Of course a PC is better but a console gives us a similar experience for about 1/4 of the price and you can still play the latest games after 5 years.
well anything that uses electricity can overheat its just a matter of how long you can use it till it does. ive owned a ps3 slim for about a year now and its never over heated. in fact i even had one of those older more expensive ps3's and that never overheated either. the only reason i got a slim was because after three years of use my ps3 broke in a way where it couldn't play games anymore but it could do everything else.
I have a ps3 and I can play it for hours. It only smells a lil hot, not anything to actualy worry about. In my opinion, xbox and ps3 have about the same heat.
@TbPGaming1 My biggest gripe is the loud UMD drive, but I like the games a lot. As far as PS3 and Xbox goes, I use my PC because I think you get by far the best gaming experience on PC.
@TbPGaming1 I own a 3000 and my brother does too and they both have pretty sub par build quality, not that it isn't a great system. I've used some friends PS3s and they all seem top notch in quality, Xbox 360 is disgraceful as far as quality goes. Whatever, I'm pretty picky about this stuff.
I have 40gb PS3 now it has 320gb hard drive I had my PS3 since 2008 only problem is my browser freezes now and again I don't think there is enough memory to run the browser, sometimes it tells me its out of memory I wonder if any of you guys have that problem as well. Dose the slim version have this problem as well please leave a reply. Thanks

@maingeshtar i have played Tekken 6 on all 3 system, (ps3, xbox360, psp). Tekken on PS3 respond very perfect on the button, 360 lag to respond alot. in graphic they both look alike, but using HDMI cables. PS3 looks way better than the 360. I also played Assassin Creed 2 on Both system, and the PS3 version look 100% better. Plus the xbox 360 slim still suffer from overheating. the new ps3 slim doesn't.

The new PS3 stops playing all of your discs once you have updated your system via the Internet. It tells you that you have 'disc error' and the game will quit...It does this over and over and over and over again. You can never play anything again.
I have an original PS3. I am happy with it too. It has not failed me. When you buy a Sony product you know it is going to last. Trust me I know. I have several Sony entertainment products.
The outside design is better in my opinion because of the matte finish. The internal has an even better cooling system too. I don't know why people say that. The only version superior is the 60gb launch ps3.

get the fat one, the slim is too fragile and scratches easily, and games dont read alot so its hard to play. fat one is also shiny, and although heavier, u can get 40g 80g or 160 g, slim is only 120g
graphics come from both the game and the system. They would not make another system unless they have enough technology to make the graphics better which will be hard to do at this point.
i just wish that it was wider and not more squareish but that dosnt really matter and i kinda like the old piano finish but oh well its still pretty sweet
What's bugging me is that this is a clear quality downgrade and people are embrassing it with open arms. Sony didn't even give us a choice to buy either system and I find that insulting coming from a company that pretends to be catering to high end users. It was the one reason why I was planning on buying it over xbox but now there is no reason to buy this garbage.
Let me put this in simple terms you can understand. They have taken what was once a mercedes and turned it into a honda. It may perform similar due to technology advancements but quality/materials have been downgraded. The system not only runs hotter and louder but it is not as fast. I'm not saying they shouldn't have done this for those who can't afford the expensive version but at least give us a choice between the two.

I have to disagree with you on noise and performance. There are many videos on youtube that confirm this. I have heard it in person and the slim is much louder due to the smaller higher rpm fan. You may be correct that it's more efficient but that doesn't mean the system runs cooler either. If they had taken the technology upgrades and stuck them in the original we could have seen a major performance increase instead of a size decrease. It's also a known fact that the slim loads slower.

@maingeshtar i have played Tekken 6 on all 3 system, (ps3, xbox360, psp). Tekken on PS3 respond very perfect on the button, 360 lag to respond alot. in graphic they both look alike, but using HDMI cables. PS3 looks way better than the 360. I also played Assassin Creed 2 on Both system, and the PS3 version look 100% better. Plus the xbox 360 slim still suffer from overheating. the new ps3 slim doesn't.

ps3 can play next gen gaming beacause of the revolutionary cryengine 3 from the company that brought you Crysis:) That means you can play Crysis on your ps3 with more graphic enhansement than cryengine 2 on PC, , I´m saying that game companies are going to use the cryengine 3 for developing games for ps3,,, Cryengine 3 will altso be used on xbox 360 :) So for game enthusiasts,, youre Ps3 will have a bright future when it comes to effects, physics and so on :)

Let me put this in simple terms you can understand. They have taken what was once a mercedes and turned it into a honda. It may perform similar due to technology advancements but quality/materials have been downgraded. The system not only runs hotter and louder but it is not as fast. I'm not saying they shouldn't have done this for those who can't afford the expensive version but at least give us a choice between the two.

no it doesnt man ... only the construction has been downscaled a bit ... it runs more effiecient infact .. its more silent , and theres some 30% power efficiency ... the specs are exactly the same ... my brother has the slim and i hav the fat one ..cause m an electrical engg major and the fat one permits linux os so i like playing with it ... but really the cell processor and the rest remains the same so u r not sacrficing on what u really bought the game system for : multimedia and gaming .. :)

I have to disagree with you on noise and performance. There are many videos on youtube that confirm this. I have heard it in person and the slim is much louder due to the smaller higher rpm fan. You may be correct that it's more efficient but that doesn't mean the system runs cooler either. If they had taken the technology upgrades and stuck them in the original we could have seen a major performance increase instead of a size decrease. It's also a known fact that the slim loads slower.
