My favorite version of this sextet is form the 1993 DG CD set with Studer, Pons, Ramey, Domingo, de la Mora, and Larmore. The blend of the voices is perfect, with the performers all working together as an ensemble. Sheer beauty and sheer professionalism.
I know that my opinion doesn't counts a lot, but I'm agree with JuillHope17, and besides there are two sopranos compare, Damrau and Netrebko so very diferents, thanks god any sopranos are the same -the thing of opera is that diversity of voices- Come on!! I mind I like Netrebko and Damrau, And yes a like netrebko-llucia as well Damrau-Lucia. This is art, you never can be agree in art! it's just matter of tastes -or something like that- so stop of discuss,

I even envy the singers of the choir in Bratislava as singing is absolutely none of my virtues. Anna Netrebko is an immensely gifted singer but anyone who thinks she can sing every part is just focused. Wobbling through the coloratura of Lucia´s madscene is NO memorable performance and certainly will ruin her voice much too early. According to your logic Britney Spears must be the better singer than Netrebko anyway as she´s more popular ...
I really don´t hate Netrebko ... quite silly to insinuate such a thing, but as I am living in Vienna I could compare both since they were virtually unknown. Diana made her way through great performances while Anna relied much on publicity since the beginning. As a real fan of Anna you shouldn´t applaud her while she´s ruining her lovely voice by permanently singing the wrong repertoire. There are colaratura sopranos and lyric sopranos. From the above mentioned only Damrau is the first.
Thanks for your explanations ... I´ve seen Netrebko´s Lucia at the Met ... which only was proof that she´s singing the wrong repertoire. Without any doubt she´s a gifted singer and could excell in parts as Luisa Miller or maybe Trovatore-Leonora. Her Lucia was - to be polite - mediocre and her looks are far from what they have been.

I am not sure how you define a new Damrau fan. I've been a fan for almost 2 years. Does that make me old or new??? I have only seen her live once at the Met in the role of Pamina. :)

nie zuvor hat mich meine lieblingsoper so mitgerissen wie in dieser aufführung.
die damrau braucht gar nichts mehr für donizetti,
sie hat es einfach.
sie hat mozart, sie hat strauss, sie hat verdi,
sie hat donizetti und ihr werdet überrascht sein, was sie noch alles hat. z.b. bellini.
ich bin gespannt.
ausserdem hat sie diverse franzosen auf der palette.
kann man von einer assoluta mehr erwarten?
