  • Hungarian Paprika Chicken is made not exactly this way. I admit, this one is good too, but of course it is not the real.

  • @cathy222cathy

Yes, I like to change things up, can be interesting, thanks!

  • lol i made it for dinner tonight...it was so delish!

  • @notagainjez

    Awesome!

    And Thanks again :)

  • ty for posting Im going to make this!

  • @notagainjez

    Thank you, I appreciate that!

  • @freitasex Hi, I am Hungarian. It is not a bad idea to "roast" the chicken in the beginning to get some extra flavor although we do not do it this way. I will from now on.

    BUT

    1. we DO NOT EVER and should never use TOMATO SAUCE that much. A very little for little favor is ok.

    2. If you want to avoid the little flour-sour cream balls in your food. Warm the mix up first with using the sauce from the pan. First one scoop hot liquid/or sauce and mix. And then another one...

  • @krajchek

Thank you for your advise :)

  • @freitasex You are more then welcome. Although it is up to your taste. If you like it with tomato juice, it is ok.

I hope the mixing was understandable. I order to avoid the flour textures or flour balls you have to balance the temperature of it first. If the contrast is to big between the two liquids you mix, then flour balls shaping in your meal. Regards, good luck!

  • @krajchek Hi, I'm a Hungarian too, who lives in Sydney, Australia for 30 years now. I've learned this French or maybe Greek idea to fry or braise the meat before making a stew to lock the juices inside and the meat stays softer on the end, 30 years ago.(not from the Australians) I use this technique for all meats pork, beef, chicken, lamb and for all pörkölts and paprikás or for other international stews. It gives a softer texture and a better quality taste on the end. I recommend it

  • @krajchek Yes Good idea. :) But sometimes I will stick to the traditional way. :)

  • @freitasex So until it gets warm.

Then only after that you can mix with the hot sauce in the pan.

In stead of TOMATO SAUCE, try using natural tomato and also yellow or green peppers. You can cook them even until they melt. No problem.

  • @notagainjez Hi, you can read my answer below. It helps to make it. There is 2 big mistakes with it.

In stead of Tomato juice use real fresh tomato and yellow/green pepper. No problem to cook them until they melt. It is only for taste. You can use water for more liquid.

Tomato Juice is a NO NO in this meal for hungarians.

Also try to balance the heat of the flour-sour cream mix first before putting in the meal.

    See description below.

    Cheers

  • @krajchek oh thanxs!!! I plan on making it again. Ill make it like that. Sounds great!

  • I made this differently cuz i didnt have all the ingredients. I substituted fresh piss for the tomato juice, used two fresh dog turds for the chicken, and i also didnt have paprika so i added a few sprinkles of crack. mmmm delicious thank you!

  • @oaklandrmoss18

    You are very creative!

  • @freitasex Im just making fun of all the people who feel they need to share their custom recipes. This looks good and ill be trying it soon!

  • @oaklandrmoss18

I think your comment was creative and funny, that is what I meant :D

  • i like the music in the backround

  • Nice! Take off heat when adding paprika. Stir it in. Then put back on low heat. It won't burn

  • My mom used to do this. Will remind her to do this again (or I do it for her). Try adding a few chopped carrots and one or two bay leaves. Yum!

  • @frambris

Carrots and bay leaves do sound good, thank you for that!

  • @freitasex I made this today. I made a few changes because of what I had at home. I used boneless chicken thighs and boobs instead. I added bay leaves and chopped green bell peppers. Very nice!

  • @frambris

Glad you like this, and your changes sound excellent, thanks!

  • how do you get that he is cooking naked from seeing his arm lol

  • No browning is needed :D

  • Damn. This video left me salivating!

  • @raficsulejmanovic

    Sorry about that :(

  • my paprika burns when I do this method,,,how can I stop the paprika from scorching

  • I was going to make a vid cooking this but you already have a good one. I have also made this using Rabbit instead of chicken. Either way it is good on dumblings

  • I made this today for my schools homework! IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! now , im gonna try all your recepies!

