  • I always had this version of the song on my ipod and when i heard the song that's on the album i was so confused cause this is sooooo much better haha

  • I wish this made the album instead LOL.

  • In my opinion this sounds much better than the album version its faster and the drums are WAY better!

  • How in the hell do you produce a demo that sounds this good, lol. Its been years since i last heard this, and it still sounds absolutely amazing. Matt has always had the most orgasmic screams ever.

  • Best song ever!!!

  • Can everyone grow up and stfu about other music? This is a7x. Not rap so don't bring it up. Stop saying "Oh we need to unite to destroy rap!" Seriously shut the fuck up. This is why I hate avenged fans. All they talk about is bash other music, but when someone bashes avenged they lose their fucking minds. I fucking love avenged sevenfold. But I don't repeatedly bash other genres of music because they aren't a7x. One of the most hypocritical fanbases EVER. Just shut up and listen to the music.

  • Something to listen to so I can drown out my parents having sex in the next room over.... -____- I love this song though.

  • hahaha Bring Me The Horizon

  • @slipknotacm123 your not very bright are you....

  • LBC > This Version > The other version.

    Simple as that! ;)

  • this is not the demo I think... anyway this is better than other versions on youtube.. I have this one on the album, too.

  • rapeist mummy

  • Queria encontrar a versão demo, alguém sabe aonde eu encontro?

  • @Synysy nao tem versao demo

  • fucking version

  • I love this version of this song SO much, everything just sounds better, I love the album version but its missing something, Im just glad its up for everyone to hear, this version of this song changed music completely for me, just love it :)

  • Live in the lbc sounds a lot better

  • This version is on the album i have......i don't think this is the demo..

  • what's the difference between the demo and the other version?

  • @ShadowShocker99 real version is slower and less screaming and easier on drums

  • all the stuff now better then this shitty demo

  • i prefer this version for everything except the screaming, his voice sounds more natural in the chorus, the guitar sounds better and so do the drums and you can actually hear the bass

  • @Tails1888 I agree 100%. It's so much better than the Waking the Fallen version.

  • Jimmy was having turrets at the time

  • This was from Hopeless Records' 2002 compilation Hopelessly Devoted to You Vol 4.

  • fuck yeahhhh!

  • I like the speed, not the screaming

  • the demos solo is better than normal ones >.<

  • @MrFinRaZeR way better :D

  • i can listen the original drums and another "above" it, i think that its a fake and jimmy didnt played it

  • @xGuitarInFlamesx It's a demo. It's real

  • Ha ha, love the tune BUT Mudrock was right when he said that they couldn't play to a click in the beginning. I'm all for the organic movement of temp but this is... mental.

  • Way better than the album version

  • the pinch harmonic in this version is sex!

  • @ForgottenLegionBand Well first off I am not trolling. I'm just stating fact, and adding sarcasm to my statement.

Still, do you think Jimmy is trying to scream in the offical demo of this song as lead vocals and Matt just sitting in the corner? If so, you are in no position to tell me A7X history, buddy.

  • @ForgottenLegionBand DURR NO SHIT SHERLOCK. I TOTALLY DIDN'T KNOW THAT. I TOTALLY NEED SOMEONE TO TELL ME FACTS ON MY FAVOURITE BAND.

But this song was made before Matt could scream. And it's Matt who is singing in this one and the studio one.

    Just so you know, babe.

  • Anyone ever noticed Sounding The Seventh Trumpet's bass was much better than Johnny Christ's bass? From Waking the Fallen to the self-titled album, the bass has been simplified and its volume is much lower, although they increased it a little in the Nightmare album. I miss those epic bass songs like Streets and Shattered by Broken Dreams. Anyways, Syn's guitar is so epic now that it makes you forget.

  • @yano789 OI. DO NOT DISS THE CHRIST MAN.

  • @yano789 The bass in any A7X songs are good..Johnny didnt simplified anything, a bass isnt suppose to stand out

  • It's not the rev screaming it's Matt, the rev didn't start singing a few parts til after city of evil was released. I think this is syn playing the solo it just sounds worse tho coz I don't think they had mudrock and the other guy in the studio helping them out with their sound yet. It could be zacky but I'm pretty sure he wasn't able to play lead this fast cos on their DVD in 2006 he says "syn taught me how to play lead and I taught him how to play rythym." syn joined in 99 right after stst wa

  • @mcorsaletti noo, the rev sings in waking the fallen too

  • @A7XandSKATEarg They said in an interview that the rev didn't sing until city of evil and didn't sing properly until the self titled album :)

oh and syn joined after they recorded STST but before they re-released it with the metal version of to end the rapture which syn did the guitars for :)

  • @Gawy77 It says on the STST album sleeve that the rev provided vocals for the art of subconscious illusion, and there are live videos of the waking the fallen tour where the rev sings loads of backing.

