  • where can i watch this!?!?!?!

  • Did Watanabe-kun truly loved Naoko in the first place? Or was he just in love with the idea of being in love with her?

  • And for yet another time... BAM, SEX SCENE.

  • KIKO MIZUHARA SHOULD BE ENOUGH REASON TO WATCH THIS FILM

  • I MUST watch this, book is great also, i bet movie is less good (as always is with books and movies) but still....

  • I think the norwegian wood trailer on "apple movie trailer" is far better than this one

  • i really fell in love with this book.. movie's not as good is it?

  • @meow9001 actually the movie is ok.. i just watched it last night, and I can assure you that it won't disappoit you

  • @fix3p It7s ok. But to be honest, I think you can't capture the magic that is Murakami. As once you do, it disappears

  • @elKarlo well I guess that the greatest problem of filming books.. Ideally the author of the book must be the director of the movie, but this practically never takes place

  • @fix3p True. But I watched the movie after I had read the book, and honestly it only topically catches what the book is about. I don't expect the directer to get it all, or even most of it. But man, almost none of the tragedy, and depth were captured here. The writer should always be a co producer or an advisor.

  • I used to find love story's boring, until you fall hopelessly in love yourself

  • norskt trä

  • What is the plot?

  • @folladordeprostis kind of like a slice of life. *I'm going by the book here* and I don't want to spoil it, so I'll keep it brief. It's mostly about the life a Toru: a college student, things that happen while he's in college, his struggles, his happiness. It's a very sad story, but when you really think about it..it's realistic, raw...gritty. He deals with a lot of death of loved ones, but the story is also centred around love. Some people call it a coming of age, or love story..etc.

  • The book was defiantly better,

  • i didnt liek this movie

  • The movie is good, a little strange. Can't wait to read the book!

  • Jonny Greenwood!

  • why is it called "norwegian-wood?"

does anyone know what norwegian means?

  • @skolefriken It's the title of a song from the beatles which is used in the story

  • norwegian wood is easily one of the best books ive ever read.. i'm going to watch this movie soon.

  • I just want to see this for the costumes, honestly.

  • The book is amazing! Have yet to see the movie though...

  • Not going to lie, this is one movie I wished I had never seen. It wasn't particularly bad, but the movie itself seemed meaningless after awhile... and just strange. In my opinion anyways. I hear the book is a lot better, but after seeing the film, it really makes the book seem unfavorable to me.

  • @aidao26 the movie skips a lot of the book. it's not very meaningless..then life itself would be meaningless. This book is about real life, well the real life of Toru.

  • @leirgauk spurte akkurat mæ sjøv om de samme

  • i'm 90% through the book and its really quite good and though i couldn't picture it as a film the trailer seems promising, if only because i like the cast to an extent, one day i'll watch this, for now i'll finish reading the book :)

  • @hungrysponge I was going to comment quite the same XD

  • ka farsken e det her?

  • Why is it called "norwegian wood" and ps i have not seen the book/Movie

  • @sandergtafrik The title is indeed referring to the Beatles song "Norwegian Wood" wich appears in the book...as well as many other songs. I don't know if it has a deeper meaning though its a favorite song of one of the characters..

  • Knjiga je super, ne ispuštam je iz ruku. Odgledaću i film.

  • curse you netflix... why dvd only

  • I really really really loved the book, one of the best books I've ever read. But I'm not so sure if I want to see the film...

  • awful movie! sorry to say that, but seriously.. during the movie, i had to go out and have a cigarette because i wasnt able to watch it constantly :D the book might be good though

  • I didn't like it at all. Almost walked out - for only the second time in my life.

Boring, silly, unbelievable ... shall I go on ...

  • A bit irnoic that it's called "Norwegian Woods" when it's Asians playing and it's not in Norway aswell?

Why is that, this is a bit confusing for me..

  • @markuzzzzz2k The title is derived from the Beatles song of the same name.

  • @MegaKerrin NO WAY. Its not like the fucking song is in the trailer.

  • @MegaKerrin what is the title from?