  • It looks good but I've never seen it made this way. but it does look good.

  • Man, you are by far the most amazing cooking channel I've seen on youtube. I really, really like your videos, it makes me feel good and better. Thank you.

  • @GCgame

Thank you for one of the best comments EVER!

  • mmmm, I'd like to make this. Would skinless, boneless chicken breast work good with this dish?

Also, may I ask what cookware brand you are using? I've been looking for a nice set of stainless steel. Thanks!

  • @calpaw

    How about a compromise?

    Use bone-in and skin-on breasts?

Otherwise the cooking time would be way shorter for boneless/skinless breasts and you would loose some flavor because of the shorter cooking time.

The cookware is AllClad and I really like it, thanks!

  • @freitasex My paprika scorches every time, how can I stop that?

  • @455elisa

I would say that your medium heat that you are using is hotter than my medium heat.

    Just lower the temperature :)

  • Id add mushrooms in with the onions and garlic, reckon that'd go well

  • looks awesome, i am going to try this. BTW what can i substitute white wine with if it isn't available.

  • that looks delicious

  • @allycat114

I love this dish and thank YOU!

  • @BoraSed1907

You cook when you are in school?

    Awesome!

  • Looks delicious, unfortunately has nothing to do with the Hungarian Chicken Paprikash. :-(

  • @blondecat666

True, that is why I did not call it that.

Variety is the spice of life!

  • Tomato Juice? Use 1-2 cans of stewed tomato instead, depending on how much meat you put in. I use only breasts. You mince the onion and put it in with the oil first. Once the onions just start to brown, you Hungarian Paprika. Add the chicken and stewed tomato AND CUBAN GREEN peppers. No garlic! Way too much Sour Cream. You don't need more than a table spoon or two. It's mostly just to thicken the sauce.

  • @SloBurn1138 That's rather mean. If you want respect, maybe you should respect other people's freedom in being creative with traditional dishes. It's this kind of attitude that squashes creativity and innovation. Maybe you should ask some of the people here if they've tried it and if they liked it. If it tasted good, then who cares? Not everyone wants to cook things the way they were "supposed" to.

  • Hey Bud,

That looks delicious!! Thanks for the vid... very helpful :-)

Just wondering, would you happen to know how to make dumplings? I know that at Ukranian restaurants they serve this with dumplings... but don't know how to make it. Thanks again :-)

  • @ehsanaman222

Thank you so much, the dumplings... I will think about it.

  • why wouldnt you just use boneless skinless chicken i hate all the fat and bone

  • @killuminati63

I use the skin and bones for flavor, but you can do it with boneless if you like!

  • I'm making it as I type thanks

  • @alderete74

OH good, hope you like it!

  • RIce? WTF?

  • SloBurn1138 : How about posting a recipe

  • One of my favorite things to make. Thanks for this new recipe.

  • Glad you like it!

    And thanks for subscribing too!

  • ok! I obviously need to start showing people how to make real hungarian dishes. cuz this is wrong!

  • I have no idea this has anything to do wih hungarian Mr Torok.

I would love to see you cook something!

  • WOW!!... You are amazing. This I MUST try!!

    THANK YOU SOO MUCH :-)))))

  • It really is a fav of mine, thanks!

  • Thist is by far the best chicken paprika recepit I've ever seen. My grandmother couldn't make it any better. (I'm from Hungary). What I myself never do is sauté the paprika powder as it can burn very easy, get black and sour. But you obviuosly do a good job avoiding it! Wine is also a good idea! We usually add water and tomatoe slices. Thanks for this excellent video! Will try it!

  • Wow, thank you!

Your comment meant a lot to me!

  • Interest recipe. I almost made this last night, but realized I was outa paprika. Still gave a similar version a shot with chopped chicken breast, white mushrooms, red onion, rice and cumin instead of the paprika spicin'. Worked out alright as an alternative, same way to cook it really.

