  • Thanks for the trip back to 7th grade!!

  • rather the version of Mouth and Mc Neal

  • @mrspreston

Wow! I worked with Dennis at Festival in Melbourne in 1989. Often talked about Jigsaw days in the lunch room. What a small world indeed!

  • @Memories602 - a bit of a late reply I know. I am actually Denis Tucker's (on Bass) daughter. I know he still keeps in touch with the other guys and still performs in high country Victoria on occasion. There are no cd's of jigsaw available but there is a Fable compilation album with a couple of Jigsaw songs, some Johnny Chester and some Bobbie and Laurie out there.

  • @mrsrpreston - Thanks for that, I have managed to obtain some songs off ebay.

  • they mean they sing very bad bad bad

  • Wonder what they possibly mean by Na na na na...........

  • @Aqene1000 boink boink boink

  • Who was still televising in black & white in 1972?

  • Who was televising in Black and White in 1972? .... Just the whole of Australia.

Colour TV did not start here until 1975

  • @ignoblius we were watching black and white television until 75 :-((((((((((

  • both jibrit jigsaw and aussie jigsaw great groups

  • love aussie jigsaws version of this song

  • yes this is the aussie jigsaw not to be confused with the british jigsaw who hit the charts in 1975 with ""Sky High"" theme from james bond

  • For example AC/DC is rock,Jigsaw is pop.I agree that there is lots of music in which its hard to draw the line. The main point is that everybody enjoy what they like.

  • The Wiggles!

  • good old rock and roll

  • @jesse94970 How can you call it rock and roll,an insult to rock! Nice memories though.

  • @theodorus45 What do you call rock and roll

  • Great to hear these beaut songs again. Shame these aren't on CD or DVD. Does anyone know what happened to the guys, can't find anything on the internet. Fond memories of times spent at Bundoora Pub in the 70's.

  • Comment removed

  • hell man i remember this song when i was a'little ass wipe oh boy im an old fart now but aussie jigsaw were a'great band .

  • I was 8 in 1972, and I still play this song in the "oldies" band.

  • Almost painful to listen to the vocals...the music is OK...Mouth & MacNeal are still, by far, the best! And Maggie is sooooo cute...

  • Help! Do you know if there is a spanish version? If so... please tell me :)

  • hi, the spanish version's name is COMO ESTAS TU

  • Thank you sir!!!

    Yeahhh

    regards!

  • Those pants are too tight!! That awful voice!! Good song though!!

  • groovy as all heck ! Love it !!!!

  • I was 16 in1972

  • I was 14 in 1972.

  • ¿Cual fue primero, ésta o la de Mouth & McNeal? A mí me gusta más esta última.

  • Great song...does anyone have the version of the song "Mademoiselle Ninette" that these guys did? I've been searching for it for years!

  • Nah! :) not the same Jigsaw, this Jigsaw is Australian. The "British Jigsaw "did Sky High. The only connection Sky High has to Australia other than sharing the Jigsaw name, is that Man from Hong Kong film starring George Lazenby had the Sky High song in it.

  • one of the best songs ever.......

  • i thought ron gilbee was the best .love all of jigsaws music

  • good early aussie talent, should not be forgotten!!

  • yes....

  • lol

  • Why would these guys re-do a song that was only originally released two minutes earlier

  • Steve thats what they did way back then. you could even buy crap like "hits on hammond (or moog) organ". some made very successful covers of current chart songs. the mixtures did too. i think this version is better than the original and same with Yellow River.

its been done a few times. remember a german track 'der kommisar- falco'? and the english version by After The Fire was released simultaneously and both shared a spot in the top ten. there's others.

cheer up mate NZ is cool.

  • Hey,I am 40 dude.

  • because its awesome

  • i thought it would be a cover of "how do you do what you do to me" by gerry and the pacemakers i think

  • Weeeeeee.... love this track... as a kid it was on every radio station. yep 'british jigsaw' were a little later.

on the Fable label (lol) feb. 1972

produced by another aussie legend Johhny Chester R.I.P

The Mixtures were big then too. wow what a great era in aussie music. hippies in jeans showing their bum cracks with no jocks lol. one lived next door to me and he was a real hippy. kinda cool to see him and his mates in the combi back then.

