  • id luv to shove that camera up his ass and make a film about that- this guy is a rip off- art school you paid to learn this ??? houdini would shoot your ass-

  • This guy should go back to art school... and become a mime.

  • i think the point is to make us not have a clue what on earth he means.

  • I find this modern, futuristic, it is art because it purley relys on the times we are living in now.

  • Is art a bowl of wax fruits?

Or is art a bowl of rotting fruits?

    ART IS DEAD!

  • if art was dead you would not be speaking. language was the starting point for humans to make art. language is an art form.

  • No, art is a language form.

  • That is a silly opinion to have. I mean to deny that there is art left is to deny that there is beauty, ugliness, murder, birth, trash, cleanliness, etc. left.

  • hahahaha!

  • really, I had no idea...

  • i like art

  • "...have a kind of physicality in common, about the way that violence is... um....is sublimated into form.. somehow." what a fucking DOUCHEBAG hahahaha, listen to him say that line over and over again, you'll agree.

  • yes, well, conceptual art without any sort of underlying faith or desire to connect with human beings in a vital way is essentially meaningless bullshit. still, it's nice to look at, but so is my scrotum. barney doesn't accomplish what jodorowski did 35 years ago.

  • this work does have a desire to connect with people. Maybe its just too much--too big. Maybe you can't get beyond the scale and the ego necessary to create it.

  • All I'm laughing at is how he talks about.. as if HE doesn't even get it. Look at the pretentious and fake way he holds his chin while he attempts to talk about his art. And the addition of "somehow" at the very end of his description pretty much exposes the fact that he is totally talking out of his ass.

  • @chickenringNYC

Well, maybe art doesn't have to have an entirely cohesive explanation to be valid. Artwork is full of loose-ends, it's impossible for the artist to fully comprehend the scope of its effect. Plus language is so limiting- a reason why artists turn to other forms of expression in the first place.

  • Yeah I know. LOLWUT

  • sacred knowledge that was whispered among the elite is available to those who seek it, in the info age.

  • you don't have to understand everything

  • you dont have to understand everything...just take it in

  • there is nothing to understand. barney doesn't even know what he's talking about

  • art is not for everyone, if you want to understand chinese you need to study/learn chinese, wanna understand art?

  • art is for everyone.

  • i agree. i often find the people that need art the most are the ones who refuse to look at it, particularly because they believe all modern art is like this.

  • that video they are making is insane! i still dont understand it. someone help me out!

  • art is not for everyone, if you want to understand chinese you need to study/learn chinese, wanna understand art?

  • ive been in art school for 7 years now and this is the only thing ive ever come across that was crazy enough to confuse me. i undersatnd art, i just dont understand this one.

  • I don't care if I understand it or not, it's the cryptic side of certain art I find alluring

  • obscure content and it automatically seems deep. clarity is honest.

  • clarity is a word that art does not always try to achieve.

  • yeah, you are right. but what does that really get you in the end? we should learn something from it, otherwise it's like visual masturbation, and I'd rather watch a sunrise, personally.

  • yes you have a point but who says art is what you says it is? Art is about the eye of the beholder. Also known as an opinion! What was the point of VanGogh or Picasso. Nothing, it was all opinion. They also made a living at it. Are you jealous?

  • actually Van Gogh didn't see a dime xD

  • Van Gogh sold one painting in his lifetime, actually. And it was used to pay his rent. Now his work has been so demeaned to the point that it has become kitsch.

  • @rubenstein418 Well, consider the whole point. His work is purported to be full of masonic content... so why should it be clear? I mean, to the everyman? I feel like this stuff is aimed at a very specific kind of audience, and you and I are not in it.

  • art should transcend language, thats the beauty of it. it should be a universal form of communication that unites everyone under a common and fulfilling experience.one of the problems in today's world is that we lack (particularly in america) common culture and understanding. art has separated itself and egotistically began only caring about art itself and other artists. art should serve life, and artists should lend there hand down to the common public and invite them in to make a difference.
