I'm using a 4000 watt garage heater to heat my greenhouse, it keeps it between 50-60 in the winter, but I need to somehow insulate the floor, plants sitting around the side of the greenhouse on the floor get too cold.
I'm working on a similar passive solar heating system (black drums with water) and solar pop can heater with an old computer fan and cheap solar led garden light to power the fan
@london1817 well the greenhouse I have is much smaller....and made from old windows...glass and silicone. I hope the solar popcan air heater and fans make up the difference and on colder nights I will cover it in blankets...I have metal trays painted black to absorb some of the heat if things do not last the winter owell I will still have a better start in the spring...
@MvTCracker Well awesome! Thats all it takes to make starts. I love going in and seeing my stuff grow every day in spring. I wish I made mine smaller and able to cover at night. like 8x8.
Good Job!!! Have you considered; building growing beds, on top of your black painted water drums? That would help to keep your plants from freezing, in those cold winter nights.
Keep some chicken manure and sawdust in a bin and that will give off some heat to help warm the greenhouse. "Green Power" uses compost only to heat several of their greenhouses to grow plants in. You could put a large worm bin under your plant tables too. 1ce you get your room sealed off, it will be really nice to hang out in there!
