lol well, that's your opinion... i personally have only tried a Zune once so I can't say much about it, and don't have anything against it, but if given the choice between the 2, I would go for the iPod, just because I'm already familiar with it, i use iTunes already and well... they look better. lol... there are reasons why Apple owns 73% market share of the portable media player market, and Microsoft Zune only has 1.1%.
Because it's awkward to even own one, nobody has them. I don't know if they really suck, but I wouldn't buy one, just because of the size and the fact that everyone else has an ipod.

i got my 120gb ipod classic for $220 and I love it... i think iPod and Zune are both great mp3 players, it just depends on personal preference with the interface and design, because they both have really good features too.
The Zune's screen might be bigger but the resolution is the same if not worse. Even the Nano's 2" screen has the same 320x240 resolution as the Zune's 3.2" screen.

Have you ever tried to watch movies on a Nano? There comes a point where screen resolution doesn't matter if the screen is too small.. It doesn't matter if the Nano had 1920 x 1080 resolution, it's too damn small to watch movies with. Even those 3" screens is pushing it.
I'll never own an iPod because last time I tried to add my music to iTunes it grabbed about 1/3 of it and refuses to add the other 2/3...(6000~ songs) Zune software on the other hand is perfect...
@LousyHeroes The nano's screen is too small, but that device was built to be as small as possible and of course it has to sacrifice something. iTunes is what it is, I don't have any problems with it on a Mac but I know it isn't the same on Windows. If you get a Zune based on those problems it's understandable.

Because when people edit fast motion films, they want as much ghosting as humanly possible, so nobody can make heads or tails of what's going on. That being said, it feels great knowing my $200 dollar monitor not only shares the same viewing angle, but supports a wider array of colors and can process fast imagery much quicker.
@WarbossGorgutz Yes, you're right. Having a display with that resolution running faster is very expensive. Like I said before, it's almost impossible to have a LED display with such a high resolution to have a super fast refresh rate, super fast response time, highly accurate colors and wide viewing field. @pjdaprinz Just so you know I think you have some figures wrong as 800" would be 66.6666667 feet which is the equivalent of 11 rather tall men standing head to toe against each other. also 2000 lines isn't anything special to put it in perspective it's roughly a resolution of 2048x1080, which is more commonly known as 2.2MP in other words mobile phones are capable of taking photos of much higher resolutions (Note I didn't say recording as 720p is still the latest thing in videos on mobiles.)

You're right, phones can take pictures at a higher resolution, but when you look at a 8MP picture on your phone screen, you're not seeing 8 mio. pixels. You're looking at a re-sized image to fit the screen.
Holding the iPod and Zune 2' in front of your eyes, the picture will look better on the one with the smaller screen with the same resolution.
@blargd Oh, and the 2.2MP not being "something special". Well it becomes special when you have to display at least 24 2,2MP pictures per second. That requires a lot of processing power.
Just pause it, its an iPod with a pretty little orange polka dotted case. The screen and click wheel obviously show its an iPod, let alone the fact that with a small look one can see its running the iPod Classic software. :p.
I can spend $15 a month for all the music I want and have trouble keeping my Zune under 80GB so...if I still used my 80GB iPod(that I sold for $20.00 cuz no one wanted it for more), I'd probably be down over $1,000 at least just to have the same music collection. No thanks, have a blackberry to browse the web anyways.
your spending $5 a month to *rent* all the music you want and get 10 songs you *own* for $10 a month. Only difference is your renting songs vs iTunes. Otherwise the price you are paying is the same for what you *own*. You stop paying you loose all that music you rented.
Most other people just listen to internet radio (it's free).
I have a 45 minute drive to work that's where I use my Zune. It's a subscription so yes you are renting but at the same time compared to a phone/cable bill. It's nothing. Or you could just steal for free but that honestly takes a lot more effort. and for the $15 a month for my girlfriend and I to use I'll just stick with that, I tried using an iPod w/ iTunes and in all honestly it was a headache in every comparison.
I'd rather buy all the music rather than renting it because that'll only add up over time. iTunes is a POS, we all know that, but at least the most important part is extremely simple: adding songs and removing from player. (It's drag and drop.)
That's really what it came down to, iTunes needed me to update all the info on every mp3 I put in just so I could make it show up correctly in the iPod. Sure I could buy in iTunes and pay 4x as much, what it really came down to is that the Zune subscription does all that for less than I was paying to own music. What most people get hung up on is not having the cd anymore but I never use em so it made no difference.
Tiny market share if we're talking computers. I use macs for work, especially in the sciences, but for cost/benefit it's MS every time. Also you spelled "their" wrong. Apple may be taking advantage of old ideas and building on them, but Microsoft really isn't far behind. When they do wise up, I can guarantee you they'll do a better job than apple.

I do. After owning multiple iPods, I couldn't be happier. Had the Zune forever, no issues at all. All of my iPods lasted a year or so. Apple is much more stingy when it comes to planned obsolescence of their products.
Really? I've had 3 iPods: the original generation I, generation V classic (upgraded just from time), and my current generation II touch (Christmas present). The only problem I've encountered is when I broke my touch screen, which they replaced for free out of pity. Additionally, they do often upgrade; however, most are unnecessary until several generations forward so why would you buy what you already have?

