  • Apparently, after visiting 57 states Obama flew down and dragged Cuba northward until its now only 90 miles from Miami.

  • Did he say something about closing Guantanamo? He hasn't closed it .. yet .. has he? Something about, no where to send them to?

  • What the heck happened to lifting of the blockade on CUBA??? The president needs more time in office to accomplish this.

  • @TheHonda550

To accomplish this, or anything else of value.

  • injustice? how about the injustice of threatening your own US citizens with 10 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines for non-licensed travel/transactions in cuba? you wanna talk about injustice?!

  • @nickleus1977

Right, Cubans are more free to visit the US than US citizens are to visit Cuba.

  • obama why did you just renew the embargo you bastard? whitehouse (dot) gov/the-press-office/2010/09/02/presidential-memorandum-continuation-authorities-under-trading-with-enem

  • Why is it whever I hear an American president say "freedom" they make it sound like a dirty word

  • How about kick out Luis Possada and sent him to Venezuela

  • parole, parole parole soltanto parole e niente piuuuuuu

  • Fuck Obama. What about our terrorism against Cuba? What about the fact that the embargo killed and hurt more innocents than the Cuban government.

  • Fuck Obama. What about our terrorism against Cuba? What about the fact that the embargo killed and hurt more innocents than the Cuban government.

  • As a cuban i must say,, i was raised in the USA and this is the best president this Country has ever seen by the time all is set and done,, along with Abraham Lincon . Obama kept his word on lifting the embargo. Good jog!

  • You Mean Good SwiM!!

  • @LadeOnline obama just renewed the embargo on september 2.

  • He says the right stuff, But does the wrong stuff . . . He is a PUPPET

  • @teagarden8650 You're talking about my family, bitch!

  • @Killermuffin1 and mine too dont fuck with cubans

  • @teagarden8650 Perhaps his policy should be to send bigots and bitches like you back to hell mother fucker.

  • More US hypocrisy:

WASHINGTON (AFP) — The United States announced Thursday it has retained communist Cuba on a list of countries that allegedly support terrorism.

The State Department report lumping Cuba with Iran, Syria and Sudan was released weeks after US President Barack Obama made overtures to Havana, which is under a decades-old embargo, by lifting curbs on travel and money transfers.

Cuba has never been involved in terrorism but the US is still protecting anti-Cuban air terrorists.

  • i wish obama do something soonn

  • Keep in mind MOST of Miamis Cuban rep politicians do NOTHING at all. They are the most self serving probably most corrupt politicians in USA. They use the "Cube libre" and "Castro this and that " to herd the voters to keep themselves in power. These assorted flunky Mayors, councils, etc have NOTHING to do with foreign polict its high time Miami Cubans wake the hell up. I hope Pres Obama starts real change as the FAILED outdated Cuban junta policy has NOT worked.

  • Obama is my hero !

  • Obama is cool.

But he made a BIG mistake choosing a communist as US ambassador in Mexico.

I hope Carlos Pascual must quit before he become a martyr like Clouthier, Colosio, Agilar Zinser or Camilo Mouriño.

    Communists and Emos are scum.

  • After everything he is doing I hope no one tries to kill him.

  • When people mention a threat from Cuba I think of the rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail: "What's it going to do, nibble your bum?"

  • for the first time in years, I am starting to respect the USA.... about time... Obama may actually, given time fix the world... optimistic.... maybe, but for fuck sake, there is so so much negatives in world !! he may not be my leader, but he is one of the most powerful men in the world...... let's hope..

  • Fuck you. Always respect God's America or I will kill you. And I hate fucking ellipsis, stop using them, frenchy.

  • FOXNEWS2789FOXNEWS, You will kill me? you fucking stupid yank, mind you, your name seems to indicate your level of intellect.. I mean, fox news..... I had to pick myself up.

I give respect, where respect is due... I mean, how can I respect a fool who can't even get my nationality correct.

By the way, there is no such thing as god....

Try again, there's a good chap.

  • Fox news man, you have stated you will kill someone. I have reported your name to You Tube.

Psychiatric help will not even touch what is wrong with you. Seek professional help IMMEDIATELY.

