Thanks Chimbo65 for your info. Is it true, tho, that the Swinging Blue Jeans had their hit with Hippy Hippy Shake b4 the Beatles did?
Cronkite2008 2 years ago
Well yes you are right.
Paul McCartney suggested that the Jeans
did "Hippy Hippy Shake" because Paul thought it went down so well at The Cavern. The Beatles only did it on BBC
never on a "real" record.

Of all the British Invasion bands the Swinging Blue Jeans were probably the most accomplished musicians!
As fate would have it, they turned down an appearance on the Ed Sullivan show honouring a previous commitment to tour Sweden!
Talk about misplaced priorities or perhaps integrity?!

The Swinging Blue Jeans had a signed contract for a tour in Scandinavia,so it was too late to say yes to a tour of America.
I have known them since 1980,so
do not doubt it.
Highest compliment: These guys rock!

did thease guys right hippy shake or was it the beatles?
Chan Romero wrote it in 1958 and had a hit with it in 1959. That's how the Beatles heard it. These guys took it to #1 all over Europe in 1964.
stratman123 3 years ago
Neither. Do not know who did. Do know this band released their version first.
Cronkite2008 3 years ago
Oh no.
Hippy Hippy Shake was written by Chan Romero who had hit with it first.
But the Jeans had an even bigger hit
with it,along with four other songs.

Great band, very underrated. They also played in Hamburger at the same time the Beatles were there.
