Obama doesn't hide he'd like the single payer systems' more, He is just being pragmatic and for NOW, he going for universal healthcare with public option. You are not ready yet for the bigger change, do not play it like its a conspiracy, he is pretty open about his agenda. I consider health-care as a right protected right there into your declaration of independance, as one of the "inalienable rights" of man, LIFE , liberty and pursuit of happiness.. part of protecting your LIFE
Obama is currently trying to hide that he likes single payer. As for the fact that you have twisted the Declaration of Independence to be a health-care document in your little liberal skull full of mush does not mean that it is one. The right to life stipulates nothing in and of itself as to the quality of said life, and certainly does not speak to the ongoing maintenance of that life. This is clarified by "pursuit of happiness". It guarantees the right to pursue happiness, not happiness.
See for me I look at health care like this, it is for the good of the community to have healthy people. Not only that but doctors are kind of like modern day healers and shamans. Only instead of doing it for the good of the tribe they do it for profit. I know that today it is not possible to have free health care. I just think that society in general has the wrong outlook on what a doctor is and should be. But I am by no means trying to impose this view on anyone. This is just where we differ.
Objectivity is what is missing from BS partisan politics. I am the type of person that formulates a decision on my values, I can respect the town hallers based on the fact that we just have different values. I just wish when they yell out the questions that they would at least shut their mouths for the answer. Discourse is the way to true democracy.
Wow, that was some good journalism. Good job man. I just have to say though I am for Universal Health Care. I believe that Health Care should be considered a basic human right and covered in the constitution.
Technically opinions are irrelevant here because healthcare isn't an opinion-based issue. Healthcare isn't a right in the same way my keyboard isn't a maple tree no matter how bad I wish it were. In order for someone to have healthcare someone must provide it. People don't have the right to the forced service of others.
Healthcare is a need. Governments must protect rights, not needs. By protecting rights, the government creates a framework upon which people can fulfill each other's needs.