  • i heard the director emphasized the love relationship rather than what i felt surrounds many of Murakami's themes; that rather than mourn in loss, you need to see the thing that's right in front of you and grab it. that said, i still would like to see it because i'm very interested in that time period for Japan.

  • haha, lots of norwegians here due to the title of the book and movie:P me too btw

  • I absolutely AGREE with you musfutmuj.I read The windup bird chronicle before Norwegian wood and I do prefer the latter.None the less Norwegian wood is to me a masterpiece of it's own in Murakami's work..I just love this writer...

  • I don't know if this movie will do Haruki Murakami's work any justice, but Kenichi Matsuyama is a great actor and I'm a fan X) <3

  • Haruki Murakami...

  • Hoho : ) Im Norwegian : ) and I love Japan : ) Im so watching this movie though it hasn't got anything to do with "norwegian wood" : ) lol.

  • @StraightUpSmile

This movie has a lot to do with "Norwegian Wood." I recommend you read the book. It's a very beautiful story. I'm certain this movie is missing a lot of things in the book but the movie still looks good. The reason it's called "Norwegian Wood" is because it's one of the main characters' favorite song from the Beatles. The story takes place in 1960s Japan

  • @finecool1 haha yeah i know it had something to do with the song, but it didn't really have anything to do with norway haha (: But yeah I really do wanna read the book thanks for recommending it(:

  • Norway, my country :D

  • what's the name of the song at the start?

  • Well I Like Him Better As L.....He Actually Killed That Part!!! He Did L Exactly Like The L Acts In The Anime............Awww Whyy Does He Wear Tighty's???? Awww He Would Look Better In Boxers And His Hair Messed Up Again

  • wasn't the movie uploaded on youtube?? its gone now..

  • Errr...so she dies???? I was about to start reading the book

  • @ImpureForce

Don't jump to conclusions. Just a suggestion...read the book. It'll surprise you. :)

  • Best book I have ever read, still plays on my mind

  • when you're in pitch blackness, all you can do is sit tight until your eyes get used to the dark.

  • Still 2 weeks to the DVD release! Can't wait!

  • I am am ethusiastic fan of Murakami´s work and, in my humble opinion, this adaptation has lost MUCH of the density present in the original novel. It´s not a bad film, though.

  • i think johnny greenwood was under the impression that he was writing the score for a ju-on sequal or something and not this movie.

  • Imma watch this coz i love Beatles :)

  • WHERE CAN I FIND A MOVIE COPY? ANY ONE PLS. HELP?

  • @mj1921able

    On Megavideo. Add- ?v=EG8VZ4J4

  • @ArtificialLiving that's only part 1... is there a part 2 as well? *please help*

  • @ksquicci

    ?v=S9GJOSQQ

  • i want to watch this drama ..

    where can i found it?:)

  • Too unlogical to understand.Don't worry.Go on reading. In Japan an expression of sex is too difficult to recognize as an important part of life. But he did. That is what he should be praised.

  • In 1Q84 Watanabe is Tengo.Midori is Aoume. There is something too mistrious or too unlogixal

  • I m very surprised to know that all the comments are written in English. If you want to know the climax of love story between Watanabe and Midori.Read 1Q86.You can get an answer.

  • yey! finally i found this book.i bought it yesterday and i'm so excited to read it i'm now just in chapter 3 coz i'm so busy the whole day,.anyway thanks to the beatles coz i will not have an idea that there's a norwegian wood book and movie if i didn't saw it here on youtube together with their other songs :)

  • i think it's kinda funny how critics praise the director for adapting such an "unfilmable" novel when the movie is pretty much exactly like the book... it was hardly even adapted. every scene is taken directly from the book.

  • Just finished reading the book, translated to Hebrew.. Wow, it was simply fantastic.. I wonder if there's a chance for the movie to draw level with it.

  • i once had a girl, or should i say she once had me~ <3 the book is so good :D

  • hey are tran anh hung are vietnamese ? Directed by Tran Anh Hung ? well i 50% jap 50 vn and i like this movie . i hope has more japan and viet nam movie

  • love this song nice that japanese people like it too hehe

  • @TokyoGutSaw Look at all the fucks I give

  • The class which Nagasawa is indifferent to the class which Watanabe or Midori belongs to.What determines the difference is that of university priority or family priority and fortune, yes, money.Unfortunately we have a government of not people but bureaucrat or civil servant by not people but bureaucrat or civil servant for not people but bureaucrat or civil servant.

