  • whey this is the music over the top of the hudson music video intros

  • The thing when drummers or composers throw in time sig changes, they have to be somewhat musical..."Dave Brubeck". Vinnie stuff is not musical and is not enjoyable for me to listen to.

  • If you Vinnie lovers wanna hear more nice things from Vinnie.

search for Paul Anka cover Michael Jackson.

  • this is the first time i've seen vinnie play without wierd time signature stuff. i think he just wears glasses and puts shit places so he can fiddle around during the show and show off. also, how much would vinnie and steve make you recon?

  • they make pretty much what ever they want hahaha vinnie takes home 5 figures for recording sessions and probably 6 figures for tour

  • i thought this was nothing like gadd,i mean some stuff sounded like him but its his phrasing that makes him so huge, coliauta's phrasing sounds so dull compared to gadd's

  • No it's Steve Gadd for sure!!!

  • It's not Gadd it's Rick Marotta

  • I said in the audience!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Isn't gadd sitting in the audience at 3:04?

    I'm confused ;)

  • yes it is. he decided to run down and sit next to his family and start clapping cause he likes to clap that much.

  • my favorite performance of vinnie. proof that he doesnt need to play a lot of notes to sound amazing

  • He's one of the most powerful drummers I have ever seen.. he can break my arm if he hits me with a drumstick!!

  • lol the phrase beginning at :43 was taken straight from this performance and used in hudson's introduction to their sample video's :)

  • yepp

  • sorry..i got it: its Gadd himself, right?

So was this a tribute to him? did he have a birthday or what?

  • Who´s the person clapping at 3:03? Looks like de Niro :)))

  • Well that, My friend, Most certainly looks like Steve Gadd.

  • i think.......that is i THINK...........it MIGHT be steven victor gadd, the guy who is recieving a homenaje form the greatest drummers that they could possibly find to pay tribute to his awesomeness, but i MIGHT be wrong........maybe robert de nero is there for some reason as well.......DO YOU EVEN PLAY DRUMS????

  • Look one post further down, i saw got it the second after i pushed "send"..yes, it is very easy to make a fool out of yourself in the internetage. sorry everyone for my dumbness in this case, seemed to have a brain-out-to-dinner-day that day..

and: yes. i play drums.since i was 9years old. and we had "still crazy a.a.t.y." in our houshold when it was released (still have the vinyl) and was stunned by "50ways.."..

So,you see, no one is more embarrassed by this post then myself ;))

  • And Vinnie looks like Dirty Harry! ;-)

  • lol. see the bit where vinnie pushes his glasses up really quickly? he does it in a bloody eighth note. if he wated a quarternote he would've had a quarternote and a half to do it........ still, nothing beats the mo n' herb's vacation sushi story......what a champion of a drummer. he will go down in history

  • what does the do at 2:32 to the side of his floor tom? He reaches over but I can' t make out what the motion is.

  • I think he took a drum key off one of the floor tom tension rods.

  • casi lloro de la emocion jajajaja neta, a huevo estuvo bien chingon gadd eres mi idolo me pongo de pie.

  • lo maximo..!!! muy bien ejecutado

  • LOL vinnie is using a K custom ride just like Gadds. You think he's using it in honour of gadd or smth????

  • I think he is using it because he likes the sound of it.

  • Apparently Steve Smith recommended that ride cymbal to him before the gig, so he thought he'd give it a go! I forget where I heard this information, but I seem to remember it being of a valid origin. Maybe look into it! It's a 21" K Custom Special Dry Ride.

  • 0:44 on sound familiar? It should

  • man, cymbal SO shiny

  • lol

  • Classic Steve Gadd grooves simple and smooth

  • Marotta has such amazing feel and economy, he inhabits the groove with his whole being.

  • You are so right! Making straight sixteenth notes grove is no easy deal. Middle of drum naked and still groovin!

  • didn't Rick Marotta compose the theme song to "Everybody Loves Raymond"?
