2002 Salt Lake Game, then there's no one to blame but the judges. You can hate the results but it always comes down to what the judges think. Too bad with the new scoring system, you'll never know who exactly were the judges and what scores they gave.
It was a decent peformance, but it has nothing on the '90s standards. (Petrenko, Browning, Stojko, Wylie, Bowman, Eldredge, Candeloro, et al). The new scoring system, especially, is ruining the sport.
Eugh. Ilia Kulick had a far superior program and technical performance (he could actually do a proper axel, not a tiny prerotated one) AND a quad.....that was 11 feckin years ago. I thought athletes were supposed to get BETTER with time.
Kulik was ahead of his time. A human being probably can only perform a quad on the ice. The quad isn't worth it if you can't complete the rotation and land with one foot. He didn't need it. Watch his LP from US Nationals in 2007. He did a beautiful quad/triple combo there. He's 6'1. Quads are tough for someone who's so tall.
I deserved the Gold, which just highlights, the men are either fragile splatfests or highly incompetent.
The fact that Pluishenko can walk in with a beer belly, 4 years after competing last and Dominate again, just shows you the lack of talent that has circulated for the past 4 years. Takahashi should have OWNED this game from 2006, but he had to be a headcase and have ridiculously complicated programs. Lambiel was about the most dominant and he didn;t even have an axel....sigh.I mis the 90's!
They have become much better with time. Look at their spins, footwork, etc etc. Just because you do not do a quad does not mean you are a worse skater..
FYI, Evan has landed beautiful quad-triple combos in competition. He competed here with a stress-fracture on his foot which is why he did not include the quad.
And given all the elements that current skaters have to cram in under the CoP, he is exceptional. Terrific stamina.
