  • Oh my God! Too many yellow dancers!

  • @jk7kyriazis Israel was competing in Eurovision, performing in Germany for the 1st time since the end of WWII. The yellow was to commemorate the resurrection of the Jewish spirit after the deaths of over 6 million Jews [out of 10million] at the hands of the german nazis and their muslim allies during the war of hell. The Jews were forced to wear the YELLOW star as they were killed in the most heinous ways possible. Watch "World At War" if you don't believe me.

  • no creo que haya sido a proposito que una judia utilizara a sus compañeros en color amarillo (el usado para los judios en la WWII) cantando sigo viva en Alemania., ella es sin duda la mejor cantante judia-yemenita de toda la historia... I think is a mere coincidence signing She's still alive along with yellow dressed dancers in Germany.... She really had guts!

  • I read that Israel might not be in ESC next year.

  • )israel is in the size of sixth of the state of NY (22,072 square km

you want us to give 25%(5,860 square km) of our historical home to people who were brought here by the turks and british from all the giant muslim world to be workers or to fight in their wars and if you dont know that then please go and read some , because the simple thruth is that the 4 million arabs living in the land of Israel are the true occupiers that immigrated/brought here from what is now 22 gigantic muslim countries

  • all of you americans or european that have become middle east experts all of the sudden :

the palestinians cant have a border with jordan !!!! it wont happen !! its to risky for us and we have already took such a risk - with the mass murderer arafat who

  • a special moment for us eurovision freaks

    always love ya Ofra

  • @dabadee I'm sorry if I offended. Was not my intention. Thanks for the tip, it was incredibly one-sided but helped me to understand the problem more. Being from Finland, I know a lot about living next to a deadly, dangerous neighbour ( not Sweden). We tried both ways with the situation. The way we liked less was the way that worked. Long live Israel, and all who love peace. I still love this song.

  • @SPQSpartacus I have friend in Finland and he has a rifle from his father in his office still looking to east which means Russia. He told me the story and you are right. But I think there are some differences between the dangerous neighbours. Russia maybe would like to invade you but arab countries would like to kill and wipe out everybody in Israel and they are stating that clearly. I think this is a great difference and so you are luckier :)

  • Oh, this makes me cry. I was nine and I loved this song. I used to be very much pro Israel. Now I can't. For the sake of your own souls: go down Moses, let Palestine go. Long live Israel, long live Palestine.

  • @SPQSpartacus

i hate it when Israeli music videos become a scene for pro/anti Israeli propaganda, but now that you brought it up, it seems you are not well informed.

Israel is not a colonialist occupier like Turkey, UK and France were. there is nothing Israel would like more than to have an independent Palestinian state if only it was possible.

and its not possible for very simple reasons. For a simple explenation look for a youtube video titled "Prager University: The Middle East Problem"

  • @dabadee 600 new settlements only this week... strange way of help a territory becoming independent...

  • @SPQSpartacus

when will the palestinians come up with a song about life instead of death and shaheeds?

its the support by people like you that gives them the drive to continue trying to kill us.

  • @israeligirly That and the occupation of their territories...

  • How the hell is Pakistan participating in Eurovision? lol

  • as the song say !

    AM ISRAEL CHAI !

    long live israel :)

  • Wasn't this song called "Khay"?

Apparently that means "alive" in the language. Correct me if I am wrong.

  • @forecast1000:...But in our Hearts she'll live forever!..:-)

  • rest in peace Ofra, we miss you alot:-(

  • How did this not win its beautiful

  • why everything has to be politised every f****ing time!! i don't care if the yellow color symbolises something or what chai or hi means in hebrew. yeah the germans killed so many jews back then but what about the israelis all these years with the palestinians?????????? god damn it i didn't like this song back then and i still don't like it ate asixtir pou dame

  • That´s trash!!!

  • @woehlerstrasse

And you are obviously a nazist german piece o shit.

  • the songs is called "chai"! Not "Hi"!

    Chai means Life

  • @Seldinchen actually it means Alive

  • I prefer this faster live version! Ofra lives in our hearts and I support all the jews who don´t want to became muderers as the germans were! It´s so sad to realize the Holocaust was not the last nor the worst genocide in the 20th century. Shame on you, humanity:(

  • While yellow is pretty to some and not others, it is a color that jews have been made to wear many times over the centuries by those who hated them and their religion. Wearing it for this performance was like taking the color and owning it and giving it a new life with a song about survival and loving humanity.

