Wow, this could be my son! Identical behaviour. Same fascination with books, opening and closing parts of toys, dropping toys, stimming. Honestly, identical. Even does the same type of stim when we say hello to him. He is 13 months and we are scheduled to start early intervention next week. I've felt he was off since around 10 months. Does this kind of stim at lights as well. Did your son scratch walls, vents, fans and constantly open and close drawers?
Hi my 8yr old son has Asperger's diagnosed at age 4. The tic you were talking about at around 4 min. is the exact thing my son does. He has changed a little over the yrs and is now basically down to hand flapping behind his back and rocking from foot to foot. He use to have his hand high over his head flapping with his mouth wide open even sqeeling some times. He tells me it is when he gets excited his body just needs to do it. He says it makes him feel better and that he can not help but do it
@ super, at this point epilepsy has been ruled out and these tics have changed into an array of other odd body movements which leads me to believe it is a stim, but it was VERY scary in the process. Thank you for your comment and please feel free to watch Carter's videos, I love input from people like you ;)
It's hard to tell, this is such a small insight into your beautiful boy & his world. But you're doing the right thing, doing everything you can to get him & yourselves the help you all need & deserve. I hope you get the help you need. Having worked with children in Birmingham Children's Hospital (UK) & in the neurophysiology department (as well as my studies, which include health science & human biology) there's a small chance it could be epilepsy. But there are other possibilities inc. autism.
cure. I know your comment was meant to make me feel better but it didn't so many fearful mothers and hushed and shushed by family and even pediatricians saying what you said. EARLY INTERVENTION is the only thing that seems to have shown progress with these children and the earlier its detected the better, so before you hush or shush someone remember the statistics...
He was dx by the very best nuerologist in miami, and then several months later again by a licensed team of psychologists, speech therapists. I have him on a stricy gluten free and dairy free diet and have read everybook and pushed down every door to get my child the services his condition requires, Ipost on you tube for mothers that are in fear can see and relate to a A-typical child with autism as it is now 1 in 37 boys and 1 in 56 children, it is an epidemic and there is no cause and no
@mercy I know you comment was with good intentions...that said he doesn't have selective hearing and he is not my first child...Carter has been dx with autism, enchepolopathy, ocd, hyperlexia, echolalia, and sensory intergration issues. He vomits with sight and or feeling of textures, has very limited eye contact and has had a team of therapists in my home 7 days aweek for the past 1 1/2.
He seems a normal child of his age- his daddy was saying Hi, Say Hi and he was waving back? I take it he's your first? All kids have selective hearing honey, dont worry ,enjoy your child the early years are awesome !
Hi, we did get dx about a year ago, he was dx with pd-nos , and hyperlexia. He is 2 1/2 and doing well, except for joint attention (looking in the eyes) and food sensativities...if you want to chat messsage me and i will give u my #
.... My daughter is doing the same things.... the "stimming" But I have 2 little boys ages 6 & 3 yrs... they both have aspergers. They didn't do any of this. My daughter has only said momma dadda and uh oh... she waves and thats it... but she will kick her legs and flap her arms and seem really excited then its on to something else... did you ever get a diagnosis for Carter??
Carter is 14 months here ;) He has come along way making many improvments with intense therapy....HE had just started to walk in this video, now only walks on his tipee toes...The ot says it is a sensory seeking behavior...
I noticed he turned to daddy making a loud squeaking noise, my son will turn to that noise and whistling. He also loves tv static and the fire alarm! He will start laughing when everyone else is running to make it stop!
My son has been acting the same. He doesn't respond to his name, only once in a while. He does point to everything, claps, he started signing a few words, talk a few words, but what is bothering me is that it feels like he is in his own world but then when I take him outside he runs and laugh and plays and looks at me to play. He is 14 months old and I don't know if I am overreacting or if I should insist my Ped for early intervention, but mom says he's acting like a normal baby. thoughts
He seems to respond better to the male voice (dad?). He is waving and following commands which are all very typical. Have you had any speech and hearing tests done? My daughter at that age would spin constantly, never respond to her name, never pointed or waved, and obsessively lined toys. Hes very cute, by the way!
2 see if it spins, if it dont he'll walk away, if it does he'll do it again n again.. I'm not saying theres anything going on with ur son but I'm a mum like u trying 2 get anwsers so I just thought I'd share the simularities I saw....
I cant get over how cute he is lol but other than thinking hes adorable I just wanted 2 say, My boys r always investigating toys but never playing with them how there supposed 2 b play'd with.. The toy hes got with the door, he seems more interested in repetatively opening n closing that lil flap thing than he does doing anything else with it.. when he throws things 2 the floor like the control pad for example, Dylan does that all the time but its usually