  • @mcorsaletti I thought Syn joined in '02? Once he heard Sounding of the Seventh Trumpet, he joined? I could be wrong.

  • @Slasherrrrr 2000-Present, sorry.

  • this aint matt singing its the rev, well the screaming anyway

  • @super7o no, its matt, it sounds diff cuz its sped up about 25%, notice how the time of this song is roughly 6 mins, but if you lok up a normal second heartbeat, its 7

  • @super7o

    no,is m.shadows screaming

  • so this song was made around STST times? Hm. I had no clue and im a HUGE a7x fan. pretty sweet.

  • it sounds like a faster version of the song lol

  • Sorry, but listening to Matt screaming in this demo... it's so lol. xD

It's so amazing to hear this and then their later work. It's so amazing. <3

    A7X foREVer.

  • lrn2wiki >.>

  • at the introductory track "To End the Rapture" was re-recorded featuring a full band element. The album was subsequently re-released on Hopeless Records in 2002. The band started to receive recognition, performing with bands such as Mushroomhead and Shadows Fall and playing on the Take Action Tour.

  • To all the morons >.>....

"Before the release of their debut album, the band recorded two demos in 1999 and 2000. Avenged Sevenfold's debut album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, was recorded when the band members were just eighteen years old and in high school. It was originally released on their first label, Good Life Recordings in 2001. After lead guitarist Synyster Gates joined the band, at the end of 1999 when he was 18."

    GG .__.

  • as much as i love the original, this kicks its ass...love the fast solo.

  • @penguinboy935 everybody is too busy arguing about zacky & syn & bmth to notice how SICK The Rev is going lol

  • Sounding The 7th Trumpet - Zacky was lead guitarist. Syn joined round the time of 00-02.

the first line up was Matt,Jimmy, Zacky and Matt; before Syn joined they already had written To End The Rapture but when he came they re-wrote it again so that Syn could get this parts in.

  • This song has got to be my favorite song by A7X you can tell that its Shads while screaming ;D just saying

  • I fucking love the screaming on this song! A7X foREVer \m/

  • Way better than the original!

  • how can the solo not be sloppy....try comparing the beat between this demo and the studio version..the demo is much faster and i believe zacky did a great job on this..

  • EVERYONE. JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP, AND ENJOY THE SONG.

You call yourselves fans? You're bickering, instead of listening to this already fantastic demo.

  • We all need to unite to destroy rap stop bitching about other metal bitch about rap

  • @o0A7xJunkie0o bitch about techno, electro, dnb and dubstep

  • The Pic is Almost Easy :D

  • HOLY SHIT YOU ASS-WIPES!

Synyster Gates is playing this song!! :@ This demo was recorded when Synyster was in the band! :'D I actually liked A7X when it was released in early 2003 and they were handing out copying at gigs, Syn was the lead guitarist and this was a early recording they had, before the went in the studio for Waking The Fallen

  • Comment removed

  • @DancingDead02 You're wrong. This demo was recorded around ST7T, and Syn hadn't joined the band yet. It was all Zacky. Then, they re-recorded ST7T with Syn in it. Then, they actually released this song in Waking the Fallen.

  • @aquaagu2 No, you are wrong. This demo was recorded after STST when Synyster was a FULL-TIME MEMBER, they were handing out copies of the demo at gigs while on tour. They also re-recorded "To End The Rapture" with Synyster which replaced the original version of the song where it was just piano.

Then later they recorded this song professionally in the studio along with many others to create "Waking The Fallen".

  • @aquaagu2 This song is NOT all Zacky. Who do you think plays the solo in this version? Yeah, Syn does.

  • Seriously. Stop mentioning BTMH on A7x

BMTH are a posing shit band, and their lead singer can't even scream... he just shouts down the microphone. he has no control.

BTMH would do so much better without oli sykes tbh.

  • where can i get this version? i want it so bad.

  • give me the pic please

  • Where can I get a good instrumental of this?

  • the bass sounds awesome

  • This Is BMTH?

