I volunteer with Gabe Rivera at a place called inner city here in san antonio . He's an amazing and caring wonderful man . I am so glad to have met him . He truly is an amazing guy . I pray that everything goes good for him . But he seems happy working with the little children in the poor parts of S.A ... God Bless him
Gabe Rivera was not drafted by Pitt. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was paralyzed in a car wreck midseason. He did show some promise in the few games he played.
Of course, Pittsburgh-area writers and announcers have never forgiven the Steelers for not drafting Dan Marino.
Yeah, that Gabe Rivera was a BEAST. I wasn't at this game but I listened to it on the radio. I remember the Husky play-by-play man (Bob Rondeau, still the Dawgs play-by-play man) describing Gabe Rivera as looking like he was wearing a mattress under his jersey. After this game I remember thinking that Mr. Rivera would make a fine pro, but at some point after being drafted by the Steelers (I think) he got in a car wreck and was paralyzed. Darn shame.
I roomed next door to Gabe at TTU. He was chosen #11 by Pitt. My memory is that he never played a reg season game for Pitt. Car wreck after one of the preseason games, I think.
wait, so the refs didnt penalize washington for the the onside that wasnt at least 10 yards? thats gay. but hey, look at washington now and look at tech now.
