  • Just a little info, The Woodlands Texas (My home for the past 10 years) is a super suburb built specifically for old rich white adults who go to church every chance they get and dress in Tommy Bahama and Ed Hardy shirts. The town is built to look cultural, but its all new and fake. Its just boxes and boxes and boxes of people. All the kids are on amphetamine and a large amount use drugs. The weed is hella dank, doe.

  • @RevDickbutt i used to live there and everyone there has an iphone or some 400 $ phone its funny when u live there then living in austin two very different places

  • This sounds like it came from a Kristin Wiig skit on SNL. My friends and I all listen to this when we want a good laugh.

  • reginne is an amazing singer fuck you all who think she's not.

  • dude it's not from an album, it's from an EP

  • trash

  • @gamba88 cunt!

  • @RobinLikesCake ya ho thats what you are, and will be for the rest of your life to men.

  • @gamba88 Ho? To men? I'm male. Also I must say, incredible comeback...

  • kingwood represent haha... basically the same song as the woodlands, different verse

  • The best things I did in the woodlands were fuck rich chicks, do free drugs and stay out of Timber Lakes. And chicks parents are almost way too cool with abortion.

  • @p4p00 you wish you could fuck rich chicks faggot LOL

  • I also live about 15 minutes away from the Woodlands. I can tell you, it's fucking lame. Maybe thats why Win moved to Montreal. Can't wait for the concert tomorrow. In the Woodlands.

  • I grew up 15 minutes away from the Woodlands, I now work in the Woodlands, and I will see Arcade Fire in the Woodlands on May 4th. Gotta love wealthy people. This song is very Brian Wilson, I hope they play it.

  • @semenj You work in energy trading, too?

  • The Woodlands is now a Town/ small city... we as a collective township voted against annexation into Houston. I have lived in The Woodlands for about 11 years now, it's a pretty nice place.

  • They do sound truly happy :]

Wow, staying up and watching the sun-rise! ☼

  • What is the year of this? I swear it's from 99 but who knows. Down with the NWO.

  • this was my favorite of theirs until ocean of noise! thanks for posting!

  • AAAAAAAAA GENIAL GENIAL

  • This song makes me reminisce like crazy. Im not sure what about it makes me think of the past probably just the emotion in it.

  • HOODLANDS REPRESENT

  • this makes coming to terms with living in such a shitty bubble easier to deal with

  • Ah, I don't know how to use YouTube, but I posted a recording of the VHS that The Woodlands sent us around '98 above. I actually did the recording for a friend because apparently this place is such a feat of suburban terror (or "a master plan" as they put it in the video) that she was actually doing a report on it for one of her classes at UC Berkeley. But it's The Woodlands, TX- Win Butler did live here for a bit.

  • This is great. I listen to it while I walk around The Woodlands, the suburb I'm currently bound to by law! It's great to know that the scars of this place last. But I don't blame god, like the old lady told me with the cop's permission as I sat in handcuffs outside of The Woodlands mall. "I know you're in a dark place right now, but Jesus loves you." I had to ask the cop once she left if he thought she was referring to the woodlands as the dark place.

  • @TwoDayLionPass im very confused about what the 'Woodlands' are. i assume you are not talking about actual forest woodlands. what are the "Woodlands"?

  • @manchuria00 The Woodlands is a suburb of Houston, Texas where Win Butler, the lead singer, grew up

  • i think my soul just got raped.

  • Goes to show you don't need a perfect voice to make great music. You just need to be creative and have fun. None of this X Factor / Idol pop sensation manufacturing! Just creativity and fun and a passion for music.

  • They are so beautiful

  • i really like this song only for the lyrics and melody, id love the song if they had a another choice for vocals

  • This is a great song. But can someone please tell me why there's lyrics listed at the end that aren't in the song. "Don't you dare blame my parents I'm the only failed experiment Don't you dare blame your parents You're the only failed experiment Don't you dare blame your grandparents Mom's the only failed experiment Don't you dare blame your grandparents Dad's the only failed experiment Don't blame God Just blame God Don't blame God" Where are these lyrics? Someone help
  • Three cheers for my parents, lonely failed experiments!