  • The opening song is

    時の洗礼を受けていないものを読むな - Jonny Greenwood

if you just type it in the youtube search bar, the song will come up .

  • His brother succeeded to his father at the hospital. He is in a high class. He is in a ruling class. There are two classes in Japan.Haruki Murakami described the reality of Japan. What I want to say is that Japan is not a democratic country.

  • For Ministry of foreign affairs. He was respected by what he has because the symbol of what he has is perfect. His father is s doctor in Nagoya not in Fukushima. He has a brother who succeeded to his brother .

  • I watched this film for three times in Nasu.Because we have no movie in Shirakawa. The way from Fukushima to Tochigi, from Shirakawa to Nasusjiobara is so comfortable to drive because there are not so many signals as to Koriyama .No need to worry snot parking.Yes,I was really charmed by the beautiful scenery of green and snow,of course the fresh performance of Watsnabe and Midori, the talking with eyes of Naoko. What attracted me was Nagasawa. He was a Tokyo Univerdity student and worked for the Mi

  • Im a little skeptical about this movie. But one thing is sure: the book is magnificent, just great, beautiful images and a...(my english its not that good) very deep and simple narrative. But those who like to read (bless you) I would like to recomend you another (way better, way magnificent) book of murakami: The wind-up bird chronicle. That´s even better! Btw: Jonny Greenwood rules!!!

  • @musfutmuj I'd say it's the best possible film adaptation of the book... even if u don't like this one, i dont think there will be norwegian wood film thats better than this... this is my thought!

  • @bornslippy666 Oh no! I haven´t seen the movie. Id like to see it, hopefully soon. I hope youre right, id like to see a good adaptation of this one. greetings

  • @bornslippy666 disagree. the biggest failure of the movie is that people talk way too "literature like"... the entire dialogue scene sounds and feels uppity and heavy, like some kind of poem reading event... many lines Murakami wrote with musing nature for good laughs are delivered way too seriously, or "philosophical" if you will. For some reason I feel many scenes in the movie are something Watanabe (or let's say Murakami himself) would heartily jokes about... hehe

  • @musfutmuj Your English was fine. And yes, the book is just amazing, my favorite novel ever. I'm a little worried myself if this film, just 2 hours, can live up to the rich, deep novel.

  • @wildsmiley Yeah, it´s a great book. That´s the bad thing about all those novels turned into movies, as far as im concerned the best adaptation i´ve seen is the one with Fear and loathing in las vegas, that was a great novel, also great movie. Let´s hope that this movie wont let us down. Greetings, mate.

  • @musfutmuj recommend you read 'Gone with the Wind' and then see the film - an incredible adaptation - and casting. It's as if the book was written after the film !

  • "The wind-up bird chronicle" and "Norwegian Wood", both of them are the best of Haruki Murakami! If "Norwegian Wood" is just the "outside" of the soul, so "The wind-up bird chronicle" is into the "deep", "deep" and "deep".... of the soul.

I'm from Viet Nam and i proud of this film because "Tran Anh Hung director", he's also Vietnamese. But in my thinkin', you should read the book before watching the movie!

  • @iaou1314 I totally agree! I just red them both and someone should make a movie based on "The wind up bird chronicle"!

  • The book is amazing, I just finished it and I fell in love with all the characters. Naoko is lovely, Midori is awesome, Reiko is really cool y Toru is a guy that you can understand, he is a great character. I hope the movie is as good as the book.

  • When I read the book I was sceptic to movie I didn't thought they will be able to make it good but I wanted to see it anyway because of Matsuyama (him playing main role in this motivated me to read a book) and it was nice suprise that movie was realy good. And Matsyama as I assumed was great.

  • This movie is shitty as hell. I never saw such a bunch a crapy dialogues, this is the worst film ever

  • Jonny Greenwood's haunting violins never cease to haunt me. Radiohead's guitarist should definatly do more movie soundtracks just like there will be blood.

