The problem with this is that it's a big waste of time for the fans, many of whom spend their personal time looking to the next episode. No one wants to sit in an endless scenario because a stupid high school girl can't get over a few little problems. People watch anime to escape the drudgery of life, not to immerse themselves in it.

I liked Endless 8 too...

It kinda showed a darker side to Kyon, and developed Yuki's character too. Even though she went through the sameish iteration that many times, not once did she try to correct it.

Also the fact that even though Kyon knew that Yuki was suffering for this loop and there was a possible way to get out of it that had worked before, he still didn't take it.

I think that the director was trying to convey Yuki's pain. Perhaps he did go to far. Maybe there was reasons for funding, or had been pressured to continue the idea.

I agree, I do not like where the story is headed. I would hate for the series to actually loose the underlying ideas behind it; physics and philosophical ideas. The average anime fan would not catch that stuff.

Someone's obviously never read the light novels. The writer actually stated that Yuki is the character he likes to develop the most.

She is capable of emotions, she just tries not to convey them, but she slowly changes to start showing them more.

Without her developing emotions, The Disappearance of Haruhi wouldn't even have happened.

Initially I would get angry at the end of each loop episode but by the 5th one I just excepted it would last for 8 episodes. Ever since I stopped expecting them to resolve it at the end of each episode I've actually started to enjoy them as well. Of course this is due partly to the fact I know next week's episode should end it. If they had decided to go with "Forever Fifteen" instead of "Endless Eight" than I would probably be pretty angry still.

Ep 1: Pretty good, surprising since Kyon and Mikuru were in a room for many years frozen in time. Surprising

Ep2: Enjoyable enough since the gang was just frittering away with nicely drawn pics. Very relaxing ep

Ep3: Kind of a bombshell drop with the whole reccuring time thing, very satisfying and since I was wondering why the ep was almost the same

Ep4 and up: dissapointing, too litttle advancements :(

There's only one real reason KyoAni would make Endless Eight into this many episodes: publicity. I've never heard of a TV show doing anything like this before, so they might make the news about it for being the first. If they make the news, people will probably check out the anime and even end up liking it, meaning the series will get more fans that way and become more popular. Wasting animation like this is too much just for a prank to play on the fans, so has to be something more than that.

I think Endless Eight is one of the most original ideas in television storytelling. Sure, it gets annoying after a while, but it's a really cool idea. It could be shorter, but name another show that has done anything like this ever before. I like it for what it is.

It could have been one of the most original and interesting ideas if they had actually made changes in each iteration. It took Kyon until the fifth episode of E8 before Koizumi stopped having to tell him that he should know who isn't feeling deja vu. It took until 5 before Kyon didn't need prompting.

1st and 2nd episode the same, Kyon learns more by the third, going straight to Yuki, perhaps waking up before mikuru's phone call, etc. and add knowledge 1 2 3 4 5, add knowledge each time.
