  • うわー!ピーター・フランプトンとクリス・スペディングだー!

    何じゃこの映像は??? すげー・・・

  • Fender guitars rules the music.

  • Thanks for this post. Great song, great version and wonderful to see Chris Spedding.

  • I learned this on my brothers old monkey ward electric guitar. Oh the memories!

  • Being 71, I have loved the Ventures forever. I play "pipeline" on the steel guitar (open A low bass 6 string) with band in a box backup at 3/4 speed, lots of sliding

  • Danced many hours to this song and when some one says dance here my mine go.

  • Wow...when was this recorded?Does anyone know?

  • lets hope bands like this never die or that would be the end of real muisic

  • Some bands be forgotten and "SOME BANDS NEVER DIES !!!"

  • WOW~when I was start play guitar is learn this song^^

  • these legends defy death long after they're all gone.

  • GREATEST Instrumental Band ever! I am 61 and grew up listening to these guys. still sound good..

  • @HonchoPoncho455 Lucky you dude.....

  • This is awesome.

  • Not a Prince fan, but he could leave these guys in the dust.

  • @revolutionpm it's because of the dust of this group and others like them that Prince even exists at all..

  • @revolutionpm not a prince fan just an asshole i guess.

  • wowwwwwww..

  • Great tune, great group!

  • wow I grew up listening to this.. I remember how much I loved it ..parents had all their records..

  • what year was this?

  • @WalterROX636 This is recorded in 1984 for documentary TV program of Ventures.

  • 7 regeton people play this video

  • @Lloydhl that is certainly MEL TAYLOR, not his son Leon. Leon would later join the band. See "surf rider" when Don Wilson introduces the song. That video has Mel's son, Leon, in it.

  • Does anyone know what show this was? I'd like to watch the whole thing

  • AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • Used to love skating to this music

  • this shit kicks ass,,,that guitar is amazing,,,you are wrong if you think otherwise...this is not about opinion.....this is like a .45acp,,,,this has power man

  • Nokie Edwards one of the greatest ever

  • 기타소리 넘좋네

  • The Ventures has been some of the first music I ever learned on guitar and now I play it in large crowds of people, and they love it!

  • thanks so much for posting....what a piece of musical history...it doesn't get any better than this

  • "You just know that guy with the flying v has done time in county": Well, all axe murderers need their axe, no? Actually, that is Chris Spedding, famous rock n roll, jazz and session guy (at least in the UK). Seeing Peter Frampton here may seem odd, but just like thousands of guitarists around the world, he and Chris grew up digging and were inspired by the Ventures and are both no doubt ecstatic to actually be there performing with their heroes.

  • @philipatoz Yep! It's amazing how many great guitar players list The Ventures as big influences on their playing. Many of them learned to play guitar with the Play Guitar With The Ventures albums.

  • Great new version of Pipeline by Surf Project on CD Baby.com and itunes

and a video somewhere on youtube

  • excellent work

  • The guitar player on the far right in the pink shirt is Peter Framton

  • @wineglass2 I thought so! :D

  • garsh! for some strange reason i have this desire to go surfing or watch repoman. not sur which. ach, i'll just go rob a liquor store, or, get sushi and not pay.

  • The bass player and the guitarist to the right of him, the one that looks like a misplaced biker in his white pants, those are the cool ones xD The far right guitarist in a pink shirt is just so... weird (especially at the 1:01 zoom in), and the guy in brown with the V guitar kinda looks like a cousin to Fonzie... but damn the music is epic xD

(let's not even mention the guy with the hat that looks like he's about to jump into his grave)

  • one of my fav instrumentals of all time

  • The guy with the big stupid hat looks dead...sorta "Weekend at Bernie'sish....

  • i think that's peter frampton on the red strat

  • You don't have to ride the tube to appreciate this music, but dammit I wished I could hear this when I do.

  • Jesus the Christ also did time in County.

  • @binksgrampa ...Quick afterthought...how bad did you want a Mosrite back in the day? (I'd sit in school and draw pictures of 'em!)

  • @MHFROX Hah i GAS'ed for a Strat or Tele cuz i'd sit in English or History classes and draw pics of Tele's and Strats. the music teacher bought me a fender jazzmaster since i like surf! now when i have music ill be able to play my Jazzmaster and do some tremolo man! and he also bought me a strat for rock.

  • @1FenderGuy lol Schweeet! I thought MY Jr. High music teacher (Orchestra) was cool because I got to keep a stand-up bass at home for practice...(after she heard about how difficult it was to get it on & off of the bus when I'd take it home on weekends. lol) Actually, she's still cool...we stay in touch on fb and she's been out to a couple gigs. She's crowding 70 now, but still young at heart!