  • One of the best books I've read in a past few years - Norwegian Wood!! AMAZING! and I'm dying to see the film!

  • 0:17 <3

  • Where can i get or see the movie??? o.o

  • My band Chandrama just posted a video on our channel, a cover of George's "It's All Too Much" with sitars and things on it, and sung in Nepali. The Beatle's organization was super easy to deal with on the licensing approval. We hope George would have approved. You can see it on our channel, and please do.

  • I honestly thought that Kenichi Matsuyama would not be able to portray Watanabe as how Haruki Murakami wrote him to be. And sadly it turned out to be true. :P

  • @iloveouranful lol ikr. that's what's sorta holding me back from actually finishing the film... but i've heard pretty good reviews from friends that have read the book & seen the movie, so i'm intent on finishing it this weekend >:)

  • For everyone who did not watch the movie- first read the book and than watch the movie...I think that the book is A LOT better. Haruki Murakami is an amazig writter!

  • @TheSteko93 I think that goes for all good books. No movie can ever get close to the pictures you create in your phantasy by reading it.

  • @siegfriedfreud1984 That's right. I absolutely agree with you.

  • I really like the movie but i expect more about Naoko... in the movie she is only a weird crazy girl...

  • I actually liked the movie, it did not disappoint me. The books are always better than the movies, no matter what. So, i watched the movie expecting not much as the book and guess what?.....it worked :) All the actors were awesome and played their part spot on. Yes, the movie was certainly on a depressive mood, but i somehow felt so was the book. I especially loved the scenery in the movie, it actually somehow gives you the essence(somehow to me) :)

  • mmm...Personally, I liked the trailer better than the movie itself...

the film was a bit depressing, the book has a wicked humor but I guess it`s hard to put it into moving picture so in the end it wasn`t as light as murakami book... ...

  • @skeletinjsh same here. I think that everything in the movie is depicted waaaayy too depressive! Especially Naokos obsequies (reiko and toru) was so different in the movie...

    That's quite sad.

bad the trailer is great ;)

  • @skeletinjsh : i agree with you. This film captured the novel's mood but it need more energy and humour.

  • wowwww i think this is going to be one of my favorites, Haruki Murakami is a rockstar.

  • A very big disappointment. Too long an draggy to the point that it gets meaningless after a while.

  • @nutzified this was basically what i thought about the book lol.

  • wanna watch the movie n read the book!!!

  • The movie was horrible. Absolutely. I expected so much but I ended disappointed.

  • I like book

  • i cant wait for see this movie in mexico city!! my favorite book!! forever!

  • He's the guy in the movie I saw last night that my brother and dad is watching the "Battle Yamato". He acts well. Now I really wanna see this. Ugh.

  • Holy crap, I want to see this SO BAD. My favorite Murakami book, my favorite Viet director, and one of my favorite songs, all in one movie!

The number of people who don't know this Beatles song makes me sad. D:

  • just watched the movie today., Kiko Mizuhara BLEW ME AWAY. the guy sucked ass. :)

  • Oooh no! That guy also played Soichi Negishi in Detroit metal city...How am I gonna take this seriously now?

  • @myHEADisAtv

No worries, Matsuyama is Great actor. He has played many different roles. And done it perfectly. Watch Zeni Geba where he played Gamagori Futaro so could compare him as Soichi from DMC.

  • This is so touching. Toru Watanabe is very strong individual.

  • @TheBigBioDaddy

"Norwegian Wood" is the title of a song by the Beatles and it's mentioned several times in the book, because it's one of the main character's, favourite song.

  • So uh... What's with the NORWEGIAN wood? Why is it Norwegian?

Just wondering- cause i'm norwegian xD

  • @iretei93 The original novel is titled because of the beatles song Norwegian Wood :P

  • @bornslippy666 : And the song Norwegian Wood is about a girl's house which made of a lot Norwegian wood

  • @bornslippy666 yeah but i don't see the link between this story and the song, the only thing is that both of them are related to love. I believe there must be something else, in order to name the movie after the song even though it's Beatles.

