@ARG3NT1N1AN NASCAR is a very different sport. I prefer F1 and the drivers are better but it doesn't mean an f1 driver would do well in NASCAR, it's a different mentality and strategy
Im irish and was surprised when i first started watching nascar that i liked it. the drivers are obviously excellent, but comparing them to f1 drivers... i dunno. im not sure about how much nascar drivers have to do in the car apart from drive, i think they can change the break bias, bt i do know that f1 drivers must adjust da brake bias, nd rear wing, kers and drs as well as no abs and a double clutch for starting. if anyone can tell me what other tasks nascars drivers have to do, that'd be gr8
@acenace24 Juan Montoya doesn't race in f1 anymore, it's been years...he didnt win anything so he left to join nascar (low league racing) to try get some success.
@HAPPYskiller I wouldn't say he didn't win anything, In 5.5yrs of F1 racing he scored 13 pole positions, 7 race wins & finished 3rd in the Championship twice. Thats pretty good going considering the dominance of Ferrari & Schumacher at that time!
@Suprahampton You know what i mean lol, he didn't win anything good enough for himself because the team didnt finish high enough to extend money on development. Yeah i know that, schumy was the top dog then.
Tony's F1 car experience may not have been quite as new to him as it was to many of the NASCAR swappers, as he did get his start in open-wheel racers and indeed became the 1997 IRL champion. Granted, that series ran predominantly on ovals, but the bottom line is that Tony is used to the vagaries of an open-wheel racing car. All the same, a great effort, as another NASCAR driver proves that he can drive more than stock cars. :-)
The Americans shouldn't let the comments from the euro trash get to them. I lived in Germany during my teen years. There is a seething hatred amongst euros toward Americans. Us "yanks" occupy a large amount of real estate in the brains of the euros. They are absolutely obsessed with us Americans in a Glen Close Fatal Attraction crazy kind of way. That's why they are always going off on us and or talking about how much better they are etc.. Best bet is to ignore them. They smell bad too.

Any race car driver that has driven both an open-wheel car and stock cars have agreed to this comparison, driving a stock car is like driving a mini van and trying to get the same performance as a sports car. F1 does take talent, but those cars are much easier to drive. Everyone thinks that their sport is better, it's always been that way and always will. The difference is some people are much more snobbish and think they're superior over others!
Im sick of all this "hey nascar sucks all they do is turn left hurr durr durr".
Well, how about we throw you in one for 500 miles driving at around 190. Bet you couldn't even do one lap. And this is coming from a guy who watched F1 his whole life and is now an aspiring open wheel driver, aiming to get in F1. So get your head out of your ass, and stop insulting us. If you don't like the vid, leave. This is NOT a personal vendetta against the US, and it's sad to see one in the comments.
@fireyred79 You are right about that one, but then again, this is about racing, so find a video about WWI and WWII and show this kids your knowledge! I'm sure you'll do great! Oh and thanks for saving us all in Europe during war, much appreciated my american fellow.
@fireyred79 Excuse me? you spank us at MotoGP? err.. Americans have only won MotoGp 15 times out of the last 61 Championships. Europeans have won the rest, So i think you need to stop reading "What if" magazine and face facts, Europeans dominate racing.
@x420Raptor1 agreed, Europeans dominate racing, better drivers and WAY, WAAAY better cars. It's sad for the americans but thats just the way it is. Rednecks dont belong near cars. LOL!
:/ I'm a big F1 fan and yes it's physically demanding on the drivers to cope with the G-force involved but the people who say NASCAR takes no skill well you would be wrong, easily said when none of you have been in a race car and it's fine when you on your playstation or watching the tv but things happen differently on track !!
@fireyred79 Pinnacle is not a marketing tool you retarded chimp, calling something the pinnacle states that its the top of motorsport from fact. It is the pinnacle of World motorsport, why do you think F1 has races all over the world, and shitty nascar doesnt? because there is no market for Nascar outside of america, because its a pile of noob shit. There is a huge demand for F1 all over the world and increasing in the far east. marketing... you have no clue about business boy, get a degree 1st.
@fireyred79 Only 2 american drivers have ever won an f1 title. That speaks volumes... You guys are not good enough to make it over here, money is no issue, you could send your whole fleet of drivers over here with sponsors from their current form of racing and none of them would win a title. Look at WRC, the so called legends Ken block, all you yanks calling him a beast of a rally driver, hahahah where is he now? at the fucking back, because hes in with the big leagues.
@fireyred79 Think about it.... F1 is about extracting tengths... drivers who are older, cannot react as fast as the young guys, F1 reuires extreme physical and mental fitness, once a driver gets old and starts losing that he is no longer valuable to the team. Unlike Nascar where there is no fitness, no reactions, just beer bellies, and lazy, very simple forms of driving. Seriously... its not difficult to draft 10 cars and overtakein a constant oval at 180mph. Its not racing.
@aga060 No, the 18000 rpm limit was only introduced in the 2009 season. Go and listen to a f1 car's engine from 2008, and then one from 2009, you will hear the difference as the 2008 car will sound more powerful. I have been watching formula 1 for the past 20 years and I have also been to many show events, as well as grand prixs, so I know my stuff pretty well.
@HUMMFREAK Uh, at the Glen right/straight/right/straight would be closer since it's a clockwise track, but still wrong. I'm surprised Hamilton had the balls to do this, they don't drive great tracks like this in Europe anymore.
@HUMMFREAK Not unless you're Danica Patrick. Left, straight, left, straight...crash....blame other drivers, bitch at crew. Danica's a bitch and sucks at driving.
Formula 1 was always better adiels by technology but this yeard F1 is mutch more easy for the racers to overtake and that means F1 now oficialy completley OWNS Nascar
Listen to the americans trying to make tony stewart sound better than hamilton by saying " Tony has 2 titles and 39 wins!" yeah but look how many starts hes had, LOL. Americans will never win anything at the pinnacle of motorsport, F1 & WRC... Just look at Ken Cock
@x420Raptor1 Oh, except they have and his name was Andretti. Stop being a narrow minded bigot. I could as easily say that Juan Pablo Montoya or Raikkonen or Villenuave hasn't won any Nascar titles either when they won the F1 championship; I mean Nascar only goes in circles right?
I don't watch Nascar but this my sport is better than yours thing needs to stop.
@supercooled clearly you didnt see my other comment saying only 2 drivers had won... thats 2 out of hundreds of championships between WRC & F1... Could easily say about nascar? LOL thats a ridiculous comment because Nascar is a piece of shit, the pinnacle of motorsport is F1, FACT. So it stands to reason the best drivers out there are the guys that win at the top level. Not a hillbilly trashheap level like Nascar. Any sport where drivers are fat and can still win, is a joke.
Luck is in any kind of race, if you really think about everything that goes on in a nascar race, it's a tough ordeal. You need skill/guts and an expensive machine to win in any kind of top competitive race.
Being there was great.... Lewis is absolutely AWESOME!!! He was very friendly and great with the fans... We missed him while in line for autographs in montreal so we drove 5 hours to try to get closer to him at the Glen... It didnt happen but it was all worth it... I blew my air horn and he reacted and smiled back and did a burn out right in front of us... Thank you McLaren and THANK YOU LEWIS... YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!
You really can't compare the drivers or the sports as the season structure and the racing are so different.
