on the 573 front squat you could have got it, but you forgot one very important fact, you forgot to breath, or thats what it looks like cause you face is read as hell. Anyway great job. Your strong as hell
i'm not looking to be a power lifter but I have just never been able to keep my body upright doing high bar back squats. since I can't stay upright it causes all sorts of back pain. I've since switched to the low bar back squat and the back pain is gone.
i've always blamed it on a high leg:torso ratio. any tips you can think of to help?
John Davis did his squats with blocks under his heels, allowing him to put his knees farther forward and keep upright. A lot of fancy schmancy Oly coaches tell you not to, but John Davis did them that way, so chances are you won't be rendered impotent. In fact, you might just get stronger instead. I'm not this guy, but I figured it might help.
Per, to be honest I'm taking a break from heavy lifting and focussing on Jie Jitsu and grappling. My weight is down to 137ish kg from 150, and I hope to lose another 10kg. I will be back though!
Thank you, to be honest I think I was around 149kg/328lbs here, at 1.94m/6'4, I put on a bit of weight quite quickly for a very heavy strongman show. I'm losing a fair amount of weight now cause definitely did not enjoy being that heavy!
@holymoly1234 It's good to be a part of the population that chooses their own weight, rather than constantly trying to 'work it off', isn't it? Keep up the good work, if you're doing this at 22 I can't wait to see you setting records soon.
Impressive for sure!! I justed started to front squat and have done 335# after a heavy deadlift day@ around #205 and am aiming for #400 in a few months. You've got massive power there brother!!!
@holymoly1234 Thanks for the feedback brother. Still working on the 400#, but have been mostly concentrating on the deads lately. Today is last day for deads for 2 weeks. Next week, I'll concentrate on some heavy front squats for sure. Long live the iron game!!
Great work. I'm about your height with long legs and i've always just thought squatting heavy was going to be beyond me. You prove being tall is no excuse so i'm going to have to start working a bit harder!
Amen bro. I find there is a certain bodyweight each person has to find where their squat takes off, for me it was around 270lbs+ that I could actually squat well at. Deadlift doesn't seem to work on the same principle.
Hey man... I'd just put 60kg or something in the rack position and hold it there. Alternatively, put a decent weight on the rack and get under it without unracking, and just stretch off the bar,,, so get in position and put pressure on the wrists, but let the rack support the weight, Make sense?
Yep - great advice - thanks. I will definitely try that out. I wish I would have taken up olympic lifting when I was younger....but back then I trained like a bodybuilder. I just started training for power about 2 years ago and it is taking awhile to unlearn all my bad habbits of a bodybuilder (slow reps, terrible speed, etc, etc).
Thanks again for the advice....I'll be putting it to good use soon!
those squat stands seem to be adjustable by a pin. so all that weight rest on a pin (which keeps the holders in position). that's nuts, what is it made of?
I was going to react violently to that comment until I saw that Its just Ryan messing with you lol. Good to see that its raining all the way in Kiwiland as well today. . .