  • @MHFROX my gf and i are 13 so it makes us made for each other

  • @1FenderGuy Ohhhh...You know what? Those replies were intended for binksgrampa who I originally started this chat with...my oversight & confusion.....but, glad you're playing! It'll last a lifetime if you let it. Sorry bout the mix up & keep on pickin'! (Boy do I feel dumb. lol)

  • ...and here I was thinking I was digging up old stories with another old fart. lol

  • @MHFROX lol my music teacher thinks i could be a rockabilly guy with a Gretsch and a bassman with reverb lol

  • @1FenderGuy If that's what you wanna do, I'm sure you could be too! Aint nuthin but practice involved. lol

  • @MHFROX yeah my guitar teacher let me have his 1989 fender strat with a floyd rose for a week and i used the floyd alot never had to retune! gotoh Floyds are the best

  • @1FenderGuy I never used a whammy much...I've had a couple gits that had it (2 Bigsby's), but other than surf, it never really fit my style.

  • @MHFROX Bigsby could be my way and btw this is 1FenderGuy on the laptop lol my 1963 Fender Jaguar is awesome as.....!

  • @PeteAndJakee My first guitar teacher (for six weeks) had a Jaguar. I still love the look, hence the Jazzmaster, which I'm likely going to loan, on an undetermined time limit, to one o my kids. lol Kids? 28 & 25.

  • @MHFROX yeah i am on facebook now. Nathan Brown is my name if u see a pic of a red HSS Squier strat thats me and i fitted my Jazzmaster tremolo arm on my SX strat copy too

  • @1FenderGuy Cool, I'll check it out.

  • @MHFROX Lol u should see the SX strat copy since its a '65 vintage. as the serial says.... i fitted a big as hell jazzmaster tremolo arm i use it the kids are like "wow that tremolo arm is BIG"

  • @MHFROX xD. Now i wish i had'nt had sold the jazzmaster tremolo arm i really liked it! Oh well i could always get another one.

  • @1FenderGuy Refigured my arithmetic...she's gotta be older than that, but wouldn't know it to see her. wow.

  • @1FenderGuy Aw man, you (or I) have started something now...same teacher, took a rep from each section to the PBS TV studio for a music documentary kind of thing. (67 - 68) I was the bassist and for my segment...God's honest truth, I played Pipeline. Started with the B -E, B -G drone 'doo doo doo doo' then the melody. lol True story.

  • @MHFROX Yeah i never played a jazzmaster before though so i picked it up and played it. its a versatile guitar with P90-ish single coils

  • VERB!!!!

  • it's the baldies!!

  • @bubba30017 What did you say about my mother.

  • Spedding and Frampton are in this vid. From the 30th anniversary super sessions DVD.

  • thats Cris Spedding , played with the WHO Stones

  • Nobody does it better!

  • A masterpiece.

  • Who are the 2 New guys???

  • is that peter frampton!? (with the red strat)

  • @toodead919 He looks like Peter Frampton!

  • Thumbs up if your saw the lying v

  • Drummer is Beatboxing!

  • Is that "Prince Valiant" on drums!?

  • @stanich054 I think he is a very young Max Weinberg.

  • @stanich054 MY mistake. He is not Weinberg. Weinberg is the other drummer on their wipeout tune.

  • You just know that guy with the flying v has done time in county.

  • wow 1000 likes 7 dislikes good to know the majority of people has good taste in music

  • Fender Jazzmaster is a good surf guitar but strat is king

  • Chris Spedding ! & Peter Frampton !

  • the guy from The Paladins on the V ?

  • Best group around, I.m glad you made the rock and roll hall of fame you deserve it'

  • Good stuff. The opening has that cool "Paint It Black" flavor.

  • I WISH I WAS THERE LIVE AT THAT TIME.

  • que mas se puede pedir.

  • @thebosstreet that's exactly what your mom said last night

  • Found a huge movie theater speaker about 24 inches across, glued the rips in the cone and mounted it to my beds maitress rails facing up......hooked it up to my handmade stereo and turned on the Ventures Pipeline and invented the shaking musical bed. Holly Mosrite what a sound.

  • stumbled upon this & can see myself dancing all by myself in my Grandmother's living room to Pipeline, Apache, & Telstar -- wow, great memories -- thanks

  • Makes me wish I once was a surfer dude-then I think of the Great White and Tiger sharks and say, "Oh well, too bad!"

