OK. While I agree that this is horrible there ARE ways to prevent this. Dont let children go alone You can spare an adult or two to walk children to school or leave them at home and not take them inot the damn feilds. It was said multiple times that it was livestock and chldren. Know why? Becasue they are easy tagets. Small no teeth or nails to speak of and smaller than the leaopard. Leopards and climb a tree with food thier size. Dont make children targets keep an eye on them

This had nothing to destroying habitats or encroaching on territory. You either didn't watch this vid or weren't paying attention. It was stated (around 2:45 or so) that this happened due to leopards reproducing at a very high rate because:

1. Absence of other predators

2. Ideal habitat (sugarcane fields)

3. Ample food supply (pets, livestock and humans)

No habitats were destroyed. The problem was exact opposite (too much habitat). You should get the facts straight before posting.

This is not new. India's population grows every minute. They have to expand. Indians have been living with wild animals for a long time. How would you feel if your son was killed by a leopard? If it was my son, I would go hunting for leopards, but I'm not like that. Anyways, humans have right to defend themselves against animals. They have to come up with ways to defend themselves and not disturb natural habitat. This is not new, it is a very old problem.

In India, many groups of tribals have been long living in forests along with all kinds of animals.... Remember, India(like africa) is still the land of aboriginals not the land as in other parts inhabited by clearing out the forest lands.

However, in recent decades, as human and animal populations grew, and as industries started cutting off trees, the forest land available to these wild animals has reduced and an increasing man-animal conflict.. Many indian tribals have bears etc. as pets
