@jonicha3 there's a mod that adds the mage class as a selection for a dalish elf. Exactly the same origin as the other two classses for a dalish, but, well, a mage. Staff and robe included. No apostate mod as of yet (as far as I know)

there's this spell when casted on anything or anyone that uses, it does so much fucking damage if not outright kill them, it's digustingly powerful. And it's a Spirit spell.

And I'm also an arcane warrior, which is ALSO digustingly powerful, because when I hit level 30, I only had a sword and shield, no armor, and no one can hit me for shit... they kept missing, and spells would be mitigated next to nothing.

I love Dragon Age, and playing as a Mage was so much Fun. IMO the best origin story and the best plot. I was a elf mage so it was extra cool.

@IcyVirtualBoy ive never played wow, but the mage is actually relatively good at close combat, so long as you have the proper spells. Like a hex to make them miss, or using directional area-of-effet spells. I hardly ever stood back and fought as a mage on my game, usually running up and electocuting them from like, a foot away.

It can go both ways. The Arcane warrior's biggest drawback is that when using weapons OTHER than staffs (staves?) he often has to sheathe his weapon, cast the spell, and draw his weapon again! The other drawback is the large amount of mana consumed; wearing armour gives you a LOT of fatigue, and even with the Arcane warrior "less fatigue" talent, you won't be able to cast as many spells as you want.

But it's still awesome to throw fireballs on enemies and then cut off their heads!

I just thought of something about the mage origin. Don't read this if you haven't played this one. When you enter the chamber where you're suppose to use the poker, Jowan complains that he can't use his magic . Lily explains that the templars did something to the room to prevent a mages from using their powers...If that's true can someone explain why you can use magic to fight the guard at the door? It justs seems a bit odd...

the area around the door is preventing magic from being used...or the door disables magic used against it... not sure.

That's simply templer armor. You get in the mage tower when your killing all the abominations. It's on the body of a templer after you kill him. The requirement is an awfully high strength and templer spec.

the Templars? They are wearing Templar armor. You usually get 1 armor piece and 1 head piece as drops in the upper levels when you go through the tower to help them (when working on the treaties, not the beginning of the game).

You can't free roam the game is pretty linear. It plays like KotOR or Mass Effect.

It's not completely free roam like Oblivion but rather like Baldur's Gate meaning you're free to roam within a certain area but you then need to travel to a different area by load screen. Although I am unsure as to how big each areas map will be. Could be huge or otherwise.
