  • @eraffel There is some kinks melodies that surpasses those of the beatles.

  • Comment removed

  • What is the connection between Timtur and the Kinks? Dedicated followers of fashion......

  • ray davies looks like such a fucking chill guy to hang out with

  • Love the light hearted humor

  • @catkin, I can't agree with you more. Ray is very sexy and was very sexy and wrote some wonderful songs. He did not have the team that the Beatles had, but I still love him and I dont like Dave much

  • @Sukkii25 all you have to do is go through their catalog and you'll see your comment is wrong he had an awesome team and he is in that group with the rest of them Genius Songwriter frontman singer musician along with the rest it is a shame they hate each other but look at the Gallager brothers, the Robinson Bros great Musicians, Great Bands, Brotherly Hate creates great music

  • Lyrics just as true today.

  • Totally in love with Ray Davies. He is over-flowing with charisma and a fabulous song-writer. Thanks for posting this fab clip.

  • @Dukegrievousangel You're an idiot if you think Ray Davies, as good as he is, was anywhere near the caliber of Lennon and McCartney as songwriters, singers or performers.

  • @awotter name shoulde be twatter.

  • @awotter Well, thanks for justifying your opinion with some sort of logical argument rather than just resorting to name-calling.

    Oh wait. Nevermind.

  • OH YES HE IS!

  • I've always had art teachers that reminded me of Ray Davies, but never completely. I'm still hanging on for that. I would love government funded art classes if that happened.

  • i love this. it is great. i wish i could live in the 70s. wow a good performance and good hair cut too, like me!

  • I don't remember if they played this when I saw them this same year in concert, all I know is it was an infuckingcredible concert!

Wish I'd made more effort to see them more than one time.

  • 2 minutes to make a statement

    in a song

    perfect

  • these lot were well ahead of ther time, just look at the crowed what a bunch of squares. people most of thought what the fuck r these lot allbout! hahahaha i love em

  • @merelyapparent

Yes, I must say I do agree with you. It is hard to say who´s best at something.

Specially in topics which are subjective.

Well, then I will say that Ray Davis is the one that I LOVE BEST

That might be more like it.

  • I remember my dad thought this had been written about my brother who was a proper ponce.

  • That's not The Kinks, it's Ray Davies and a bunch of blokes.

  • How strange! Comparing Bob Dylan to Ray Davies? Isn't that like apples and oranges?

  • I distinctly remember watching this "In Concert".

Of course, as much as I enjoyed it, it was even better to actually see the Kinks in concert. In the 70s, the Kinks frequently played in NYC. What great memories. Those were the days!

  • Is that a little honk honk at the beginning? :)

  • first time I´ve heard of this band. They´re great!

  • @IstalkBananas ...welcome to the greatest sound your ears will ever hear...glad you've joined us...the Kinks are the cream of the crop...you've reached the top...i've been listening to music for almost 40 years and time and time again, the Kinks beat the rest out.

  • @jenzeppelin,40 years!! that´s a LONG time!!gg but it´s great to be able to listen to a band that actually has talent!! unlike most famous bands today...

  • Ray Davies is one of the greatest front men who ever took the stage. I've seen the Kinks and Bob Dylan live at different times. Bob doesn't hold a candle to Ray when it comes to working the crowd into an absolute frenzy. Dylan just stands there -- the crowd didn't get into him.

  • @fenderstratguy Yes that's because he's Bob Dylan and he's always 'just' stood there. You're making a bad comparison here. I remember seeing Dylan 15 years ago and he just stood there while the crowd went mad. You're not going to get Mick Jagger on speed at a Dylan show. If the crowd didn't get into him then it's their fault and they should fuck off. And what of this crowd here? a bunch of fucking middle England wankers who Ray doesn't have to try very hard with. His opening line says it all.

  • @Shellback41 I guess those other 50,000 people should have dug Angry Bob's vomity indecipherable monotone rasps and grunts more.

  • @fenderstratguy You're not being clear. The fact he's playing to 50,000 speaks volumes. He's not 'angry Bob' anymore, he goes out and plays a vast catalogue of songs, usually different arrangements each night. I love these two fine songwriters in equal measure. The Kinks got ridiculously banned from touring the US around 1965, so Ray changed musical direction and retreated into the old England of his youth (Village Green PS) and the London scene of the late 60s ( a fine example being this).

  • @Shellback41 He was touring with the Grateful Dead. By the way, they were really terrific. They played one of BD's songs and did it 100x better than he did.

  • @fenderstratguy OK so it's 100x better, but it's a Dylan song...so? Dylan's songs have been covered by innumerable bands and have also given longevity to certain bands careers, The Byrds, Manfred Man to name some. He was and remains arguably the most influential songwriter of the last 50 years. You may say his voice is fucked...maybe but he's 70 years old, but more importantly, like many of the old blues singers that influenced Bob himself, it's got shitloads of soul. Take it easy fella :-)

  • Wonderful. Love Ray Davies, love the Kinks, great clip, love the song, thanks 4 posting

  • Cute!

  • Ah Ray Davies. Just amazing !!

  • Have you seen the video of Dead End Street.

That is great, it is intellectual, it is unhappy and it is funny.

    That is genious trade.

  • Ray is truly one of the all time greats. Totally underrated.

  • @pzivg43 you just underrated him by saying that

  • @pzivg43 Not by all of us.........

  • And I might say, Dylan is very incoherent too. Most of his lyrics are nonsense

"Don't wear sandals, cause the Vandals took the handles."

Gee, how deep can you get. (That's what I thought when I was 14)

Hollies Brown, Oh gosh , it takes the cake!

  • the lyrics are 'the pump don't work cause the vandals took the handles.'

that makes perfect sense to me. dylan is one of my favourite lyricists of all time, as is ray davies. but i guess if you think that dylans songs are nonsense thats just your own opinion. there are many who would disagree with you.

  • Don't purport to be intelligent enough to understand dylan

  • It might be a matter of taste.

I don't know Brell, but while some Dyland and Cohen songs I find great.

Mr Tamborine Man, Paths of Victory Stoy of Isaac.

They are too pesimist for my taste.

  • Pessimism is the disease of intellectuality.

  • But that doesn't mean one can't be intellectual without that desease. It is more a romantic nonsense to make ostentation of missfortune.

Take Paths of Victory, it's intellectual and is positive , It's wonderful.

  • Ray is the best lyricist of the 60's

  • dylan, brel, cohen

  • @jorgecubria maybe along with the lennon/mccartney duo

  • Wonderful!