  • @ElWonejoJack This is A7X... :/

  • @HerptotheDerp Yeah, I Know, But BMTH Have A Cover, Right? Is This? PD:Sorry For My Bad English xD

  • @ElWonejoJack BMTH does not have a cover of this song.

  • @HerptotheDerp and thats why this is AWESOME

  • @ElWonejoJack No...no it isn't...

  • this proves that avenged sevenfold were creative even at sounding the seventh trumpet, and that zakky rocks it ;)

  • this proves that avenged sevenfold were creative even at sounding the seventh trumpet, and that zakky rocks it ;)

  • this proves that avenged sevenfold were creative even at sounding the seventh trumpet, and that zakky rocks it ;)

  • Bring me the horizon sucks balls anyways.

  • this version owns the album version, the Bass on this one's amazing/more audible

  • love this song, 1 of sevenfolds best

  • is bring me the horizon

  • @franksalido98 No it isn't. Oli had a higher scream.

  • @franksalido98 It isn't

  • @franksalido98 you have shit in your head???? its avenged sevenfold! bring me the horizon its just... SHIT :l

  • @franksalido98

    IS IT FUCK?!?

They STOLE it from them! Cheeky son a bitches! I hate Bmth and they can go suck it for claiming this as their own -.-

  • @ToBefoREVerxx Are you retarded? BMTH never played this song. It's A7x's song, and some dumbass thought that Shadows sounded like Oli Sykes in this version, so he/she thought it's BMTH.

  • @ferociouspokemachine

Um ACTUALLY, I know they didn't

I MEAN Bmth claimed it as theirs.

    I KNOW IT'S A7X STOOPID!!

Don't go callin' me retarded dumbazz -.-

  • @ToBefoREVerxx BMTH never claimed it as theirs get a fucking clue please.

  • @ferociouspokemachine

    How do you know?

And if you're gonna say this, then don't say ''It's bring me the horizon'' in the first place!

  • @ToBefoREVerxx Because it obviously doesn't sound like BMTH. They're not that low to steal songs. Second, this song was released somewhere between '99-'03. BMTH was formed in '04 and made little shit songs like Traitors don't play hangman. The only song they've ever covered was Eyeless by Slipknot.

  • Comment removed

  • @RKXRules That's Bullet for my Valentine mate, not Bring Me The Horizon ;)

  • @ferociouspokemachine

How do you know that for a fact?

And don't go saying ''It's bring me the horizon'' if you're gonna kick up a fuss..

    kklolthxbye

  • @franksalido98 You are one dumb motherfucker! -.-

  • On the wikipedia page for sounding the seventh trumpet it was that Gates was NOT in the band at the time

  • i swear this version is way better than the WTF one NOT INSULTING the other one but this one just has all the screaming and the fast beat i just LOVE IT <3

  • Zacky did a pretty fucking good job with the solo

  • @DeathBatFan6661

It's Syn. Zacky's self taught, and no where near that good.

  • @jeleopard Well if this is really a demo off of "STST" then its Zacky, considering Syn did no work on "STST"(except for To End the Rapture). And Zacky is able to play most of the stuff Syn can play, they wouldn't be as compatible as they are if he couldn't

and for the record, im self taught too, and I can play stuff like this

being self taught has nothing to do with anything.

Slash is self taught go tell him hes not as good as Syn...

    Oh and Jimmy Page too

  • @DeathBatFan6661

    Slash isn't self taught.

    Besides, he's bad.

    PAge had music lessons too.

lolololol. The only guitarist that's SUPER GOOD and is self taught is Dave Mustaine. But even then, there's guitarists better than he is.

  • @jeleopard Umm yeah he is

he got kicked out of school and taught himself how to play guitar when they wouldnt let him back in...

and how the fuck can you say Slash is bad? Do you have fucking ears?

And page was mostly self taught, he had some friends help him out but other than he taught himself.

and I would say Zacky is a pretty fucking good rhythm guitarist...

  • @DeathBatFan6661

Yea, Zacky is good, but the best metal rhythm guitarist is by far Kerry King of Slayer.

And Slash sucks. So much. Cause the cool thing to do is to whore yourself out and get money! RIGHT!?

    Slash. Sucks. Dick.

  • @jeleopard i think dave mustaine is probably i bit better of a rythm player, live hes alot cleaner while playing more complicated rythms

  • @DOUGLAS300000000

I saw both, Slayer and Megadeth live, and while Dave is good, Kerry is far better at rhythm. Look for the video of Kerry and Dimebag jamming together.