  • I am joking, you idiot. Relax, who gives a shit about this stuff.

  • watch out america for cuba !!! this hughe and so powerfull country will use his advancet millitary tecknologie to invade the USA in a matter of half an day. Cuba ist youre bigest enemy - which seeks to destroy you. Far more powerfull then the Sowietunion .....:-)

  • Capitano, we have been buying crap from China, a Communist Country for about a decade now.

Have they invaded us? China, before the worldwide recession, produced much of the goods purchased here in the US. You are talking 1962. This is 2009.

Both country have human rights issues. But which country is worse? Cuba or China. Because of the massive population of China, I would have to state China

  • no no - cuba is your wors enemy - they will send over an army of millions of soldirs and get you with ther advanced weaponsystem - you better whipe this island of the map by an surprice nuklear attac and start puting all cubans, living in the usa in dentaition camps ..... - you better belive me ............:-)

  • wtf do u kno wat u just said u just said to kill ma family i mean dnt get me wrong i dnt like castro but u also have to think there r real people living there and they aint got no advanced weaponsystem cause believe me they dnt but sayin dat is just wrong

  • can´t you see, that i´m just taking the piss, you brain athlet ????

  • "Obama said a relationship frozen for 50 years "won't thaw overnight," and that Cuba can show it wants to move forward by lifting its own restrictions on Cubans' ability to travel and to voice their opinions...."(AP April 16, 2009)

Gee, maybe the US can show in return that US torturers and war criminals like Cheney and Bush are prosecuted, and that Obama is moving forward to end the prison industrial complex that Angela Davis has described in great detail.

  • A very nice and seemingly unselfish way of saying, "we're taking over your land too".

As the man said, next will be Darfur.

On the one hand, yeah it's good. On the other, it's going from one form of control to another with monetary chains. Oh, what to think, what to think. Is this New World Order necessary and good, or necessarily bad..?

  • Opening up ties and finances to Cuba will do more to promote democracy there than anything else tried in the last 50 years. If we had done this years ago, Castro wouldn't be in power and Cuba would have been capitalist by now.

  • Thank You very much President Obama for closing Guantanamo in one year! I feel is the best first step to make good relationship between USA and Cuba! I hope the diplomatic relationship between Cuba and USA begin soon so that the blockade can end one day! Regards from me a Cuban in Sweden,

    Hugo Darien Olivares Milá.

  • Saying "Yes we can" isnt going to make any changes. I hope Pres Obama is true to the masses who voted for him. He can begin with FBI investigations on how Black law abiding men are treated with contempt and disrespect by police like in S.Florida while Cuban politicians do nothing about it. We need to stop invading the whole world and clean up our own corrupt, messy house.

  • bullshit!!!

  • My opinion the embargo should be lifted. Then the people would have the power to oust that old fart fidel.

  • I was born in camaguey Cuba my family was here in Miami since the 50's. I came by freedom flights 1967. I have not seen where I was born. Sad I have travel all over the world expect the place I was born.

  • and as a Londoner of course i support Obama....hell the US became a little bit cool because of him! But the embargo should be fully lifted if the US really want to help relations between the countries....40 yrs with it, and it hasn't forced Cuba into Capitalism as it'd hoped....it's purely a slow and torturous procedure.

  • Obama is the beginning of the end of Liberty as we know it. One day you will wake up from your "lets change" attitude and see what not only Obama is doing but the liberal party as well. I am not a republican so don't give me that because your a republican crap. Just put the facts together. It has to start somewhere and so it does on November 4th 2008. First thing to go will freedom of Speech.

  • WAIT AND SEE

  • so if you're not a rep, then you're just plain stupid...

  • Hey Ron/suciochanch,

The only stupid one here is you! You had a taste of the cool-aid didn't you? Dumb fucks like you is what made this country what it is. A place where it's natural born citizens have to bust there ass so Hackmed the terrorist can come over here and get shit free.

  • thank u obama ,just thank u

  • I am Cuban and DO NOT support the Embargo!!

It has NOT worked for over 50 years, so why not CHANGE the policy ??? I agree with Mr. Obama all the way!!!

