  • 22? Really? Bald that early

  • he looks older than 22 but damn storng as fuck.

  • i can only do 20 pounds.

  • 15 and i can only do 185 front squat is hard

  • Do you take steroids? How are you 323 lbs, that's absolutely huge

  • it hurts my wrist when I do that, it feels like they will snap back.

  • I can do 350 at 15 but not like that.

  • on the 573 front squat you could have got it, but you forgot one very important fact, you forgot to breath, or thats what it looks like cause you face is read as hell. Anyway great job. Your strong as hell

  • i'm not looking to be a power lifter but I have just never been able to keep my body upright doing high bar back squats. since I can't stay upright it causes all sorts of back pain. I've since switched to the low bar back squat and the back pain is gone.

i've always blamed it on a high leg:torso ratio. any tips you can think of to help?

  • @gomarcphil

John Davis did his squats with blocks under his heels, allowing him to put his knees farther forward and keep upright. A lot of fancy schmancy Oly coaches tell you not to, but John Davis did them that way, so chances are you won't be rendered impotent. In fact, you might just get stronger instead. I'm not this guy, but I figured it might help.

  • 01:22 = a squatter's nirvana

  • I want to hit that weight before the new year!

  • Couldn't you use the audioswap function?

    Fantastic training btw!

  • you're not a person you're a mountain lol

  • @kraftsportNO

Per, to be honest I'm taking a break from heavy lifting and focussing on Jie Jitsu and grappling. My weight is down to 137ish kg from 150, and I hope to lose another 10kg. I will be back though!

  • The wussy music does not fit the video. Good lift, though.

  • @rolfeder

Had something else... of course most cool music gets flagged and I had to audioswap.

  • I can front squat a clean 225 at best, but then again im 6'2" and only 180lbs

  • Very impressive! What's your weight at the time of this video?

I'm just starting squatting, I can rock bottom squat 165 lbs as of yesterday for 5, but i haven't done any heavy or legs-to-parallel singles.

  • @sumferus

Thank you, to be honest I think I was around 149kg/328lbs here, at 1.94m/6'4, I put on a bit of weight quite quickly for a very heavy strongman show. I'm losing a fair amount of weight now cause definitely did not enjoy being that heavy!

  • @holymoly1234

Ah, just noticed in the vid. 147kg/323lbs.

  • @holymoly1234 It's good to be a part of the population that chooses their own weight, rather than constantly trying to 'work it off', isn't it? Keep up the good work, if you're doing this at 22 I can't wait to see you setting records soon.

  • Impressive for sure!! I justed started to front squat and have done 335# after a heavy deadlift day@ around #205 and am aiming for #400 in a few months. You've got massive power there brother!!!

  • @ugotitpunk

Thanks man. Keep persevering and the gains will come. Took me years to get from 460-550, but it happened!

  • @holymoly1234 Thanks for the feedback brother. Still working on the 400#, but have been mostly concentrating on the deads lately. Today is last day for deads for 2 weeks. Next week, I'll concentrate on some heavy front squats for sure. Long live the iron game!!

  • really good job broseph, keep up the good work

  • SOOO close to the 573!! Keep it up man, you'll get it for sure.

  • A 500+ lb front squat is some serious shit. Good job.

  • You are very very strong !!!

    KEEP IT UP

  • hey isnt this in new market?

  • @sukidekaioppai

Late reply, but yes it is, Gillies ave.

  • Great work. I'm about your height with long legs and i've always just thought squatting heavy was going to be beyond me. You prove being tall is no excuse so i'm going to have to start working a bit harder!

  • @ocdtwilson

Amen bro. I find there is a certain bodyweight each person has to find where their squat takes off, for me it was around 270lbs+ that I could actually squat well at. Deadlift doesn't seem to work on the same principle.

  • and he looks so normal.

  • So, what's up dude? Any new strong videos coming soon? 6 months since this video, you sure must be stronger now?? You're a tank bro!

  • my friend is 17 and he does 410..

  • @SteroidsAreStupid I'm one year old and I do 500...

  • @SteroidsAreStupid Yeah and so does my imagination...

  • Sooo close. I was yelling at my computer screen lol. Good work.

  • Great stuff man... 100 stars!

  • Great strength bro - very strong! Good job!

Any tips on how to gain wrist flexibility to front squat properly? I am just starting this movement...(haven't squated much before)

    5 stars bro...

  • Hey man... I'd just put 60kg or something in the rack position and hold it there. Alternatively, put a decent weight on the rack and get under it without unracking, and just stretch off the bar,,, so get in position and put pressure on the wrists, but let the rack support the weight, Make sense?

  • Yep - great advice - thanks. I will definitely try that out. I wish I would have taken up olympic lifting when I was younger....but back then I trained like a bodybuilder. I just started training for power about 2 years ago and it is taking awhile to unlearn all my bad habbits of a bodybuilder (slow reps, terrible speed, etc, etc).

Thanks again for the advice....I'll be putting it to good use soon!

    Keep in touch.

  • What's your bench press like?

I just did a long pause close-grip with 400 lbs (at a 210 lb bodyweight). The vid's posted on my site if you are interested in checking it out.

I would love to see some bench vid's out of you. Keep training hard bro....

  • a lot of power

  • next time for sure!

  • Absolutely. One of those misses that will haunt you till you get it.

  • It's tough for tall guys to FS. Nice job.

  • Many thanks.

  • Love your work...

  • Gracias. 600lbs in 2010.

  • those squat stands seem to be adjustable by a pin. so all that weight rest on a pin (which keeps the holders in position). that's nuts, what is it made of?

  • marshmallow

  • fool

  • oh relax it was a joke

  • It's a really thick bolt, I don't think its an issue. We've had them up to 750lbs, they're very stable.

  • 22years over 300lbs, you're not the wookie, you're the yeti man...

  • Lol, thanks.

  • Great lifting! huge weight. congratulations!

  • Thanks Per. I was disappointed as I wanted 260, but 272.5 will come soon!

  • @kraftsportNO .

    Awesome power!, 5*!!.

  • very good!!!!

  • Great job, looks like a great place to train.

  • That's cause it is! Simple is good.

  • damn...you'll probably do 600 soon!

  • Hope so Alex.

  • Nice 250, looks almost as though you went a bit deeper in the 260, which may explain the miss. Hell close though.

  • Mmmm, I don't think I did, it just stalled, lol. Get stronger!

  • probably the best front squat technique I've seen (235k) heaps of gut!

  • That;s why I included the 235, it was actually somewhat pretty. After that not so much!

  • I was going to react violently to that comment until I saw that Its just Ryan messing with you lol. Good to see that its raining all the way in Kiwiland as well today. . .

  • hahaha, damn i wish you didn't see it was me and said something. that would have been too funny patrick!

  • high squats and you probably take steroids. not impressive. pathetic...

  • must be fake plates

  • Yes to all of the above!
