grinding, is, well, um, grinding. its just that whenever you go forwards or backwards, the gears don't mesh well (specifically the red ones touching the differential, the blue one/ grey one) and don't always turn each other and instead slip against each other, hitting it on hte way past. do that a couple times and it'll make hte grinding noise.
because the way xmods were made, it would work, but there's a lot of grinding since the gears aren't close enough and can't mesh. that little spacer brings the gears closer to each other and allows it to work better.
Is this the same for RS Metal bearings or a whole different procedure? I can go back to nylons if I need to, it's just that my metal ones haven't rusted and they're much smoother than nylon ones.
my guess is that it shouldn't since the RS metal bearings are a smidge wider than the nylons, so the griding should be cured (should). if not, just put in a plastic/ cardboard spacer ;)
It's essentially that, but when you put in the AWD kit and simply remove the rear dogbones, there is a shit load of grinding. To fix that, in this video, I said you had to put in a small spacer so the pieces mesh together better and grinding is almost nonexistent.
I wanna see a high powered FWD xmod going fast around a track or doing a full throttle launch so you can see its front wheels spinning. go make a video of that
yo you have the worn g shaf in there. try the rod 1 size smaller and it wont do that :D there designed because some bodies are shorter than others mine uses the longest (GTR evo) and if you put in the middile rod it wtill works because it is still grabing the flat side of the rod to the gears. try it itl work. if you lost your rods or whatever i obviously dont need mine so ill give the MED one to you. later
thank you man. you are a genius. i bought the H2 with the awd kit. i installed it but it doesnt work. all wheels keep standing still. now i will try it like the way you show it in this rescue-movie. thank you very much and greetings from east-germany
fwd gives more controll and traction than rwd but keeps the power that is lost by 4wd also if you like to peel out, rwd will make you spin out all over th place, fwd doesnt
there is no grinding, but that is because there is no moving. i've tried different batteries, i've taken it apart, everything looks fine, but it doesnt move

hey thats not a down grade its more like an upgrade remember that fwd has lots of tuning power or handleling

why didnt u just took the thing that rotates the back wheels off the lil sticks?

why would you want to make an xmod fwd any way thats like a down grade?

it just kinda for fun. no real benefits, no real downgrade whatevers. it just that its kinda hard to do with Evos since the gears dont mesh well.

did u use all of the spacer? did u use the medium drive shaft? did you put everything? Did u put everything in the right way?

Atomicmods say that their CF driveshaft is "Persision cut". So, if I were to make my car FWD, would I need the cardboard spacer?
Cellwelder 2 years ago
I don't believe so. The cardboard spacer is to only get rid of the slack.

whats the point of fwd
what would that do
alanle18 3 years ago
No real point
Not much from what I've found out. Supposedly it helps with drifting, but I didn't find much of a difference.

Loved the vid kid, especially the Janitor part!

its awd 4wd means that you can drive to wheels or 4 wheels awd means that all wheels are always moving....
josh126007 3 years ago
AWD, 4WD (almost) the same thing. I didn't want to get into the nitty gritty details. Doesn't really matter much.

another great video keep it up

meh... my car didn't require those card box ring thingy.. it runs fwd fine... no grinding at all.
nitemeer 3 years ago
Did you have some sort of modification for the drive shaft?
chinesekid05 3 years ago
nope.. only using full bearing though.. lol no grinding at all on my car chassis which is scion size chassis.
nitemeer 3 years ago
Hmm... must be the bearings...
chinesekid05 3 years ago
probably.. i guess bearing fix it lol.. i only tried it on one car so far... i'm a bit too lazy to disassemble the bearings and put it in other cars.

my 4-wheel drive barely works on my f150, any suggestions?
amorton94 3 years ago
Hmm... No, not really. Can you describe it more? A lot of grinding? Not a lot of movement?
chinesekid05 3 years ago
there is no grinding, but that is because there is no moving. i've tried different batteries, i've taken it apart, everything looks fine, but it doesnt move
amorton94 3 years ago
Did you use the right drive shaft? Check if all the gears meshes and the gears and the cases are free of debris.
