HaHa, the cameras on your head no wonder I'm getting seasick!!!! Gotta love ya Simon, I scoffed one of my husband's oyster knives and it works great , not so sharp or pointy so I can't cut myself to easily but does a great job!!! Nice video, thanks for thinking of us as usual!!!!! Nice shot on the fly too!!!!
Love to watch you work, disliked the head camera entirely until you said bye in the mirror - it was well worth the views of the water bucket to get to see that! LOLROTF. Thanks once again. d
That will be great, Simon!I took a closer look at my tool and discovered it was bent exactly the oposite to the one you use and also the shape is slightly different
Interesting idea with the camera on your head, but less practical for us, I think. You may adjust the pointing of the camera on the real action, but you can't avoid it's erratic movement.Quite frankly,it makes me seasick. But I have to admit, when I saw your face in the mirror,I had a good laugh.
I bought at my supplier a trimming tool that looked like yours, but somehow it doesn't seem to work.I think there must be a subtle difference in the proportions.Could you show them again in more detail?
I am going to get a toolkit together for sale soon for everyone that wants one with some better tools in it than most current ones people ... , in my 'spare time with my third arm !'...SL
With the head camera there's just too much movement to be able to focus on what you're doing, even when the object you're working on is in the frame. I really can't watch it; makes me dizzy. Even if you adjust the angle and use a bigger mirror, I don't think you could hold your head still enough for viewers to be able to relax and watch the video. Nice try, but it doesn't work for me. Sorry!
I do hope the first tool you used on the jewel box top will be in your new tool line.
I think the head camera might work better if the len was paralle with your eyes instead of slightly above them. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
I did some porcelain for the 1st time, boy it's so different! It feels like chewinggum and i have some problems on the wheel, it doensn't stick on the wheel as i am used to. I can center it but when i'm starting pulling up the porcelain it right goes out off center again. And it doensn't stick any more to the wheel. FRUSTrATING! Can you show us some porcelainwork Simon?? Annemie
Thanks Simon, that's great. I got a wee bit dizzy but still great. I made 2 boxes yesterday with black clay. Quite messy but I like the end result. I will trim them later today. Enjoy the day ~ Karen
the fly are fears here in my part of califronia today.
i am going to make one of thouse julery jars. do youlike how to make a one peace jar? I have lurned. you throw a close form. let it get lether hard. then cut .trim and form.. if you have never done it i know you can. its very simple.
You are so wonderful to try and make our learning experiences so rounded (scuse the pun!) but Simon, honestly, that head contraption is some fashion statement! Did make me laugh seeing it in the mirror!
Hi E ...yes I am going to place another piece of mirror in front of me , so if the angle gets wrong & people dont see what I 'm talking about , they will see in the mirror ! Anyway we'll find out ? ..SL
Can't begin to tell you how much your video's have helped me over the years. I so look forward to each new episode. That being said I have agree with tripanfal above. I am not a fan of the head camera position. Too much movement and not always focused on the subject that you are working on. Your information is so great and helpful I hope you will go back to your original format with the tripod. Thanks Simon
Do what 'Simon Says' - get a mirror! I thought I'd just be confused trying to look at the wheel and in the mirror, but it's a huge help to get that side view. I taped an old bicycle rearview mirror to the corner of my splashpan with duct tape. It's adjustable that way for larger pots.
I like the view, Simon, except it's difficult for you to see what you're filming and many times the object gets cut off. I think you need a camera crew! :)
Hi Nancy - yea I know its frustrating when i play it back & the item I 'm talking about is just out the picture ! , but I'm going to strategically place another mirror ! wait & see ! aha ! .SL
i loved the camera.. and love watching your vedios..

Thanks Simon, excellent demo'..the tip about smoothing the clay with the knife was very useful for me.
Personally, I don't mind a little camera movement..the only problem is when the pot goes out of view occasionally.

I too am a little disoriented by the new camera.
I'd love to see you do some porcelain work also.
Keep up the great work!

I can't watch with the head camera. It is annoying and disorienting. Regards Deanna

You're hilarious with the camera strapping.
I love it.
Thank you so much!

Very good Simon! If you can slow the movements down a bit so our eyes can follow, I think you've got it.

The seal stamps that you use, did you make them yourself?

Fantastic I thought you had bought some fancy gizmo but was more impressed with your version!
Your right your not the only one with "Potters Nod"!
Well done.

Hi Simon,
Its good to have a high view, but the movement is distracting. Perhaps a fixed high camera position would be the answer?
Cheers

If you're taking votes, I would say kill the 'head cam' When it's pointing at the right thing, the movement is almost too much.
The homemade half moon strapping tool seems to 'chatter' when I use mine. I ground a good edge on it too. any suggestions?
BTW, I'm throwing a lot of the tiered bowls lately, they sure are fun to throw.
As always, thank you for the time and effort you put into these videos.