  • That sounds awesome!

I am honored that a cook like you would subscribe to me too!

  • Paging Food Network!!! This man should have his own cooking show. Thanks for sharing your recipes. =)

  • Wow :)

    Thank you very much!

  • Do u think that this would work with chicken fillets rather then a whole chicken? Love the channel tho. all your recipies are on my to do list lol

  • Yes, it would work... but I would use bone in fillets without the skin.

  • thanks for the reply! I almost bought cooking wine! Thanks for taking the time to capture your recipe on video :)

  • I love it when someone actually makes the food from the videos, Thank You!

I know that you will make this because of your question, so I always reply to questions.

This is one of my favorites and have been making it for years, also thank you for subscribing, that means a lot to me.

  • is the white wine that you use cooking white wine, or actual drinking white wine

  • It is drinking wine.

I do not drink much wine.... so I buy it in tiny bottles for around $1.

    It is NOT cooking wine.

    Thank you for your question!

    You should subscribe!

    Please?

  • Do you think you could switch out the paprika with curry?...then you could have chicken curry?...maybe coconut milk instead of tomatoe juice?

  • Sounds like a great idea!

  • WOW you are like...amazing...i am in love w/ all your recipes! so simple and easy! and all i can say is THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • This is one of my favorites that is easy to make.

  • I cooked you're chicken and I loved it, I only added one more thing, fresh artichokes do you like artichokes? if you do try it with with this chicken and tell me how you like it.

  • That sounds perfect, artichokes!

  • I made this for dinner tonight and it is delicious! Thank you so much, a new recipe for my family. My sons love it.

  • I am glad that you all liked it!

  • i wanted to use the sour cream but it's not available in the city i live in these days .. and i can't wait to go back home to make it so i wanted to use other ingredients make it close to the original taste

  • Do you live in the United States?

  • nope ... u don't know where i'm from >>

  • this is so good but i will put more onion cause i love it.. and i wanna ask u if i don't want to use sour cream what can i use instead ... heavy cream or wat ?

  • Instead of sour cream?

My first choice would be yogurt and second choice would be the heavy cream, but sour cream is the best.

  • I am making this tomorrow after I go shopping. It looks so good.

  • I just know that you will love it.

And thanks so much for subscribing too!

  • This is made a lot in my mom's home country of Hungary. The way you did it looks very much the same to the way she does. It is an absolutely awesome dish.

  • Wow, what a great compliment.

I do think this is delicious and I want to thank you for subscribing too!

  • I faved this one!

    Easy and looks so delicious!

But I would have bought a large bottle of white wine to enjoy while the chicken was simmering :)

  • LOL, I don't drink very much wine; that is why I buy those small bottles so that I don't have a wine bottle in the fridge.

It is one of my favorite old recipes.

    Thanks Reggie!

  • Nothing like making a guy hungry for dinner before he's even had breakfast.

  • Mark.... this is one of my old favorites.

I love this dish and you too!

  • it's like beef stroganoff (sp?) except with chicken and paprika!

I like jasmine rice....not sure if that was jasmine rice, but it has such a nice fragrance.

    Good cooking video.

  • I never thought of it that way... stroganoff; very true!

  • It looks delicious!

It is the Dinner For Two Chicken etc video.

I used to score when I was young and skinny, but now I am too old for that. LOL

  • Can you replace the sour cream with plain yogurt?

  • Sure you can, but sour cream is much better tasting.

  • Hey why is your name Freita, then sex? Do you like to have sex with a person named Freita? LOL. Just curious.

  • i think you're misreading it =P. i always saw it as freita's ex, not freita sex XD

  • Thanks Gna, you are right.

  • Gna is correct..... I am Freitas ex.

I did not realize what I was spelling when I signed up 2 1/2 years ago, then I realized and didn't care what anybody really thought anyways.

  • I only like tomato juice in some cooking.

I do NOT like tomato juice to drink or in drinks.
