Beautiful!!! finally a video that is soooo helpful on how to build a Pergola!!! Direct and to the point!! thanks sooo much!!!!! :) I was wondering on the full dimensions on the 12 foot cedar? thanks again!!!
was the pattern he cut off the first board set on the second the same way? No, and it didn't look symmetrical, so the two boards will not look the same....gotta watch that stuff
@blueeyes6684 Use real wood beams ? Once you make your own video and your own pergola please post it here for all of us to learn from you. We will be waiting.
Great video. I am building one this weekend. I am going to use this video as a guide. How much does 4x4, 2x4, and 2x8 lumber usually cost if i am not using cedar?
The end is cut not for decoration but for letting water drop off easily. Thats a "water-nose" as we call it. Btw is this type of wood from the rain forest?
I want to build a pergola 8' x 17' more less, could I use just the 4 posts or should I use one in the center as well? I dont really want to put one in the center. thanks
Well except the first line you marked for the decorative end wasn't the same line you cut. You had the template upside down when you marked it. You might want to point that out so people don't screw up their project.
I think u r brilliant.. have u thought of posting a vid on building a chicken shed? this is my next project they say you can build them out of pallets? Thanks for some interesting vids
He marked it backwards but was corrected when he cut it. Wonder if anyone noticed.

Does the sealer mean that you can't smell the cedar any more. I like that cedar smell. Thanks.
paper000000 1 year ago
@paper000000 Yea more less. I know what you mean but that smell is short lived once the outside elements get to it. So sealing is always better.

@th3vikes Thank you. It really depends where you are in this crazy world. But cedar will cost you a few arms and one leg.

Did you use a brad nailer gun for any of the steps, or did you just use a drill with nails for the final assembly. thanks.
poemjon 2 years ago
No never used a brad nailer. Most of everything was done with a #8 and #10's common.

If you watched closely you would have heard that it is CEDAR.

do you have a video where i can learn to secure the 4x4 posts to a concrete slab for the pergola? cool video!
choneythief 2 years ago
Thank you. No I don't. However you would want to insert your post through the concrete for better strength and support.