  • Love these guys. Covered many if their songs in various bands.

  • what is the drummer doing at the microphone?? I can't figure out what sound he's putting out of his mouth...anyone know?? It's making me nuts...thanks.

  • The drummer always reminded me of the guy from No Country for Old Men.

  • Incredible! A consortium of guitar gods cracking "Liberty's Whip!"

  • bill clinton on bass

  • A Strat, bit of heavy spring reverb, Blackface Twin cranked to "11" - man, it doesn't get much better than this for some "feel-good" music from my youth. You can almost see the wave arc, feel the mist and spray, hitting the pipeline. Can you say Dick Dale?!!! Love 'em, miss 'em!

  • Not sure but is it a young Peter Framptom on strat and Chris Spedding (Bryan Ferry) on Flying V ?

  • @linznorris Definitely Chris Spedding, and sure does look like Frampton.

  • @hoosierdaddy99 cheers, I only remember seeing Chris Spedding playing a one note solo behind Bryan Ferry 's Stick Together, but he had some great songs on vinly ( Get Out My Pagoda )

  • OR vinyl!!!!!!

  • What a constalation of guitar stars! This video is a collectible.

  • Thank you so much for putting this up. This takes me back to Saturdays with my Dad in front of our console stereo. He turned me on to some really great music. Taught me to be open minded and appreciate music. Some of the very very best memories I have as a child. Thank you again!!!

  • Doesn't anybody care about Nookie Edwards anymore?

  • @KrumyKrum yup

  • 懐かしきよき時代、相変わらずかっこいいです。

  • It's David Soul on bass!!

  • This reminds me Quentin Tarantino XD

  • I bought two Flying Vs, (in '72 and '76) two Jazzmasters (1968) and I now have two Strats!

My MIM Strat has a ping Floyd Rose and I added an ACME TONE SHAPER.

After a few other mods it is the best sounding axe of all.

  • Derryn Hinch on the stool!

  • Great song.

  • Frampton coming ALIVE on the RED STRAT!

    weeeeeeeeeeeeee ;0)

  • this video is missing first few seconds of this music.

  • THE DRUMMER IS HOWARD WALAWITZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • These were the guys responsible for my start in playing guitar! Started at 13 and still playing at 60!!

  • @binksgrampa I heard that! Started at 13 also. Still playing and I'm almost 65! The Ventures were probably responsible for ruining more career paths than just about anyone out there. I hope they NEVER quit!

  • @binksgrampa thats weird because this was the first song i ever tried to play i was 9 and my uncle showed me the opening riff........i still play.....

  • @lumpfish99 Good to hear from you. The Ventures have always been one of the greats!! Walk Don't Run was the first one I played and have never stopped since. My buddies and I played together for a long time and now we are working on our 2nd cd. Go to Jango.com and type in 3 Card Stud and check out our tunes. WE WILL NEVER STOP PLAYING...keeps us young!!lol...ROCK ON BRO' and never quit.

  • @binksgrampa will do....stay safe and take care.....

  • @binksgrampa I started at 11 and still playing at 13 lol

  • @binksgrampa Right there with ya ol timer. lol Cut my teeth on this stuff in '64 at about the same age with a Western Auto Truetone (F-hole Archtop)...still at it...recently picked up an old Jazzmaster, and more recently, a new Les. Rock on Daddio!

  • I love this song. My son can play it. But then he can play Stevie Ray Vaughn and Hendrix too. Oddly he can't read music. He does it all by ear. His hands do the rest.

  • Damn. I forgot how great these guys are!

  • I believe that is Rick Deringer on the V

  • Ventures are badass i was 18 when i was turned on to them im 22 now

  • This was not a Venture's song,,, Chantays I think made it a big hit,,, the added two players may be from the Chantays..

  • Didn't know Richard Petty played with the Ventures...

  • I raised my daughter on this stuff! Surf's up baby!!!!!

  • So....Many...Guitars...Can't...Stop....WATCHING.

40 years later it still sounds awesome. Thanks for sharing DayFever.

  • I had as much fun reading all the comments as I did listening to my old surfer music! Thanks for sharing.

  • i actually caught this song on am radio on more than one occasion many years ago.. awesome.. i love it when bands don't have singers..

  • WOW! I WONDER HOW THEY GOT JOE NAMATH TO PLAY DRUMS. HE'S O.K. I GUESS BUT I KIND OF LIKED THAT OTHER GUY (WHATS HIS FACE ) BETTER.
