  • that's the first time i ever heard anyone else besides me mention the MLK and Streets connection.

  • haha, you guys are funny removing my comment. Truth hurts I know. I own the album, and it's not all terrible, but it needs work, oh and definitely doesn't come close to Achtung baby, just my 2 cents again.

Publicity train, where's their next stop?

  • for some reason when they get into the car and im the driver all i see myself saying is "ello darling" and then take off...hmm... let me eat you out for three hours cuz ure so hot, minus the gaptooth one. lol but i was hoping their tits would fall out from the g forces...go ahead give this a thumbs down but i kno most of u are thinking same thing, you sick

  • U2 went into this album wanting to get back to their roots of rock and roll i remember them saying this on interview on 2fm....... they rock and always will

  • Wow. Watched the whole thing. Good job. Shot using what? I better check the sidebar.

  • Fez: Being Born is very very freaky at the beginning, the "Fez" part.

  • Listen to Billy Joel's "No Man's Land" from "River of Dreams" then listen to Vertigo. The melody is exactly the same.

    Not that U2 isn't great but...it's scary.

  • I don't hear it. They don't sound alike to me.

  • the melody in the chorus is identical.

    low supply and high demand

out here in no man's land

  • I'm going to have to try that one. I think Get On Your Boots reminds me of We Didn't Start The Fire.

  • in a way, it sorta sounds like "war machine" from ac/dc

  • it somewhat resembles it.

    except, vertigo has some español.

  • QUOTE!

  • dude wtf is wrong with u ive herd many U2 interviews about hteir albums and they love thier music and this whole shit about the "publicity train" is complete crap......... getta life and keep your opinion to yourself

  • great

  • Bono said there will be another an album or rather EP by the end of the yr (kinda like Coldplay did last year) so maybe we will see more of the Rubin session then...

  • hu is rubin ???

  • Rick Rubin, the producer (worked with Metallica and loads of others) they worked with at first....but then went to Eno and co. They got a fair few songs down from this, so maybe we will see them.

  • As a teenager in the 80's I had a friend who was a big U2 fan, but I was never interested in U2 until my friend gave me The Unforgettable Fire and told me I had to listen to it. I remember it so well. I listened to it once and I was rather critical, I thought it was too busy, too overwrought, too many layers... and yet I was compelled to listen again, and again, and again, and again... By the end of the week when I ran into my friend and he asked me what I thought all I could say was, "GENIUS!".

  • "White as Snow" does use the "Come o' come Emmanuel" melody in it on purpose. This is credited on the album linear notes.

  • Yeah, I read that online and it made me feel better that they credited it partly to "Traditional". And since it's an old public domain song, no royalties to pay!

  • they played mlk and streets together at the superbowl a few years ago, so your right

  • It'll be cool to see they ways the integrate the old material with the new in concert; they always do a good job of that. Thanks for checking this out!

  • Possibly their best album...or at least right up there with Achtung Baby and the Unforgettable Fire. Excellent reviews! Thanks.

  • I totally agree - thanks a lot for watching!

  • U2 rocks!

  • Pretty impressive for them to still be making music of this quality this far into their career. Better than the Rolling Stones managed! :)

  • Adam is one of the greatest bassist he plays simple stuff but wot he plays he is the best

  • I don't think he's a bad bass player - he has his moments but I'm a big fan of bass so I want to hear more of it than he usually lays down. But I agree he has had some great moments - New Year's Day being one of them for example.

  • 10) Breathe - My first listen I barely remember it either and it seemed like a filler. It needs a few more listens.

    11) Cedars of Lebanon - This one has the least plays on MySpace. Mike is right, there is no ending. LOVE the lyrics, but not the tune.

I told you before, Gary, I love this co-host format! It doesn't matter what the subject or the length is, I LOVE it. I hope to see many more. Thanks Gary and Mike! Took me two and a half hours to watch and listen, but it was well worth it!

  • Wow Jenn! That's the best comment I could ask for!

Breathe didn't stand out for me at first either...now I love it. These albums need to be lived with.

Funny, btw, that somebody named "BlizzardSkies" doesn't like something that sounds too "Christmassy." LOL

  • Then you'd also find it funny that I rarely ever get along with anyone named Jennifer. Reow! Hiss!

  • Actually, I expect that of fellow kitties. They never seemed that friendly too me. All they do is hiss!!

  • Jenn - thanks so much for going through it all! I'm glad you enjoyed the review as well as the album itself. Hopefully we can do more joint reviews like this.

See you in a few weeks! - m

  • 6) Get On Your Boots - Nice and loud, I LOVE!

    7) Stand Up Comedy - Couldn't wait for you guys to finish reviewing this one, had to listen right away. THIS is great U2 to me. Rockin! My new fave!!!

    8) FEZ - Being Born - from the opening I wanted to pass on this one, but after your review I listened and I am glad I did. I could listen to this one all day. It's loud and calm at the same time.

    9) White As Snow - I wanted to like this one, but it was too Christmasy. ;)

  • Hehehe - yep, I'm there with you on all counts, Jenn.

  • Well, that hour flew by.

Really enjoyed this Mike. This is a great idea. I hope you do some more.

I've enjoyed being able to listen to the album pre-release. That's a great idea & i can see other bands following that example. Well done to U2 for doing that. It shows great vision.

BTW. I saw U2 do "Breathe" live on TV last night & it sounded great. Possibly better than the album version. A real live fave of the future :)

  • Thanks Andy! I may do something like this for the new Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode albums when they are released. I watched that BBC rooftop performance and loved "Magnificent", and enjoyed "Breathe" from French TV. It will be great to see them perform the new songs in the stadium-sized spectacle they'll be touring with.

  • It looks like this album review idea might well catch on.

I'd be interested to see those PSB & D Mode reviews.

Did i tell you that Neil Tennant used to live a few miles away from here? The first time i saw him around i thought he was Adam Clayton. It was only when i saw him again that i realised who he actually was! :)

  • i love the way gary says "achtung, baby!" :D

  • That is just how cool I am..

  • FIRST! OMG!! What do I win?!?!?!