  • Fantastic

  • great song

  • unbelievable that the stupid Luxembourgish song has won that year and not this... I adore Ofra and her whole oeuvre....

  • the winner

  • its 'chai' not 'hi'.

but great song. she shouldve won.

  • Ofra was better than Corinne. Corinne had also an awsome voice, but I can't feel her song. I think Ofra sang with more feeling.

  • rip : I didn´t heard this for a long time, so thanks for posting it.

  • R.I.P

  • should have won. Magnificient

  • One of the best Eurovision songs ever.

  • The correct transliterated title is "Chai", not "Hi".

Awesome performance. This should be Israel's "happy" national anthem, to go along with the "sad" HaTikvah.

  • Why does it say Hi on the boarder with the song in the video from the German broadcaster ?

  • Best Song

    1983

    I Love

    Ofra Haza

  • HAI!

    AM YISRAEL HAI!!

    SHALOM.

  • the best song of esc 1983 should had WON !!! HI !!!!!!

  • An everburning star!

  • Viva Israel!! Great song which I´ll always remember...

    Greetings from Finland ;)

  • Ofra Haza was a vocal goddess, and this song symbolized everything Israel stood for, and still does.

  • השיר הזה היה צריך לזכות. לאיזה מקום הוא הגיע?

which place was this song in the end?

  • מקום שני לצערי,איזה שיר די גרוע עקף אותנו משום מה...

  • read please the comment of bar3000 ... S_S

  • Sorry, but...Could you tell me what does yellow colour mean? Thanks.

  • Should had won!

  • love Jisrael. canzone meraviglose. Viva Israele !!!

  • GOD BLESS ISRAEL FOR EVER AND EVER...

  • Shalom Al Yisrael!

  • She was gorgeous. :-) You get my vote. It is a beautiful song with music.

    Greetings from Korea.

  • I just watched Waltz With Bashir for the first time, and felt the need to come here and hear this.

  • Excellent performance.

  • love her!

  • Such a loss to the world of music. Ofra Haza was the best singer from Israel.

  • It would have been a sophisticated, ambitioned and very dignified winning song!!!

  • Ofra a gagné dans nos coeurs.

  • amazing.

israeli song that says "Israel is alive" on the Germany Eurovision stage , wearing yellow... wow..

  • @bar3000 is yellow a special color in the israelic culture?

  • @sushifornico

    Not realy. (Im from Iseael)

  • @sushifornico

    Not realy (I'm from Israel)

  • they designed the outfits in yellow to remind the yellow badge!!

this competition took place in germany...

  • @weitmanm

yes I'm sure they did. ABSOLUTELY.

  • @sushifornico

It's a color they chose because it took place in Germany and they wanted to give the bastards a little reminder of the yellow holocaust "Juden" badge

  • @bar3000

Oh Yeah, The Designer was Dorin Frankfurt. She chose the yellow on her own free will. Years later on an interview she said "I thought, Oh well, yellow. Why not give the Germans a little reminder of the past?" that babe rocks.

  • @bar3000 great comment :)

Long live israel :) we're beautiful! viva art! RIP ofra

    make love NOT WAR!!!!!

  • @KobiandMadge hahahaha...what a comment... lol!

  • @bar3000 what do you think is special in wearing yellow?

  • @euromaitre

Yellow was chosen because during the 3rd Reich in Germany Jews were forced to wear a yellow badge in the form of a Star of David on with the word "Jew" written on them.

Wearing yellow proudly, while singing about the Jewish people being alive, on German soil, cheesy and over patriotic as it may be, was seen as very symbolic and touching for many Jews all over the world.

  • @dabadee Well, I was thinking that way but wanted to be sure, of course I know the symbolic jew-star (david's star), I have to know, I am german. I'd like to know if Israel had the intention to use the song as a provocation, I almost can't imagine, I've read, du er svensk, hvordan gor det?

  • @euromaitre

a provocation certainly not. A message, yes. It is always a very important issue for Israelis to underline their country exists..... This is why the presence of Israel at the ESC in itself is considered so important by many Israelis.

  • @OrVirushalayim I know the Israeli's interest in demonstrate that their country really is one but apart from some nations or organizations around Israel everybody knows. Although, it is viewable that Israel presents itself very clear and very confident. But the explanation of singing "alive" in yellow dresses in Germany...I can't imagine that these symbols were chosen with intention

  • As much as I love this song (I even think it should have won rather than the overrated ballad from Luxembourg, that did win the contest), I too have often wondered, if Israel intended to provoke the Germany (that year's host country) with this entry.