  • I live in The Woodlands lol

  • my dad does too. bittersweet memories behind this song.

  • I just want to find a damn live video of them playing it. I cant find it anywhere. this is probably my favorite song off the ep

  • @PullingOut I agree with everything you say. Only difference is that this definitely IS my favourite track from it.

  • i just realised how awful & awesome the vocals are. I can barely stand the woman's voice, but at the same time i love it, it conveys a lot of emotion

  • Haha, totally.

The whole song is really shoddy, but it all comes together somehow.

  • @greyshark !!! i agree completely!!... i was just thinking that the other day, it is so funny because the vocals kinda suck but they work so well with the soft guitar strumming stuff.. hahaha

  • I'm from the woodlands! :]

  • they have there own style :)

  • wow, I'm from the woodlands too and this song definitely relates to the community. its truly an amazing place to live

  • umm buddy, I don't mean to be nosy here, but i'm pretty sure this song is super critical of what the woodlands is all about. Go look at the lyrics. They're hardly happy go lucky... "make a raft out of our bodies"... "lonely failed experiments"... yeah, that's actually kinda morose

  • its an amazing place, but its very diverse... theres parts where its actually normal and good and theres the terrible part of it. its a divided up place and theres several different stereotypes... its an interesting place to live

  • i totally agree... i'm from the woodlands and it's, well, a tad ridiculous.

i doubt they are the kind of people that would be praising it; musicians are hardly the kind of people the multi-millionaires here like to glorify.

  • im actually from from the woodlands tx, too where win butler is from too. Great place to live, although sometimes has a bad reputation for teenagers being snobby, it is a very nice community.

  • this song cries nostalgia

  • Ah! I love the line near the end. "Three cheers for my parents, lonely failed experiments" Amazin' line! ^-^ love this song.

  • @guruguruponchan27 but is it:

"Three cheers for my parents, lonely failed experiments", implying that the parents are the failed experiments, or:

"Three cheers for my parents' lonely failed experiments", implying that they were the lonely experiments of their parents?

    Think about it...

  • @BeatlesWooHoo Hmm. Either way i suppose.

  • @BeatlesWooHoo It could be

    1) The parents are lonely, failed experiments (experiments of whom, though...?)

    2) The parents are lonely and perform failed experiments

    3) The lonely failed experiments are completely unrelated to the previous line

  • @greyshark The way I see it, it's "three cheers for my parents' lonely failed experiments" -- as in, the children are the "failed experiments".

  • it sounds like they're incredibly happy and don't care if they're singing off key. I had images of dawn, because some of my own happiest times have been having fun staying up all night and seeing the dawn of the next day

  • yeah they don't care do they that's prob what i luv about them they don't really care what people think like they don't write pop and everything :)

  • @greyshark it's not off-key... they're just not fantastic singers.

  • @greyshark Perfect synopsis.

  • @greyshark any song is open to interpretation but i don't think happiness is what they are going for. many amazing sad songs are superficially interpreted as happy.

  • This song has such a warm sound to it, I love it. It just sounds like a living room jam session almost ;)

  • this is a bad ass song, im actually from from the woodlands tx, where win butler is from too, and if you think about the lyrics and you live here ITS SO TRUE

  • this song its brilliant! thanks for the upload!

  • Whats the deal with this song? Im not sure why it gets some people but it gest me.

  • yes, truly my favourate song of theres. The harmony is just fantastic and so simple the Dm to C to F to G then to Am just works so well. plus the added depth of the double bow and harmonisation of voices. This song give the illusion of simplicity but is anything but simple.

Hope folk love as much as i do.

  • the arcade fires from the woodlands, tx

    and thats where i live!

  • Actually, Win Butler was only born there. It was formed in montreal.

  • This is my favorite song by them. I don't really know why.

  • I was looking for this for a long time!

    Thanks so much!

  • I love how they are singing off key. lol

  • the very start reminds me of Antichrist television blues, just an observation :) but really great song...kinda calm but sad

  • this song is awesome!!! thanks for posting it :)

  • Amazing song..

  • Rough round the edges, but a very beatutiful song.
