The State Department report lumping Cuba with Iran, Syria and Sudan was released weeks after US President Barack Obama made overtures to Havana, which is under a decades-old embargo, by lifting curbs on travel and money transfers.

Such policies must be changed for the better and for everyone to believe back in American foreign policies which have been in shadows thanks to the actual and last presidents of the U.S. There are no more enemies than the one WE have turned into. Cuba's people suffer because of what Castro has done. Not because of what the USA has done. Many countries trade and do business with Cuba. So why does Cuba still suffer? Cuba is a communist state and communism fails every time it's been tried. I have been there...in my opinion, if you weigh US and Cuban abuses and benefits- its almost break even... the very problem with Cuba is that their own people cannot travel w/o permission. Honestly, its just the US who is against Cuba, Cuba imports alot of things from the U.S.. US is making money out of the embargo. While Cuban leaders are taking advantage of it.

Nixon went to China to negotiate with Mao, a monster responsible for more deaths and atrocities than Hitler. The Chinese people are much better off because of it, certainly in terms of standard of living and access to world media and influence [ and there is a long way to go of course. you need to educate yourself about the island. there is only a US trade embargo, but they can get whatever they want from other countries. The tourist stores and hotels are filled with food and goods, that their own people cant touch. There is no need for good relations with a dictator who doesnt allow any freedom to its people. Cuba is insignificant. Its Cuba that needs to change NOT THE USA. we dont need them.

If the US feels the need to strong arm this small island nation and disadvantaging the citizens it seems fair to question their standing. Big dog of what exactly? He contradicted his previous statements he made in 2004 on the embargo. I agreed with his 2004 policy of lifting the embargo entirely, I have more trouble supporting him now. The embargo hasn't worked for over 40 years and he knows that, he is pandering to the Cuban ex patriots in Florida who due to our electoral system have a disproportionately large say in politics.

Other Cuban policy is that even tough they might be citizens of other countries, they have to purchase a Cuban Passport and purchase other documents before they are allowed to visit the island. Also the more I look at it, Fidel calls it a blockade (which I think is an exaggeration), USA calls it an embargo (which dictionary definition wise both Eng. and Span. are similar). I think that what we are actually been doing in Cuba is a Boycott.

None. He at one point talked about ending the embargo, but will probably shy away from that. Unfortunately. But, there is at least a chance with both that Cubans will be able to travel back to Cuba and visit their families with more ease. No hope of that with McCain.