  • Great music and band!

  • These guys are the "Australian" Jigsaw......they were a Melbourne group....we used to see them play at the "Tarmac hotel" in Laverton in the mid 70's they were great!......there were some line up changes ...at one stage they had hits with Johny Chester, and in the mid 70's it was the four guys, the lead guitarist being Barry Roy who is a fantastic player, that along with the outstanding vocal harmonies and genuine Personality produced a great time....Thanks guys!

  • I recently discovered some Cumbia, Banda and Duranguence mexican versions of the song. I rather preffer the cumbia one over the mex-covers, but this cover and the original by Die Windows are way much better.

  • Has anyone seen the final episode of "Hit Scene" which broadcast on ABC-TV on December 16, 1972? I want to know who appeared on that final show.

  • This video is the Australian Jigsaw, Skyhigh was sung by British Jigsaw. In the UK British Jigsaw was known as just Jigsaw. To add to the issue there were 2 Australian Bands called Jigsaw..You Savy yet?? There was a Radio Ban in the early 70's on Australian Radio and a lot of local bands covered oversees hits at the time. In the summertime, Yellow river etc. I think this Jigsaw was attached to the Fable record Lable. Fable has a Aust compilations try ITunes I think it has a compilation of hits

  • Yep, tank169.. I was in Aus in 1970 and you're right.. there was a ban on UK stuff by the music unions for half of that year... and that's when you had bands like Maple Lace doing 'Gimme Dat Ding' ... The Mixtures doing 'In the Summertime' (in the Aussie winter), The Strangers doing 'Melanie Makes me Smile'.. and the American band Joe Jeffrey Group doing 'My Baby Loves Loving' .. .

  • How and why would you try to re create this brilliant song,It is impossible and an insult.I assume this is the same Jigsaw that sung 'Youv'e blowen it all skyhigh???????

  • I too would love to know where to get cd's of them. Here in the US the only version of this song we got was the Mouth & McNeal version. And we got one song by the British Jigsaw. It is so neat to find cool rare stuff like this on YouTube.

  • I absolutely love this song, thanks for posting it. Do you know if Jigsaw has any CDs which I could hopefully obtain? And I would like to say that it's a shame that you can't find any information about them on the internet - so again thanks for introducing me to Jigsaw.

  • Whats the story did one defect and the song "tumblin" was brought about or was tumblin on this album? We were told it was "done by an aussie band that started jigsaw later". Oh well back to trolling the net until the answer sets us free!

  • Oh thank you,I'm living for these memories nah nah nah nah! 5*

  • Ah the memories. Haven't heard this for over 30 years. Thanks for posting. 5 stars of course.

  • scooter has sampled this too

  • this is a nice happy song. a pleasure to

listen to. thanks for posting, brings

    back pleasant memories.

  • OMG! I loved this song when I was a kid in the 70's!!!! WOW! I'm 46 and it really takes me back and makes me smile :)

  • Australian Jigsaw started in 1968.

  • It is one of the Two Australian jigsaws, there was a lawsuit if I remember correctly.

  • what happened there?

  • My dad died in a car crash while listening to this song. Dad, I pray every night you'll come back. If you hear this, find me and Joan living in Santa Cruz.

  • Fantastic clip - I can't believe I can actually remember the words from waaaaaay back then!!

  • a good oz band. that had a few top hits. including some backing johnny chester.

  • Is this the same "Sky High" Jigsaw?

  • hi,murphicus,no its not.they were an english band.these guys were an aussie band.these guys also did, yellow river. cheers.

  • man, this is awesome!!! one of my favourite songs growing up as a kid in the 70's in sydney.have it on cd,never seen the video before until today, thanks a million for making this available to watch,

  • This isn't the same Jigsaw group with Des Dyer who had the hit with Sky High is it?

  • no, this is the Australian group jigsaw, who i tink were actually around first. The Skyhigh group were known as "British Jigsaw" in Oz for that reason.

  • Ahhhh... Thanks!

It's strange, this version by "Jigsaw" is the one on iTunes, but no sign of the original "Mouth & MacNeil" version - nor "The Windows" covers - German & English.

By the way, they were all out in 1972...

  • Brilliant! Looking for this for years.