    LOVE THE MAN!!!

Sweden is not so good, like some one had commented in spanish, here people slepping in the streets, drogs problems, not respect at all in the trains, people rape everyday, etc

  • you know that is a lie. you sound like you've never been to Sweden..and don't use a translator to pretend you speak Spanish, it's pretty obvious when you do that

  • Oh, and if it were up to me, I'd flat out end the embargo. The fact that Republicans want the embargo actually bothers me. Unlike you, I care that Cubans in Cuba are suffering. You ever eaten a bistec empanizado made from breaded rags? They've resorted to terrible things thanks to the embargo. Supplies have to be sneaked in just to help families get by. So you called it wrong, DukeAlba. Oh and you pin the bailout on Republicans? Are you mentally retarded or do you just not understand politics?

  • I don't know why you say that I supported the embargo. I never mentioned that I was for the embargo, I'm actually against it.

  • Cuba's people suffer because of what Castro has done. Not because of what the USA has done. Many countries trade and do business with Cuba. So why does Cuba still suffer? Cuba is a communist state and communism fails every time it's been tried. As a Cuban, I want to see the the people of Cuba free, but I reject the opinion that by lifting the embargo, that somehow Cubans will be better off. I don't want my money going into the pocket of the Castro regime, because it would not go to the people.

  • wake up dude. im not even cuban. quit being a typical republican. and im not against republicans. but if you think the US has nothing to do with cubas struggle you are wrong. Communism is not failing them.

  • What castro has done? Yes i forget Castro forced the US to place an embargo on Cuba, he also forced them to try and invade Cuba, hell he even forced them to LOOT the island they so called "liberated" and leave the poor working class to suffer....yeah that was the US's version of freedom....ever heard of something called the Platt Amendment and hypocirsy.....yes that has the US written all over it! If anything Castro's regime has helped the masses in Cuba, at the cost of the rich....booo hooo

  • u know what i am cuban but first of all tha money we send doesnt even go to castro and plus u know usa kind of has a thing to do with i want them to left the embargo cause first of all cause of stupid ass bush me and my family have to wait 3 years to go to cuba and it suck cause now i dont get to see my sister for three years

  • Invasion is inevitable...hahaha democracy wil be spread dammit

  • i hope you see it soon eventvisionsinc! Cuba is beautiful!

  • My message is to Peruanista...

  • Fidel Castro is the worst thing that has ever happened to my country. I would never wish a dictator like Castro on any other country. My family and the families of millions of Cubans have left Cuba for a reason...

Venezuala is going down the old road that Cuba went down in the late 1950s. Chavez is a crook just as much as Fidel. Its dissapointing to see history repeat itself. No one hates Fidel more than Cubans themselves...

I'm sorry but we can do with LESS leaders like Castro...

  • How do you feel about America?

  • I feel that it has the leader that it deserves. America deserves Bush, it deserves the Iraq War, it deserves high gas prices, it deserves rising unemployment, it deserves a poor healthcare system, and lastly it deserves inept government.

Bush is a reflection of the American people and their values. He has failed, the same way Americans have failed as citizens to elect a competent president...

  • And you feel Clinton's wet foot, dry foot policy was what we deserved as well, you tool? Or how about when the democrats abandoned us in the bay of pigs? Or when Janet Reno sent back Elian Gonzalez? There is a reason Cubans are predominantly Republican. Gore's attitude toward the Elian Gonzalez affair probably cost him the election.

  • The only tool here is you... I'm Cuban and I'm Democrat. But I don't let Republican lies influence my vote, they like to talk tough about Cuba so that they can get your vote.... but they couldn't give less of a damn... you listen and vote for them and then they fuck you and every other American with their $700 billion bailouts. YOUR THE TOOL...

Look at our country now... I don't need 4 more years of Republican incompetence and ineptitude. Thank You.

  • Republican lies? Did I quote one thing Republican's have done? No. I talked about what the Democrats have done. You need to pay better attention. For all you know, I vote indepedent. Notice how you didn't respond to a single thing I said, except that you are a tool. You don't care that Cubans who are caught in the water are sent back? That was Clinton's policy. You don't care that Cubans were abandoned in the bay of pigs? Kennedy. Get a clue.