Now, this may be just my opinion, but iPod is waaaay better than Zune. Imagine the highest number that you can, and then multiply it by itself (if that doesn't make your brain explode, Windows people). The resulting number is how much worse the Zune is.

You're wrong, in the movies you have about 2000 lines , IMAX even 7000 lines.
Full HD has 1080 lines DVD only 400-520 so no, the resolution is NOT the same.
The average tv screen is about 46" big, the average cinema acreen around 800".
The little bigger screen with the same resolution gives you probably 4" in distance and looks much crappier.
You probably don't know that and Microsoft only works with people's ignorance (see new Microsoft ads)!
Sometimes bigger is not better for some dude! =)

actually SD is 640x480, but it can vary.
it is not dvd quality in theatre, it actually runs on a roll, so i dont even know what your talking about with "lines"

It uses an IPS, LED backlit, 178º!!! view angle (‘in-plane switching’) panel, NOT a TN (‘twisted nemantic’) you have in your cheap monitor. Before you Google the meaning of this, let me help you understand.
This is a monitor for professional designers/film editors with budget, not a broke a** uninformed WoW gamer. I guess you also buy photo cameras based on pixels.

Because when people edit fast motion films, they want as much ghosting as humanly possible, so nobody can make heads or tails of what's going on. That being said, it feels great knowing my $200 dollar monitor not only shares the same viewing angle, but supports a wider array of colors and can process fast imagery much quicker.

@WarbossGorgutz Yes, you're right. Having a display with that resolution running faster is very expensive. Like I said before, it's almost impossible to have a LED display with such a high resolution to have a super fast refresh rate, super fast response time, highly accurate colors and wide viewing field. @pjdaprinz Just so you know I think you have some figures wrong as 800" would be 66.6666667 feet which is the equivalent of 11 rather tall men standing head to toe against each other. also 2000 lines isn't anything special to put it in perspective it's roughly a resolution of 2048x1080, which is more commonly known as 2.2MP in other words mobile phones are capable of taking photos of much higher resolutions (Note I didn't say recording as 720p is still the latest thing in videos on mobiles.)

You're right, phones can take pictures at a higher resolution, but when you look at a 8MP picture on your phone screen, you're not seeing 8 mio. pixels. You're looking at a re-sized image to fit the screen.
Holding the iPod and Zune 2' in front of your eyes, the picture will look better on the one with the smaller screen with the same resolution.

@blargd Oh, and the 2.2MP not being "something special". Well it becomes special when you have to display at least 24 2,2MP pictures per second. That requires a lot of processing power.
Recording that amount of data is even worse.

I can spend $15 a month for all the music I want and have trouble keeping my Zune under 80GB so...if I still used my 80GB iPod(that I sold for $20.00 cuz no one wanted it for more), I'd probably be down over $1,000 at least just to have the same music collection. No thanks, have a blackberry to browse the web anyways.

your spending $5 a month to *rent* all the music you want and get 10 songs you *own* for $10 a month. Only difference is your renting songs vs iTunes. Otherwise the price you are paying is the same for what you *own*. You stop paying you loose all that music you rented.
Most other people just listen to internet radio (it's free).

I have a 45 minute drive to work that's where I use my Zune. It's a subscription so yes you are renting but at the same time compared to a phone/cable bill. It's nothing. Or you could just steal for free but that honestly takes a lot more effort. and for the $15 a month for my girlfriend and I to use I'll just stick with that, I tried using an iPod w/ iTunes and in all honestly it was a headache in every comparison.

I'd rather buy all the music rather than renting it because that'll only add up over time. iTunes is a POS, we all know that, but at least the most important part is extremely simple: adding songs and removing from player. (It's drag and drop.)

That's really what it came down to, iTunes needed me to update all the info on every mp3 I put in just so I could make it show up correctly in the iPod. Sure I could buy in iTunes and pay 4x as much, what it really came down to is that the Zune subscription does all that for less than I was paying to own music. What most people get hung up on is not having the cd anymore but I never use em so it made no difference.

In June 2008 (just did a quick search), Apple was up 1384% for a 5 year span. MS was down 2.45%
Also, look at last quarters earnings. You might want to change "right now", to "over there lifetime". Right now, Apple is winning in a big way.

Tiny market share if we're talking computers. I use macs for work, especially in the sciences, but for cost/benefit it's MS every time. Also you spelled "their" wrong. Apple may be taking advantage of old ideas and building on them, but Microsoft really isn't far behind. When they do wise up, I can guarantee you they'll do a better job than apple.

I just got a new sexy Ipod Touch the other day. Took less than an hour to fully charge and jailbreak. I have never been happier with a $350 purchase, except for that time I got a hooker that brought her own cocaine. And my ipod was still here the next morning, so right there its better money spent.

I do. After owning multiple iPods, I couldn't be happier. Had the Zune forever, no issues at all. All of my iPods lasted a year or so. Apple is much more stingy when it comes to planned obsolescence of their products.

Really? I've had 3 iPods: the original generation I, generation V classic (upgraded just from time), and my current generation II touch (Christmas present). The only problem I've encountered is when I broke my touch screen, which they replaced for free out of pity. Additionally, they do often upgrade; however, most are unnecessary until several generations forward so why would you buy what you already have?