  • @jeleopard

    what about van halen?

  • @produccionesmiranejo

    I severely dislike Eddie.

  • @jeleopard

    But he is self taught.

  • @produccionesmiranejo

I'd believe it. The guy is partially retarded.

  • @jeleopard

Why? He is a great guitarrist and he has some really good riffs.

Ok you tell me, what's wrong with him?

  • @produccionesmiranejo

I literally mean that guy isn't 100% there XD

And I'm just not a fan of him.

  • syn was in the band when they made Sounding the seventh trumpet! why did you say this was when syn wasnt in the band? Johny Christ was the one who wasnt in the band for that album. plus, there is NOOOO fucking way that Zacky could play that solo during this time period, he could barely play rhythm. You need to get ur facts straight!

  • @KevinFuxurMOM1993 Well, if you paid a little attention, you'd notice that there is a difference in the solo, it's a little simpler. Syn did in fact join the band AFTER Sounding the Seventh Trumpet was complete. On the CD, it specifically says Synyster Gates appears on "To End the Rapture" (Which was originally done on piano). If they were so precise with his crediting, why do YOU think he was on the whole cd? This solo was all Zacky and when they recorded WTF, Syn took it over and beefed it up.

  • @Eclipse1988 I totally agree with you, Syn came into the band and the only thing he recorded on STST was To End The Rapture, everything else was Zacky V so you're right!

  • @Eclipse1988 Well, I agree with you for the most part, but this demo had nothing to do with Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. It was on a compilation CD called "Hopelessly Devoted to You Vol. 4," which was in 2002. Syn had joined a couple years before that, so it probably was Syn who had played the solo on this demo.

  • @bakaxninja Everyone here has their own idea of things. I guess unless we heard it from the band themselves, we'd never know. I hear a difference in the playing. Not to insult Zacky, but the solo is sloppier than the way Gates plays it, the solo is played differently (there are less notes, which is why I said Syn beefed it up). In your truth, is it Syn? Could be. But keep in mind: A.) the sound of it and B.) this solo isn't THAT hard, a lot of triplets, I don't think it's beyond Zacky's ability.

  • @Eclipse1988 oh heell now i understand i've hearded the other better version and i didn's understand! lol and yeah inoticed the difference in the solo :)

  • @Eclipse1988 oh heell now i understand i've hearded the other better version and i didn's understand! lol and yeah inoticed the difference in the solo :)

  • @Eclipse1988 I'm sorry mate, but you're wrong too. Syn joined before they even started writing Waking the Fallen. This solo is played by him. He joined in 2000. WTF came out in 2003.

  • I said Syn improved the solo when they recorded WTF, not that he joined when they were recording it. There is in fact a demo of Second Heartbeat written during the production of Sounding the Seventh Trumpet (pre gates). The song was withheld from the album because A. STST was long enough, B. They wanted to use that song on their next album to give themselves time to perfect it. That's from the band, if I'm wrong, A7X is wrong. Syn recorded the ALBUM version, the song was WRITTEN before him.

  • @Eclipse1988 Could you prove it? Because as far as I'm concerned, every source of information I've looked at has confirmed my words, not yours.

  • I can't find any links to send you or anything. All I can say is, If he joined in '00, how can he have written notes to a song that was developed in mid '99? This particular version of second heartbeat I believe was off an old Hopeless records sampler CD called Hopelessly Devoted to You Vol.4 (that CAN be googled). The two songs A7X have on that CD (2nd hrtbt, Drknes surrounding) were used as attention grabbers WAY before WTF. For the song to be demoed in '00-'02, it must have been made b4 syn.

  • @Eclipse1988 I disagree there. Second Heartbeat, as far as what I've heard goes, was written in 2002. It could have quite easily made it on to the CD if it was written in the same year. And, as for Zacky being sloppy, if you watch 2003 footage of Eternal Rest, Syn misses about 25% of the into solo.

I'm not arguing with you or trying to be rude or anything, I'm just wondering where your info's coming from.

Sorry if I'm pissing you off or anything.

  • To each his own. What matters to me is you're a fan and I'd rather have a chat like this than read more shit about little kids who think they suck because they dont scream as much anymore lol. I got my info a while ago, I don't remember in detail where from. In any case I wouldnt be surprised IF zack pulled this baby off. I think a lot of people (other than fans) underestimate him. I also had a feeling he played this because I read in some metal mag interview that he was "tired of doing lead".

