The first version is not a musical, but it sparkles with wit, charm, and stupid dialogue. Yes, the movie is cheesy, but that's what lends it its charm. There was a time when major features were always accompanied by B-movies, and this one in particular, became a surprise hit. I hate the musical, polished version. There are some colorful characters in the old version who are not found in the new. Roger Corman was the king of B-movies, filmed in 2 days on a $40,000 budget. I have the DVD.
Most colleges and universities do not allow their students to use Wikipedia as a resource.
I have this DVD and I play it over and over again. My family thinks I'm crazy. I particularly like the scene when Seymour encounters the prostitute. The dialogue keeps me in stitches.
The greatest film of all time. Every universal truth ever sought is contained within if you just watch very closely. After all, it spawned an Oscar-winning movie career for one cast member and became a signature camp musical twenty+ years later. Pretty profound for a flick shot in two to three days on Skid Row!
i never saw this movie but i do know that this movie was made in 2 days & this movie was made in 1980 & the other movie little shop of horrors was made in 1981 bogger
This was the original 60's movie of Little Shop that started it all. It was made in an musical play in the 1982. The movie musical was then release in 1986.
OMG, I couldn't help but laugh at the part when Seymor was "hypnotized" XP. It's SOOOO fake. It's looked like one of those trailers in Grindhouse, without the gore...
Yeah, esspecially at the end when it's Seymour's face "I didn't mean it.". Freaked me right the hell out. O_O Haven't seen this version of the movie inna while.
No no it was just Seymour saying at the end how he hadn't meant to do all the killings to feed the Audrey Junior plant, That plant really would eat just about anything placed in its mouth it really wasn't all that particular about who it ate.
i swear that plant burped in the beggining.

@ShastaLOL Duuuur! this was a campy B movie from 1960! of course the 1986 HUGE million dollar musical version is going to be better!
UnsuspectingJerks 10 months ago
@UnsuspectingJerks Eh, as far as the movies go, this one blows the musical out of the water.
The show as it was off-Broadway, however...there I could go either way.

Nobody ever told me that before,"
"Beef is better than veal"
"Oh, You're such a dodo,