  • Look, your right. I don't agree with the wet foot dry foot policy. Clinton did implement the policy but it wasn't changed by the Bush admoinistration for all that he said about Cuba. Kennedy abandoned the exiles who landed at Bay of Pigs, it was wrong to send in the troops when the air support promised was not given.

But the Republicans don't give a damn either. I'm not sure that we should blame every Democrat that comes after Clinton, Kennedy for what his predecessors did before him...

  • i know right my mom swam to guantanamo bay she swam for 4 hours and she left in 1993

  • my cuban friends in cuba have similar stories....their mothers aren't anywhere near them and they have to wait years to see them....it is heartbreaking to hear what some of them say!

  • i want to see where i was born.

  • God Bless Obama! And Yes Please Obama shut down Guantanamo and be friend whit Cuba! Thank you!

  • let cuba free to see what a socialist country can do without the embargo struggle.USA uses her power to cuba like a fasist will do.Why these people must suffer so much years beacause they believe to communism?Thats the freedom that USA has in mind?

  • @vasiasm lol u sir are a dumbass ignorant. let me guess, u r mexican

  • Viva Fidel

    Viva Che

    End the Embargo !

  • You're an idiot.

  • whatever i'm just afraid this guy will give the haitians the wet foot dry foot policy too... i'm not racist but down here in miami the haitian neighborhoods are the worst ones . with drug dealing and murders amongst the haitian gangs. thats why no white president has given them the same rights as cubans!!! if they do ?? God help MIAMI

  • @ latinanovelera the cuban president need to loose up sum and i was in cuba and yes cuba need freedoom! and cuban ppl can read go back and watch ur novela

  • Then we should thank Castro for teaching us to read and keep being abused & w/o any freedom AT ALL. That's smart!

  • This is making me sick; Obama is white power inna Black face; he is no threat to this system he protects the system of exploitation and oppression; Who are Barack Obama's main advisors? they are agents of imperialism; governmental henchmen how have wreaked havoc on the world in an attempt to secure this decaying system; He is showing his true colors in this video as he did by avoiding the reparations question amongst other examples; We need a Revolution! One Africa! One Nation! Long Live Fidel!

  • Yes; long live Fidel and his oppression.

  • loony = idot? makes sense to me ;)

The american government is the most oppressive government in the world today; its very wealth comes at the expense of the toiling masses who are the working class

  • We all know Barack´s real views... he is just sucking up to The Miami Cubans it is sad really. i beleive that he knows that Cuba is not this undemocratic and evil state. He is going after this core vote. By doing this he has angered Fideland all Cubans who thought that he was a hope for change.

  • 2500 cuba people lives more than 100 years, Cuba has the best medical system in Latin America, is one of the most important countries in sports, 0% cuban people can't read. what freedom Cuba need? The same freedom of Irak? or the same freedom of Chile un 80's? o the same freedom of Afganistan? I think that Cuban democratic system is working on a new paronama, more participative.

  • Q: Have you ever been in Cuba?

    A: NO

"what freedom Cuba need?" I cant believe what I just read! You don't even know what you are saying!

  • I have been there...in my opinion, if you weigh US and Cuban abuses and benefits- its almost break even... the very problem with Cuba is that their own people cannot travel w/o permission. Honestly, its just the US who is against Cuba, Cuba imports alot of things from the U.S.. US is making money out of the embargo. While Cuban leaders are taking advantage of it.

  • Yeah but you went to places were Cubans are not even allowed, you probably didn't see any real Cuban.

  • The comment { napoleonmao } does make sense.

Now, I have been to Cuba not as a tourist, and there were times I went out with Cubans and Im the lone foreigner. I know I dont know everything, but I have been there, and my heart belongs to someone who resides there... believe me- and some of my friends too, therefore I get the taste of the difficulty they have there. But I do not agree with US's style. anyway, who knows...maybe US and Cuba are friends behind the curtain. ok?

  • Barrack Hussein Obama thinks it's time for white America to pay reparations to African Americans for the oppression of slavery. He just can't let the past go. A vote for him = death of America.