  • @monkeywrench97 To me, that was a hint that he played more technical solos than what was heard on STST. I honestly forgot the name of the magazine. I read this like 3 years ago, but from what I remember he said something like "Yeah, we let Syn in because he ruled guitar and Zacky was getting tired of doing the solos." It's not exactly what they said, but that was the jist of it. Eh, whatever anyway I'm spending more energy than it's worth.

    -Cheers

  • In any case, I heard mixed things from other people and I watched a few misplaced interviews. All I know is I'll never forget the shock of it when I heard that Zack was in fact making a raw track of the solo. Syn took it and made it into what you hear today by adding his "King Midas" guitar touch lol. No offense to Zack, but I just feel the solo here is too sloppy to be Syn. In the album version there are more notes, played cleaner. Remember, Zack harmonizes with Syn, so he can keep this pace.

  • @Eclipse1988 Syn joined A7X at the end of '99.He was also featured on WotS EP.

  • Comment removed

  • @Eclipse1988 Syn joined in 99, The album was made in 03'... So the demo was probably made in 2000-2002... Maybe early 2003. It's Syn playing the solo. The solo is different but not enough to not tell it's him.

  • @Eclipse1988 you are definitely right sir lol ive been an a7x fan since they frist came around & they did sounding the seventh trumpet without syn & then re released it with him . glad to know there's an a7x fan that isnt some poser & knows what they're talking about

  • @Kovy1008 Thank god, I was getting so much shit here I was starting to wonder lol. And yes, I'm definately a real fan, haha. I Didn't start back in 1999, but i did my homework lol.

    -Cheers!

  • @Eclipse1988 lol ive been into them for a while , i went to warped tour & they were performing sounding the seventh trumpet & M shadows wife was handing out waking the fallen demos :P

  • @Eclipse1988 Little difference? There's a big difference :O!!! Syn's take on the solo has way more feeling on top of the fact that Syn plays it cleaner as well. Although Zack does play if faster though.... it doesn't have that feel Syn gave it when they re-recorded it.

  • @KevinFuxurMOM1993

Barely play rhythm? Listen to An Epic of Time Wasted and The Art of Subtle Illusion. The guitar in that is really all over the place. That was Zacky on lead. Zacky did lead for STST minus To End the Rapture. This is Syn on lead.

  • @KevinFuxurMOM1993 you sound dumb lol

  • Play That shit zacky!

  • whoa, if this is zackys solo, then why is syn the lead??????

  • @Jak2star they trade off through out songs if you haven't noticed :P

  • this solo is from Zacky Vengeance? OMFG

  • considering bring the horizon weren't even a band when this song was wrriten hardly think it's them ... just saying :L

  • I'm not a fan of screaming vocals, but M Shadows did a good job on this.

  • what i find wierd is that that screaming sounds almost nothing like shad.....but thats DEFINATELY syn and rev

  • this is better heavier than the original 7:00 song

  • @jinrex015 this one is the og one

  • @jonnyboe correct me if I am wrong but in their waking the fallen album the "second heartbeat" song length for 7:00, so which is really the original one???

  • @jinrex015 this would be the original. as its their demo for what is on waking the fallen

  • @MichaelFindlater thanks, mate!

  • @jinrex015 the official is from waking the fallen, which is longer, beause they slowed the song down a bit

  • @Jak2star well I don't know what's the origin of this song and when they record and release this, but I'm pretty sure that this is better than the original, and it sounded like this was taken from their album "sounding the seventh trumpet" because all of their song in that album sounded like this, heavier than that "waking the fallen" songs

  • @jinrex015 this ones the original...this is their demo before waking the fallen

  • @jonnyboe wait! what?

  • @jinrex015

This is the original. WTF version is about 90 BPM. This feels more 120. Maybe 110.

  • I like this version more"

  • The fucking drumming on this is amazing, R.I.P Jimmy

  • @blakester100 thats what I ment, syn re did rapture.

  • @leaderliter syn joined after sounding the seenth trumpet. Watch the dvd the band put out.they later remastered the cd with syn playing.

  • @RickyGinge13 they only have syn playing rapture though

they even say so on the ablum itself

he didnt do any other tracking until WTF

  • fucking raw

    I love it

  • This is the same song as the one with Syn isn't it? Cuz nothing is different. The solo, the drums, matt's voice. Everything

  • First of all, why is that directed at me? Secondly, it is in the exact same key. And thirdly, if it was just sped up why is the solo different and why is the middle section different?
