I own a GH2 and I love it. Continuous shooting, does not overheat, cheaper, lighter, flip out LCD, auto-focus. No complaints. There is a rolling shutter but it is minimal and seems better than the 5D2. Are there any other ways to better the rolling shutter? Either within the camera or in post?
First, I'm going to say that I'm not a video guy. Im not looking at rolling shutter results, although to my eyes they seem about the same. That being said, I'm analyzing the results as if they were stills. First off the 5D2 footage is showing quite a bit more flare. This is do to the lens being used or filters or lack of hood. This greatly drops the contrast with shots into the sun. Also, there is much less DOF for a given FL on the 5D2 vs. GH2. This is especially apparent when the stair
@hophearted you're also forgetting that the cameras were on the same tripod, the 5d being higher. so the flare that the gh2 doesnt catch, probably because the sun is behind the building, is being caught by the 5d.
From what I see both are about the same. Not much difference. This actually is a bad comparison considering most might favor the gh2 because the 5d actually can see the tops of the building more than the gh2.
i see jello in the gh2... and it looks like a bit of sun was hitting the 5d... but man the general public cant tell the diff...go with whatever puts more money in your pocket...my 7d is doing just fine... FTW!!!
Hello and thanks for that comparison Im about to buy a cam and was hasitating between these 2.
just one question :at the begining of the video we can see the pana is up and the canon is down and on the footage the canon catch the upside of the building and the pana the downside isn't it supposed to be the contrary? anyway I'm a musician and need help to choose the right cam to make a little video of my songs so any advice is welcome

Resolution chart with 5d2 vs GH2 would be nice to see. I'm guessing you might see more detail/sharper with the higher MBPS on of the gh2?

but rolling shutter by the foundry solves this

it seems you are telling us the GH2 is sharper than the 5D.GH2 is cheaper and better.
