I don't think Vegeta coul cause significant damage to Goku...the power difference would be at least like that between Vegeta himself and Frieza when the latter beat him up and killed him in Namek, but any blow he could give to Goku would mean a lot of power for Buu.

Also,even in SS2 form,Goku could've beaten Vegeta,he was holding back...just look at how they did when they fought Kid Buu in that form...it's true Goku could barely keep up,but Vegeta was totally outclassed.