  • Taxnc25. Do you have any facts to back this up? Let me guess, You work for the RNC or as I like to call them "Team Lie".

  • I have heard his spiritual leader Reverend White's speeches. What other proof do you need? Obama looks to him for advice. He claims the white man created AIDS to kill black people. This is a fact. DO your research hippie.

  • Did Obama say any of those things? When he does write me back and let me know. Until then Barack Obama speaks for himself and so do I. I love my friends but they do not speak for me and some of them have some pretty crazy(right wing) ideas that my other "hippie" friends would disown me for if they were as foolish as you.

  • Obama has not said anything except "I have hope" Not one time has he mentioned a real, plan for change. Not once! Write me back when he decides to explain how he will change anything.

  • Nixon went to China to negotiate with Mao, a monster responsible for more deaths and atrocities than Hitler. The Chinese people are much better off because of it, certainly in terms of standard of living and access to world media and influence [ and there is a long way to go of course. Meanwhile, Cubans struggle with intractable poverty and isolation.

  • Castro destroyed Cubas potential, proving to be nothing more than another 'banana republic' dictator [ amazing there is an American clothing line with such a brand-name, eh?]. That said, belligerent US foreign policy has failed miserably to improve the lives of those still trapped on that island. Obama, a pragmatist, wants to change this.

  • Many ex-cuban comunists were happy with Obama because they saw in him the oportunity to end the embargo, go to Cuba to have sex with 10 year old girls, I`m sorry boyssssss, the embargo will go on, no no way for you sick mother fuc_ _ _, the cuban people want to be free with or without you.........

  • Obama has SO much to learn.

Why does NELSON MANDELA consider Fidel a hero?

Because it was Cuban troops, under the BRILLIANT military direction

of Fidel Castro that broke the back of the fascist apartheid regime

that was overextended in a proxy war in Angola.

CUBAN blood was shed, so that Africa could be free and apartheid

    would end forever.

Is that a WAR CRIME OBAMA?

Listen to what Nelson Mandela says about Cuba.

Then you might learn something, you weirdo!

  • I`m cuban myself, you need to learn about the war in Angola, you need to learn why many cubans were sent to Angola to figth against their will, no one in Cuba gives a shit about Angola, just like that. You had to choices, go to Angola or go to jail?? That`s why many of them went to war. DO you know that cuba spray QUIMICAL products in angola`s rivers and villas killing man and women, childrens, shit upppppp comunist.

  • Oh, geez! I like Obama, but why does he have to pander so blatantly here? He even gets as lame as to say "liberty" in Spanish and not pronounce it right.

  • If Hillary was better she would have been winning.

Obama is trying and i like that.

McCain might die in Office so he has lost my vote.

    OBAMA 08!

  • right Obama is going to bring CHANGE everywhere! He's SUPERMAN! he doesn't have A SINGLE TERM AS SENATOR UNDER HIS BELT but he promises everyone EVERYTHING! O geez and another reference to his father...

    PROMESAS, PROMESAS...

  • WHY CUBANS HAVE NO INCENTIVE TO TRUST THE US

    - The democracies around Cuba: El Salvador, Panama, Nicaragua, DR, and Haiti (very poor nations with minimum or inexistent public systems that are basically subordinates to the interests of the US)

    - Before Castro took power the CIA overthrew a democracy in Cuba and installed an illicit dictator, Baptista whom they financed for over a decade.

-What has the US done with the only part of Cuba that was not under Fidel Castro rule-Ran GUANTANAMO BAY...

  • Obama is a sell-out...another Clinton! take back US foreign policy from the hands of radical Cubans! Benefit all of Americans! Not the pseudo-American cubans! Open relations with Cuba and the result will be the same as Vietnam...many opportunities...

  • Cubans in Miami are arrogrant jerks. Obama shouldnt even waste his time on these immigrant cowards who fled their homeland.

  • obama is best for cuba and for the world..and for america

  • Obamas core position, which is essentially pragmatic, leaves him in excellent position to challenge and expose the belicose and empty headed policies that have prevailed i the Bush administration. Policies which fail to accomplish anything [ and are designed, quite cynically, to solidify thier political base].

