  • i was told a crab is four sounds

  • i got the finger motion down but i cant seem to be able to use my thumb as a 'spring' does this come in time and practice or have i got something wrong with my thumb?

    any tips anyone?

  • @juzzy7291 yep it comes in time and practice, i got it in like 2-3 days 12 hrs practice total.

  • Yo guy...whats the track?

  • kinda funny but been trying to get my crabs down for a while.. but your tip where you said you like to think of it as tapping your fingers on a desk is really what helped me out with my technique the most. i always tap my fingers on the desk and for some reason that was the one thing that suddenly made it click for me. thanks man!

  • Hey, I have an old Stanton SK-2F that I decided to dust off, then I remembered why I had to stop. I think the fader (CFF1) is worn out, it has to move like 4 or 5mm for it to cut in (mainly for crab scratching) when it should only be at MOST half that distance. Do I need a new fader? It's like 6 years old.

  • @Redcom001 Sound like you need a new fader.

Try spraying it first with contact cleaner.

  • great tutorial, and loved the practice run lol crab scratch should be in DJ Hero 2 and have a practice like urs lol. (dats a compliment peeps lol)

  • @jcdent798310 Thanks do me a favor and post that on the DJ Hero facebook page.

    I appreciate it ;)

  • for those who want to kno hes demonstrating the closed crab, i.e the fader is in the closed position and is then tapped on 3 times, the fader will be in the closed position wen the scratch ends. this is the easier version of the crab, a open crab starts with the cross fader open and ends with the cross fader open and thus can be repeated smoothly over and over with no gaps in sound. it took me a while to learn this so thought id mention it. check out dj angelos tutorial!

  • "when i do the3 finger thing with the crossfader it dont cut up as it does when you do it " you need to set your crossfader curve to as sharp as it will go so that you only have to open it a tiny bit to hear full volume.

  • i got a ? i got the denon x 120 mixer right now when i do the3 finger thing with the crossfader it dont cut up as it does when you do it in the video does anyone know why is that? *DjFigment*

  • just keep practicing... the more you do it the faster you get

  • lethal vid, cheers for the tip

  • I actually crab in reverse finger order than that. cool tutorial.

  • weird beat but nice

  • right...obviously on 1 turntable you have a beat but on the other turntable the one you scratch on is it just a normal record or is it a specific one you have to scratch with? somebody help i need to know! thanks

  • you usually find a sample. whether its vocal or just a noise.

  • you can search through a record to find a good sound or there are special records with beats and samples on them called scratch tools such as breaks by numbers or donkey work.

  • sik m8

  • hey buddy, m8..........just no

  • lamo!

  • lol when u hit the table

  • cheers dude, great vid!

  • what are u using to scratch acapella or instrumental

  • acapella

  • what is it called

  • Zodyax Scop System

    Equilibrium-Level 2

    by DJ Relm

  • wha is an acapella?

  • Its the vocals only of a song with no instruments.

  • any tips in loosing up my thumb i have it too stiff =[

  • Yes massage your thumb daily work it...work it..

  • very nice!!!!

  • Could be

You need a beat playing on 1 turntable and a scratch sound on the other.

The fader turns the scratch sound off while allowing the beat to continue to play.

Keep Practicing you'll figure it out.

    PEACE!

  • Hey, how come when i scratch on the record, and move the Xfader, nothing happens. Like, i cant do any of the different types of scratches. All i get is the noise that is produced when you move the record around. I only have one turntable, does that have anything to do with it?

  • make sure the crossfader is not reversed. you may also have some problems if it isn't set to the tightest setting and sometimes with cheaper mixers the crossfader cut in isn't as good. if thats the case, let me know and i'll do a vid showing how to fix it, "cheaply", without replacing the crossfader.

  • no the fader isnt reversed, im not too sure how to set it to the tightest setting. Its a really cheap mixer, so maybe that can be the problem, maybe its not made for scratching...

    i dunno

  • let me know what mixer it is and i'll see if i can help in any way. send me a message here or if u go to my profile it has my myspace link.

  • hey same problem with me but i know that my crossfader is really cheap and it doesnt have a tight setting. It slowly fades. Can you tell me how to fix it cheaply?

  • when the xfader does not have the ability to be adjusted there is no fix that i know of to fix it. for now you could use the channel switch to transform but, i recommend getting a mixer that is more suited for scratching. the numark dm1002mkii the a great mixer for the price of 99.99 check it out. do yourself a favor and don't even both with berhinger mixers. i know they're inexpensive but, they are garbage. good luck and i hope this helps you.

  • So that's how you guys do it!

  • good tip. i learned that a long time ago, wish i had this type of knowledge years ago. i learned by listening and trying to replicate. i would do a tutorial but, i suck at teaching. keep it up. PEACE!