  • @Furienna No wy, amigo. Just a great song!

  • @euromaitre it cant be more symbolic.. i talk about the yellow Star-of-David patch back in the 40's

  • @bar3000 I think we mean the same

  • @bar3000 Many yemenis wear yellow. You might be seeing symbolism where it was not intended. All the best.

  • @bar3000 the color was not chosen by chance.....

What is terrible is to hear Ofra Haza singing "I'm still alive"

    :-(

  • @bar3000

    what does yellow means?

  • @okannnl it's the color of the tags that the Jewish had to wear before and during WW2...

  • @ostrov1

ooow sorry. nice music meaningful lyrics and clours :) she deserved first placed.

  • קשה להבין איך לא זכתה

    ח ב ל

  • what year was this?

  • 1983

  • I can't believe this didn't win, one of the best Israeli songs to enter the contest and Ofra Haza was faultless and amazing in her performance, but that is Eurovision, hardly ever does the best song of the night win. Still this should have beaten the Luxembourg entry by a mile.

  • Part of the problem is the language.

No one understands Hebrew and no one appreciates this beautiful language anymore.

For me, Ofra was the winner (it's way before my time anyway)

  • its not the performance on the night that decided it before the public got to see the contest the performers (this is gonna sound corny but i'll say it anyway) performed their songs to the juries about 2 nights beforehand so in effect the contest had already been won by Luxembourg its just that the public didn't know yet

  • גדולה פשוט מדהימה !!!

  • The guy in the middle is about a second behind everyone else lol. One of the best ever entries though, and knocks spots off the awful overblown winner from this year

  • For Israel to send a singer to sing 'I'm still alive.. life'

on a german stage in-front of a televised audience made Israel a winner before the first vote had been cast. This song is incredibly special to jewish and Israeli people and also for anyone who believes in endurance of the human spirit. Long live the hopes of all decent human beings.

  • super!

  • I believe the Israelis always have the best songs, best voices and best dance moves in these competitions, and the country is not even IN Europe!

  • she got robbed she should have won the same in 1991.

  • my favourite in 1983 , with finland and yugoslavia

  • Am Yisroel Chai!

  • chai chai cahi !@$@#

    am israel chai! lalalal

  • long live israel

  • Israel is the best. Period.

  • amazing song!

  • Yes, you are.

  • it is interesting I have to listen to this song at least 3 times a day. Albania & Israel together forever. Im nianlu Ofra Forever RIP.

  • Ofra....we miss you

  • i so miss Ofra Haza

  • This SO should have won!

  • Hi, Hi, Hi, Ani Od Hi Hi Hi

Alive, Alive, Alive, I'm still alive alive alive

  • ye. you know shes not. you must be a very petty person.

  • I love this song. "Hi, hi, hi, am israel hi". My dad played it for me several times when I was little, and translated it. And it's Ofra Haza, one of the greatest singers in the world!!!

  • the clothing is yellow on purpose the same color of the jewish star of david patch they had to wear during the holocaust.

So there they sing "Israel's people is alive" in Germany, years later.

  • Err.. Why is she wearing white then? Let's not get carried away...

  • she's wearing white cuz she represents the new generation.

I'm not making up things, those things are published and known.

  • Beautiful song!

Ofra Haza Z"L was our greatest singer! God bless her soul and memory!

  • Hugs and kisses to Hofra :)

  • classic!

  • LOL its so fuuny how plestinens jelouse and hate on all the sucses of israel cmon palestine face it your losers!you can beat isreal WE ARE FUCKIN EMPRIA BY YOU!

  • I cant stop listen!

  • Yeah,I think she deserved first place.OK,Luxembourg's song was good too,but I think, this song was much better !

I'm not Israeli (my great-great grandfather was from Israel, then he emirgrated to Turkey, changed his name, and converted Muslim from Jewish.I'm a Muslim) but I love Israeli songs.

  • She should have won. Period.

  • this song should win every year even when its up being sung!! (..i may have gone a bit far)

  • lol jews steal? tell me is switzerland the richest country in the world? wanna know why? cause in the holocaust, they stole money from all the jews that had trusted them and put their money in their banks. destroyed all paperwork, and pretended it was all treirs. even when jewish families had paperwork of their own proving otherwise. don't speak when you don't know what you're talking about

  • i love ofra KISSES USA