  • obama has no business talking about things he does not understand - you do not talk to busllshit regimes like castro and the boys. If anything tighten the fucking embargo and starve them. Cuba has been the same for 50 years and this idiot thinks by talking to Castro will just change his ways, and give the people freedom. WHAT A FUCKING JOKE OBAMA IS. why doesnt Cuba talk to us? WE ARE THE BIG DOG, fuck castro

  • I honestly hope your a troll. Our policy hasn't worked for over 50 years, don't you think we should try something else?! I mean you do the same with anything else in life why not politics?

Yes, we are the big dog, but that's no reason to act like fucking bigots. No sane american WANTS the embargo on cuba. We all want to to have good relations with cuba.

Also, how do you want the US to starve cuba? We already don't trade and only a handful of people can visit presently.

  • you are so rught amigo....something must change....because if the US policy have not worked for over 50 years...to embrace the same policies with mc cain, would change nothing...and 5 years from now, we will still be talking about this ....

  • you need to educate yourself about the island. there is only a US trade embargo, but they can get whatever they want from other countries. The tourist stores and hotels are filled with food and goods, that their own people cant touch. There is no need for good relations with a dictator who doesnt allow any freedom to its people. Cuba is insignificant. Its Cuba that needs to change NOT THE USA. we dont need them.

  • Just out of curiosity, does you lack of compassion extend to everyone or just Cubans? Did you feel the same about New Orleans, that they should have been left to starve, or is this a view you hold only towards people of other countries? You are sorely misinformed if you believe that Cuba is in any position to bargain with the US or that the US is the Big Dog. Read a paper sometime. Every former POTUS was felt the same way you do. Results? wasted human life. So sad

  • the USA is not the big dog? WHAT FUCKING WORLD DO YOU LIVE IN ASSHOLE? cuba bargaining? they cant! with what? they are nothing but a future vacation spot for retired Americans but offer nothing else.

  • I know I'm speaking into the ether here but I said Cuba IS NOT in a position to bargain. If the US feels the need to strong arm this small island nation and disadvantaging the citizens it seems fair to question their standing. Big dog of what exactly? Not economy, education, progressive social justice, unless of course you measure might in terms of military prowess then yes. If they are insignificant then so is US policy towards them, so much for spreading democracy.

  • So is your argument: We should be the bully because we can? Go to church and read the bible and tell me what it says about this.

  • ha ha...you are so wrong! 50 years has gone, nothing changed...you whant 50 more years ...and still no change! You may hate castro, and you may avoide him.... you can isolate him ....as jesus was isolated ny....!"?

  • There is one thing that we as Americans truly ignore, the real status quo on Cuba's foreign policy. For this reason, there should be no more obstacles between U.S. and Cuba. Such policies must be changed for the better and for everyone to believe back in American foreign policies which have been in shadows thanks to the actual and last presidents of the U.S. There are no more enemies than the one WE have turned into. This must be changed and Obama is the right candidate to do this job.

  • Personal Diplomacy with a new Cuban Terror regime, could potentially be a large threat to national security. An inexperienced, hack like Obama, could potentially risk our national security by meeting with the new regime. Obama also claims that he wishes to meet with a known terrorist supporting dictator in Iran. Obama = No National Security

  • taznc25.. Totally ridiculous. Please stop the fear mongering. Those are the tactics of terror. Osama wants to terrorize us and anyone promoting fear is Osama's friend. Obama is correct, it is time to engage Cuba. We are big enough to reach out to the people of Cuba. Some see the writing on the wall and realize that Obama will succeed in promoting peace and easily become the greatest president this country has ever seen. This week Bush is already scrambling to soften his Cuba policy.

  • If that were true, Obama would not have lost the vote of the Cubans. Obama will lose. The liberals that would like to put him in office are too lazy to go out to the polls. They will realize on wednesday after election day that they got too drunk off of their malt liquor and too high on their crack on Tuesday and forgot to go vote.

  • He contradicted his previous statements he made in 2004 on the embargo. I agreed with his 2004 policy of lifting the embargo entirely, I have more trouble supporting him now. The embargo hasn't worked for over 40 years and he knows that, he is pandering to the Cuban ex patriots in Florida who due to our electoral system have a disproportionately large say in politics.

