I just wrote a book on religious persecution, theorizing that people like Gilles de Rais and Bathory were victims of the inquisition and not actually guilty of the hundreds of murderd of which they are accused. Its actually selling pretty well, showing how obsessed the public is with murderers. By the way, you are super hot! Smart girls are sexy.
I really admire your spartan living space. Personally I'm struggling with distraction and subverting my dionysian aspect/id/impulses to my awareness and will.
I'm curious if your austerity has always been a matter of taste or if it was self-imposed as a matter of discipline? Your video on silence was very interesting, and I intend on experimenting with voluntary silence myself. I'm sure you're very busy but if you have time, you seem like someone who could relate to me. Either way, thanks.
@Andreas0424 - Austerity for me is more a matter of taste. I'm not someone who connects naturally to the material world. I would say its out of a general preoccupation with other things I feel are more interesting or worth my time. It's not discipline - I actually find austerity reluctantly undertaken in this manner to be meaningless. Preoccupation with materialism is perfectly fine with me if that's what an individual actually cares about, it's just personally not my cup of tea.
That's what surprises me, u look excited with this subject, i wonder if u admire them? cause if u do, forget all that crap of the psicologie to explain a serial killer and simply realize that the attention and admiration u have for them is the real reason why they kill!
@CANVECVIDEO - You're right that many serial murderers enjoy the fame. Likewise, many do not. What you see is not admiration, but intellectual fascination. One does not need to admire something to learn about it. I do not need to admire world hunger to wish to learn more about it, nor to want to change it. This logic simply does not hold.
@CANVECVIDEO well.. looks like she doesn't admire them so you can probably calm down now and stop wondering.. she won't go after you and kill you don't worry ;)
serial killers this term really thrills me ,a serial killer is a different type of human,a cold blooded one these guys have a different way of thinking,it's a myth that they are above genius or extraordinary genius they just have a totally different way to view things,i don't call them monsters or curse them, they too went through a hell there are reasons why the birth of a serial killer takes place but this subject really excites me..god these real life hannibal lecters really fucks up humanity
that was super awesome thank you i can not wait for part 2, i kind of have a theory that this kind of preadatory killing behaivor, is "natural" that is to say that human beings for along time have been the dominant land preadator at the very top of the food chain, so it seems natural that we might start to predate on ourselves, that serial killers kill for more "primal" reasons, a genetic study of serial killers would be interesting indeed, and maybe you might get into this in the next vid?
Great video, and what a fascinating topic to cover! As always, I learned so much from watching your video. I find the part about how difficult it is to identify a serial killer very interesting. If it's difficult to share information in the U.S. between state lines even when it is within the same country and speaking the same language, I could only imagine how much more difficult it is in other countries (not just in developing countries, which would be a given). I've heard that -continued-
-cont- so many tourists go missing in Europe, and I used to think it would be a safe place because of its first world status. Considering that you can literally drive from one country's city(say, in the netherlands) to another country's city(Germany) in as little as 10 minutes, and considering Bundy used to drive for many hours to do a crime, I suppose it wouldn't be difficult to get away with.
For about the past week, I have been working on a video about the value of human life, which I uploaded to my other channel last night, and perhaps one thing that can be said about serial killers is that they fail to recognize the value of human life. This may account for the negative affectivity you mentioned. I was noting that people who value life tend to be more survival-oriented, and so higher up the emotional tone scale, which makes them less prone to negative emotions.
Here's some synchronicity for you. When I first saw you had posted a new video, it was too late at night to watch it. I turned off the computer, plugged my boombox into my MP3 player, and put on an episode of Coast to Coast AM to fall asleep to. It turned out to be an interview with the editor of "I, Monster", a book in which various serial killers tell their stories. I noticed that the topic seemed familiar, and wondering why, I then remembered you had just posted this video.
Very concise. Looking forward to seeing more. As far as other countries, you're completely right. Some of the places I've been in the world, are so desolate so disconnected I don't even think they would comprehend a serial killer. Look at Pedro López he killed 300 girls in Colombia. Although, death is a part of life. Infant mortality, "regular" murders, and terrorist acts...it's an interest concept.
I haven't watched the whole thing yet. But, Damn you! Damn you! I was just getting ready to fall asleep and you pull this! A 20 minute long vid I'll have to watch later, but I am psyched you made a new vid series. And if I watch the whole thing I'm not going to be able to sleep! ;) Damn your good vids too!
Anyway, for a "P" you seem to complete all the series you start. For a "J" I never do, they just seem to teeter off into oblivion.
I'm going to watch you later. Looking good by the way! =)
Do you recommend any books for someone who doesn't want to be buried by psychology? There was a book I read a long time ago titled "The Happy Face Killer". It was interesting, but you couldn't trust it much because it was written BY the killer (yeah, talk about your horrorfest). It's a disgusting read.
So that leads to my next question. Do serial killers enjoy the spotlight?
You have such a great balance of being professional and laid-back. For example, I feel like I could just as easily ask you questions in a cafe as a lecture hall. Plus, being intelligent and confident as you are, you could say, "Benjamin Franklin grew cabbages under his bed," and I probably wouldn't question it.
very interesting,thanks!