  • @SparkyNicki Have you read the book? The song plays ameaningful role in it . The title of the BOOK is the same in every language, including in the original japanese.

  • @iretei93 Because Norway rules.

    From Norway.

  • @iretei93 I was wondering about that to.. siden jeg er Norsk også xD hahha

  • @iretei93 u have to read this book, Haruki Murakami - "Norwegian wood" i hope u like this ;]

  • @iretei93 in the time Lennon wrote the song a lot of people were having their places done in cheap pine wood - Norwegian wood - and the song is about an affair....so it indicates the interior of the type of girls that one would have an affair with .... girls with Norwegian wood interiors... cheap pine. Not so romantic anymore, Lennon had a mean streak. Also coz in the last verse he burns the place down...

  • @iretei93 The movie is named after the song, but the Japanese name actually keeps the translation mistake made in the original Japanese translation of the song title, literally it means "Norwegian Forest"

  • @iretei93 Eg e norsk og ;) nesten ferdig å lese boka :P so far so good ^^ does anyone know where I can watch this with english subs?

  • @sillamari You can rent it?... I live in Sweden.. and just saw that I could rent/buy it on the local store :D

  • @iretei93 The song Norwegian wood is called that because when the song was composed, rooms done in wood were very fashionable, and they were all done in Norwegian pine because it was very cheap, and what the guys wanted the public to understand was that it was cheap built, or so to say (cheap wine, no chairs), not exactly sure why, though. wiki it, it's all there.

One thing is, though that in Japanese the name is Norwegian Forest. Curious thing, no?

  • WATCH;;.FREE;;.MOVIES,.,ONLINE!'.,

  • Matsuken is so beautiful <3

  • @mrsxierox9 I spy another Kenichi fan. :D

  • @dragon3460 You know it! ;)) Haha~

  • why is it called Norwegian Wood?

  • @kawon93 Becuase it is named after the Beatles song, 'Norwegian Wood.'

  • @kawon93 and it was one of Noako's favourite songs ^^)

  • OMFG!!!! THATS THE GUY WH PLAYED L!!! OMFG THATS SOOO FREEAAKING AWESOME!!! *orgasm*

  • i just love kenichi's sexy lips

  • lindo awww lo ame kiero verla despues d aver leido el libro aww

  • lindo awww lo ame kiero verla despues d aver leido el libro aww

  • forest has always symbolized dark, mysterious, complicated, lost... as are all the characters in this book, in one way or another... isn't there a famous forest in Japan where people wander into to commit suicide?

  • this movie just did not make sense, goodness. aside from kenichi having sex like 24234324 times and saying the occasional words in between i did not understand the purpose of this story whatsoever.

  • @charmedbrauden

Because norway usally sells their wood, fish and oil to japan. Ever heard of ikea? Ikea is sweedish, BUT in scandinavia, wich is Norway.

  • ""Norwegian wood" from the beatles is one of the favorite songs of Naoko. She likes to play it with her guitar. The book is sooo much better than the film. But that's normal off course.

  • @FooFighter193 It's not her that plays it with her guitar, it's Reiko. The fact she's the one to play it is a very big part in the story, but obviously you know..

  • @youreatiger You are totally right, i'm wrong. I love Reiko her story is amazing!

  • Ok. Why is this japanese title called "Norwegian Wood" -_-

  • Oyes. I need to finish the book soon.

  • i am still reading the book.. and i found it quite interesting.

Now I want to try watching the movie version

  • @leechan501 Me too I'm starting to read the book cos I just finished reading Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Memories of my Melancholy Whores (Awesome story too.) But then I'm feeling lazy to continue reading it. So I just badly wanna see the movie. Ugh.

  • @charmedbrauden Haruki is a big beatles fan

  • I dare to say that Kenichi Matsuyama is the best actor Japan has ever brought to the table. Seriously.. This guys is so versatile.. He scared the crap outta me during Zeni Geba, his interpretation of L was so flawless and now.. as a guy in love - he really makes me believe it. O_O DAMN SKILLS MAN! Hollywood can go lay down now..
