Lol this was so beautiful but i was laughing the whole way cuz i just imagined Uncle Phil walking in taking Jazz by his shirt, and then you see Jazz fly out of the ring screaming the classic "AAHH!" LOL
I saw a video of Tupac in '88..of him talking about how to treat and talk to women..he was very soft spoken and articulate and wouldnt even say ''bitch'' but rather ''the B word''..shame he went on to write music where almost in every line..theres the word bitch and fuck in it..but that shows the shift from 80s clean rap to ''gangsta'' rap in the early 90s..
@LBJTV He did curse a lot but he didn't say bitch ( referring to women ) in many of his songs. Not including the song all about you, wonder why they call u bitch, and a few others. Pac, had songs supporting women, and occassionally talking about the women that was bitches; but not like other rappers.
Will Smith (though not forgetting Jazzy Jeff,) but throughout any color, Will Smith is a very inspirational black male that nobody should not know, everybody should know him. He is somewhat the definition of the way a black male; if not, a human should be. Though we live in times where we stereotype, whether good or bad (white guy this, black guy that,) he is inspirational to anyone in general, My children are mixed, I will definitely make them know about him and people like him. Peace.
This is better than what guys like Rick Ross did, I didn't lose respect for him because he was a cop, but because he broke the number 1 rule;"just be yourself"
@Grooveraider its not a persona though, will smith is a mega superstar and one of the highest paid actors in the world hell if that was me id let it go to my head too lol wouldnt u? famous worldwide, millionaire, got a nice wife that he gets to fuck every night and hes respected because of his music and acting ability, and also the positive image he puts out, which im afriad to say not many black males do even today not as much as will anyway, hes a good influence and young people
will i have to say is one of the most successful people, he said he was going to do something and stuck with it and became even more successful because of it, and still, so props
My fav rapper of all time...the only kid in my school that copped all his tapes back in the 80s and early 90s...kids made fun of me but I was riding with Fresh Prince...big up
everything will smith wanted to do 20 years ago, he has successfully done today and is continuing to put that positive image out there now. hes living proof that if you really go after what you wanna do, itll happen.
People should just live and let live. All that crap comes from insecurities, it's sad and ridiculous, who cares how you speak or what the hell color one is man
That is true! Why can't everyone just appreciate talent and good music? That is what's wrong in the music today, there is always image, sex, violence, and stereotypes that is not promoting good music.
I like the message that Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince was stating. Just be yourself and they would respect you more. Will Smith is a man of integrity! They have influenced many artists like A Tribe Called Quest, who stated, "Be yourself." and that's why they were successful also.
That last line Will said about havin 100 percent creative control is critical. I think that's another element missing from 2day's rap amongst the up and comers. These A&R's want something that sounds like whats already on the market. That's why the industry is having trouble selling records, because you can buy an album that has the same content as the next one. Why buy the next one?
Alot of people do critisize others if they don't understand other's lifestyles, culture, background, etc. Some people choose that ghetto lifestyle, I can't judge em, but some of us can overcome & get out of that mentality. Will Smith is 2nd favor actor behind Denzel Washington.
He's right you know. Too many n*ggas associate BLACK with as much ignorance as possible. If you speak well and don't run around downing black women, yourself and others then you're not authentically black. How in the world did the most stereotyped race in American history end up being so quick to stereotype themselves? No lessons learned.
I agree with you. I've gotten criticize a lot by the way I speak and even my name. People say I talk "white" and I have a "white" name. It's really ignorant.
Will Smith is incredible, and this early vid shows WHY he is. He keeps his head up and aims for the heavens when others are staring at the gutter. What's more, he actually says "YOU (already) KNOW WHAT'S RIGHT AND WRONG", and guess what? That is a truth that propelled him to the top. Jeff and Will have literally made this world a better place.

Damn yes, Will Smith.
No wonder you are the most popular man in America. Positive, indeed.
"Succeeding while following the rules." That is anti-hip hop!
Now, we all love Will, and he is very, very rich, and rightly, rightly so.
God Bless America.

This is definitely 1989. One of my favorite years growing up ^_^
I truly miss this duo rather than solo Will Smith's megastar
persona. I probably relate more to Jazzy Jeff in how
he didn't let the power of celebrity go to his head like ACTOR
Will Smith. Jazzy is a well accomplished artist in his own right
which gets overlooked when Will Smith is in the same room.
