When I watch this video, it brought back sweet memories of my childhood, and I cried. If only SAW would resign and let someone more competent do her job for $1.8 million. What has become of the Singapore I knew as a child?
When the government allows public transport (public goods) to be run by a private enterprise who's main purpose is PROFIT, then you can find that the emphasis is no longer on maintaining the gold standard in reliability, comfort and sufficient capacity for passengers to be comfortable in the carriage.
Instead, you will find that space will be tight, they will ensure that the maximum will be packed and squeezed into each carriage to maximize their profits per run.
Watching this video, I realised that last time people are more friendly than now... what do I mean? well, I mean that the people wont SQUEEZE so much into the train, unlike today, just for a seat... and at least let the people going out have some space to move...unlike today, again... and esp. what happened in the past few days, MRT Breakdown! like eXAKR said, "Now: Unsafe, Unreliable, Inefficient" I agree with him... and i'd like to thank him for posting the comments...
3:14: "To provide Singaporeans with a safe, reliable and user-friendly MRT system at competitive fares."
When Saw Phaik Hwa came in, that was changed to: "To provide Singaporeans with an unsafe, unreliable and user-unfriendly MRT system at exorbitant fares."
MRT train drivers have their uniforms colour currently in red ((: Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew would like this video ((:

@y2koh If you mean what is currently the RATIS, they have all been replaced. Flip-disc displays still exist on the C651s and some SMRT buses.