  • mceruto, I read your comments and I agree with your assessment. While your tone and language is harsh, I am glad that you were able to speak your mind and use the words that you had chosen. There are many good reasons to oppose Obama and to get a better US President to act and properly remedy the situation in Cuba. Obama does not speak truth, he says what is convenient for the moment. My family wanted liberty and democracy for China and he turned us down. Why is he then for this now in Cuba?

  • Realistically, China IS in a position where we can't afford to be on their bad side. I know it's unfair and goes against our beliefs in freedom and democracy. I say our best bet for china is to lead by example, though we all see how bad our current state is. :(

  • Second comment, see our family's postings in the Topix LLC forums under the pseudonym lchow.

  • Viva Cuba Viva Fidel Viva Barack Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mceruto im not sure you used racial epithets

about the white presidents that put this embargo. You should watch your language.

  • , my whole family lives in cuba and they have to suffer under the embargo for yet another 4 years because you want another 600,000 votes? fuck you negro

  • your not making any sense. Obama wants to end the embargo. Yes he may have softened his stance, but a large part of the electorate a stubborn ex cubans. I'm sure he still intends to follow through as president.

  • ok this is some bullshit, in the other video of him speaking at illinois university in 2004 he said that THE EMBARGO SHOULD BE REMOVED and now he's changing his story and saying that he would not remove the embargo as president, what the fuck? i think he's just kissing the ass of the powerful but irrational cuban-american community in south florida for their vote, fuck you obama

  • obama is sooooo right on the issue of Cuba, although Fl won't matter thi yr b/c florido is going to the republicans this year but so what. Dems don't need Fl to win.

  • If you think Cuba is cheap for Canadians, Mexicans and South-American you are wrong. Cuba is as expensive as going to Europe. Nothing to do with RACE either. I am not a comunist and when I visited Cuba, I was an agent of change, when you explains cubans how democracies really work. Probably, is what Obama refers. It should not keep the same status-quo,especially for the cuban people, who remain there. Watch video "CUBA BELLA TIERRA SIN LIBERTAD".Regards from Montevideo, Rep.Oriental del Uruguay.

  • Did you feel that you got value for your money? or you felt like in a tourist trap? .... I understand that Cubans living abroad have to pay significantly more than most... Other Cuban policy is that even tough they might be citizens of other countries, they have to purchase a Cuban Passport and purchase other documents before they are allowed to visit the island. That's kind of weird isn't it?

  • I guess some cuban exiles feel identified with Obama since both are mulattoes.

I don't think the next president will lift the blockade vs Cuba.

Cuba is better blockaded because , it is cheap for Canadian, Mexican, and South-American tourists.

  • he says he brings change... people say they want change... now this sounds cliche, but, be careful what u wish for.. he may bring change but is change what u want or more like a modification? and what change could that be?

i think the safer bet is mccain, but still he doesnt convince me, however im sure i dont want hillary!

  • That iiis an interesting concept and you are accurate. We might just get any change.... We better be more specific about what is it that we want that change to look like.

Also the more I look at it, Fidel calls it a blockade (which I think is an exaggeration), USA calls it an embargo (which dictionary definition wise both Eng. and Span. are similar). I think that what we are actually been doing in Cuba is a Boycott.

  • You are right, I think all terms are valid, each one describes a point of view or a way of looking at USA's relation with Cuba. But the important question is if this foreign policy with Cuba has been a good idea.. I do understand why USA did it and I don't blame them. I dont see why they, being a democratic country, should be dealing with a communist country. And unlike many people I oppose the idea that Cuba is poor because of USA's embargo/blockade/boycott...

  • Canadians are good friends with Cuba! Castro attended our most beloved Prime-Minister Trudeau's funeral!(close-friends)

Cuba has an excellent universal health-care system!(free). I hope one day Americans will be able to travel to this beautiful place. Obama realizes that not talking and snubbing each other won't accomplish anything. It's common sense to communicate together so differences can be resolved, we all know that!

