I don't play this piece fast because I think it just sounds better slow. I don't care how classical guitar pieces are written, i play based on how it sounds better.
@fusa1290 I agree about what you said, on not breaking the thumb. The problem with that is, some people cant help it. The guitar is a 100% physical instrument, and not everybody can have that so called perfect right hand. David Russell is one of the elite classical guitarist in the world, and if you notice he breaks his thumb a little also.
@grjopa there's a version of andrés segovia where he plays this piece in what fernando5821 possibly refers to as fast. i can't find it on youtube but it's on the "segovia collection, volume 3" album. it's faster than this.
You didn't play the variations guitarists usually do. This is repertoire for a first week of classical guitar.

This is not fast. It is about the right tempo for the piece.
Even then you are letting the bass notes ring on for twice their value.
Get it right first and speed (if you want it) will follow.

Nice playing. Is the guitar a Rodriguez Caballero? If so what model is it?

I want a classical. I tried putting nylon strings on my guitar and it worked for five minutes and then the bottom string snapped off. Lol.

Hi...you are playing around 118bpm (the tempo varies). This study should be played at 150 at least. Also it does no harm to repeat the second
8 bars before returning to the first 8 to finish.

Jay

That's nice playing, but only "Normal" speed.

Thanks for the comment. Can you please show me some classical guitar videos that are at a "Fast" speed?

Search for Heitor Villa-Lobos Etude #2 played by Matt Palmer. (It won't let me post the link.)

Just look for Recuerdos de Alhambra by Francisco Tarrega. That' faster than presto, probably prestisimo, maybe.

Segovia plays this piece at about 138 bpm. You can look at my attempt, if you like.

Fast is relative for the piece. That may be fast for the piece itself.
And good right hand work, clean and precise.
