Not sure what all the Harley hate is about. Anyone with half a brain knows that Harleys were not built to do this and if you compare them too this or try to do this, your an idiot. They appeal to a completely different rider and riding style. You do not take your Cadillac Escalade to Laguna Seca, you take your Ferrari.

yeah i have both, and my 1198s dyno's 22whp higher than my diavel carbon. but both are sick and the diavel is an insanely cool bike. this track run is insane...I want to take mine out, but too much of a pussy :-) seems hard to load the pegs up and such in the normal seating position...you must have to hunker forward a bit and get up on the front of the bike to get off of it as well as he is.

Outstanding video....That bike needs Termi's though ;-)

If you went an bought a Harley Sportster for $10k and spent the other $6k on mods you would have a bike that was only marginally competitive... This coming from a Sportster owner. My dream bike is the Diavel. It's bigger and heavier than an 1198 so it can't brake as late and cant lean as far so it can't get on the gas as early. It is competition for ANY other bike of it's type. VRod, VMax etc, just be happy they didn't call it the V-Diavel...

it hasn't got the power to out drag an 1198, its got a low center of gravity and is very long so it can apply more power to the ground off the line but the 1198 still has more hp. Its a detuned 1198 engine.

Try THAT with any other "power cruiser." :) It's probably still not the best choice for the track, but you've got to admit that the thing handles incredibly well for the kind of bike that it is.

@goonballer you might be right but I don't think so, no - there is a rear-facing camera shot of the Diavel just after the 1198 passes, which can only have come from that bike. I think the guy on the Diavel backed off a touch in order to let the 1198 past and take the film from in front.

Also, the camera bike kept up with the Diavel no problem during the shot you describe - but when the Diavel is really opened up on a straight - right at the end of the film, it leaves the camera bike for dead.