  • Health care is free? wow, all those people who build hospital buildings and doctors offices supply the materials, land and labor do it for free? They must be really really really nice people. And your drug companies charge nothing for their products? Wow. Do they get big tax breaks then? And your doctors and nurses work for nothing? We got rid of that system back in the 1860s. It was called slavery. I didn't know it still existed in Canada. Amazing.

  • jajajaja no no no, I hear sarcasm in your writing. But actually, you are no that far from the truth.

  • I appreciate your comments and it is important to discuss Cuba with great respect. It is important to open new spaces to bring a new horizon to the lovely cubans whatever they are. Please watch the video "CUBA TIERRA BELLA SIN LIBERTAD".Its translate as CUBA BEATIFUL LAND WITHOUT FREEDOM...

  • An Obama administration won't lift the Cuban embargo eh? Funny, that's not what he said at So. Illinois University in 2004...

Search "Obama Cuban Embargo", it's the first hit.

4-more years of demagoguery and flip-floppery please!! Obama 2008 wooooooo!!!

  • .. these fuckin blind americans. If you didnt love yourself so much, nobody would love you at all. Americans are the most ignorant people in the whole wide world. No doubt about it. You-re outlook at freedom are as pale as your racist ass president. Greetings from Sweden.

  • Not as ignorant as Muslims, who think they can defeat us, there the joke of the century, they cant even defeat poverty and their own stupidity, what hope in hell have they got of beating a superpower.

  • ur an idiot. throughout history, Islam has been one of the most peaceful religions ever.

  • wow, your calling me an idiot, your the one who thinks religions peaceful. Well you can carry on fooling yourself, but saying Islam is peaceful is just like saying Hitler was a misunderstood man and was peaceful. Pull your head out of your ass.

  • I agree with you and Live in America...not by choice though...lol

  • From what he says, seems he will restore Clinton era Cuba policy.

  • Just wondering though is what are the differences between Hilary Clinton's and Barack Obama's stances on Cuba?

  • None. He at one point talked about ending the embargo, but will probably shy away from that. Unfortunately. But, there is at least a chance with both that Cubans will be able to travel back to Cuba and visit their families with more ease. No hope of that with McCain.

  • viva fidel! viva Chavez! viva ortega! viva Aristide! viva Arbenz! viva Allende! viva morales! Bush, Clinton and Obama are all the trying to impose corporate democracy on the poor. In Latin America we have struggled for a century to have real democracy from below!!

  • fucking idiot exiles...cuba is kickass how it is and it would be better if we could lift the trade embargo. obama sounds like every other neo-conservative now...vote kucinich

  • u cuban americans make ur country a shithole. not castro. Cuba has suffer the most from america. and castro is still standing. Cuba is the only country to survive from US imperialism!

  • FUCK CASTRO! FREEDOM FOR CUBA!

  • cuba is libre!! from the united states!! cmon do u really want the US to take over cuba and fuck it up like they did in IRAQ? do u really want that? imperialism! all u cuban americans should be happy to be in this country! thanx to castro all cubans get citizenships! how many other countries want that. mexicans? haitians? most of latin america

  • Cubans, unlike Iraqis are not crazy religion filled people. Thanks to Castro, 500,000 people have died. The only good dictator is a dead dictator.

  • religion has nothing to do with it. u guys all like republicans mell martinez and bullshit. but what has george bush done for cubans? what did he promise u guys? in 8 yrs he has not done anything for u guys and u still love him. ITs a revolution of course people are going to die.

  • Religion has everything to do with Islamonazism. Bush has not done enough for Cuba. As a neolibertarian I blieve it is every mans right to be free, so i'd invaded Cuba by now and Zimbabwe, Bruma and others ect.

  • thats the answer right? just invade and kill civilians like America has done so in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and soon perhaps in Iran

  • You cretin. Whose killing the civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan? The insurgency. In Iraq 4.8% of deaths have been caused by the coalition. Vietnam was a bloody war, im too young to know anything about that. Why not invade? Kill the problem early. Why let people suffer in the long run? So you would like to see the people in Zimbabwe suffer? Bruma suffer for the sake of 'world peace', you wannabe tyrant.
