  • BTW what's the music in the beginning of this video?

  • @jamesb1221222 Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones

  • STOP SHAKING

  • @buckethead177058 It's reliced :)

  • See my killswith, im using im my movie, looking for Soothsayer Suncord

  • Omg, Why are people giving this guy so much shit? He's kind enough to be a productive member of society by making a Tutorial Video on how to install a Kill-switch. If you're not interested, fuck off, and be polite. Damn, he's just trying to help the uninformed out and you guys bash him with judgemental comments. Please, do us a favor and GTFO!

  • u have weird shaped nostrils

  • this video needs more hand shaking, you should be a surgeon you'd be accurate as hell.

  • is that switch an N.O. (normally open) or N.C. (normally closed switch)?

  • @caulinrocker1 That would be a N.C. switch. The circuit is normally closed (completing the circuit) and you "push to break", so when you push the button, the circuit breaks thus stopping the sound as long as you hold the button.

  • we searched it for a car not a guitar y the fuck would u put 1 on ur guitar

  • DUDE I DONT HAVE THAT HOLE IN MY GUITAR? SHOULD I DO IT WITH A KNIFE OR Wt?

  • @buckethead177058 truckster is a piece of shit haha okkkkkkk

  • Gay song.

  • suk a cock bitch y would u put a gay as muthafukka kill switch on a cheap as guitar like that u nazi bitch lmao lmao viva china puto and death to american :) me voy a cojer a tu reputa madre perrooooo embesil wey cabron chupa peepee

  • you could just turn one volume down to 0 and one to 10 thats how tom morello does it

  • I wonder how all these kill switches help when you have the video up on Youtube that also allows potential jackers to watch how to disarm them too?

  • Gimme Shelter! ;P

  • @buckethead177058 its supposed to look kinda fucked up.. its just the paint though

  • I'M HERE ACCIDNETALLY...I WAZ LOOK FRO KILL SWITCHES IN CARZ...BUT UHM...

I NOTICED THE COMMENT ABOUT HIM SHAKING SO MUCH...SO I STAYED TO WATCH THE VIDEO...AND HIS SHAKING GETZ EPIC AT ABOUT...2:35

    I WAZ LOL'IN

HE GETTIN NERVOUS MAKING A VIDEO...WITH NO AUDIENCE...O.o

  • @buckethead177058 lol I hate those cheap ass piece of shit guitars my grandpa is always bragging about his piece of shit cheap ass 1969 martin and I was like grandpa suck me dick that this is cheap

  • @buckethead177058 do you not know what a James Hetfield signature guitar looks like? its supposed to look like it has wear on the guitar

  • omg james hetfield ESP are u rich i love your guitar!!!! (i think i have spelt it wrong)

  • So, just to make sure, you don't do anything to the ground wire, it stays in the same place, and all you do with the hot wire is run one from where your original hot wire came from to the switch, then a wire to the output jack?

  • your a bitch

  • @buckethead177058 Actually...its an esp ltd truckster..just shy under $1,000.00

  • @a1ex1990 yeah that is one bad guitar bro!! the body looks so much like a les paul from the back though..

  • @xX10RageMan10Xx uhhhhhh maybe because its the esp equivalent of a les paul?? HERP DERP

  • @a1ex1990 Badass Guitar. It's one of James's, Isn't it?

  • I'm more confused now!

  • What he fails to mention is the type of button you need to use. You need a normally closed and push to open momentary button. Which translates, your sound is on normally, then when you push the button it breaks the circuit so no sound comes out. You can by one of these at your local Radio Shack. The way he is installing it crosses the positive to negative which can be damaging to some equipment. By using a normally closed button you break the signal instead of Killing the signal.

  • Please reply by email to x_rlf2@yahoo.com.hk

So I have soldered one end of my wires to the hot and the ground, but how do

I make the wire 'go through' the guitar to the spot where I want the switch on?

Sorry for my poor english, nice vid btw

  • omg when you want a kill switch just buy a switch and wire it to somewhere where all power goes through...

  • Lol I thought this was a killswitch guide for cars

  • I don't get it.

  • you have a serious problem with your hands =/

  • lol i was looking for how to install a killswitch in a car. :(

  • @wakeinthecity9 turn the key, dumbass.. that's the killswitch in a car.

  • @Opisthotonos

    no u.

  • Crack Baby

  • r u on crack ur hands r shakin 100 mph

  • hands shake too much nervous

  • on a les paul can i just hook it up through a tone nob rather then drilling?

  • looks like an esp truckster guitar?

  • solder or sodder ????

  • @Deathatheart its spelled solder but said sodder

  • si se quita el parkinson va a ser mas facil !!!

  • 99%?

  • there's no need to even touch the input/output jack to add a killswitch, just attach a wire from the middle lug on ur volume pot right to one of the prongs of the switch and then another wire from the second prong of the switch to the volume case ( which is connected to the ground wire ) and that's it.

When the switch is closed (circuit closed) the signal coming from the pickups and passing through the volume pot goes directly to ground, thus, giving no output to the amplifier

  • anyone know how many times u he kept saying wire?

  • @munkeefork69 its probably because wires have alot to do with what were doing...

  • lol u wer talking about these 2 wires and going no wer with it for a wile tho dude just saying u have a tendency to drone on this vid

  • @munkeefork69 fuckin peace oh shit go suck on a chode you mutha fucka!!

  • @buzzkiller98 ummm no thanks?

  • @munkeefork69 the whole idea of kill switch came out of connect and disconnect a wire with a rhythm okay

  • dude why are you so shaky calm down

  • lol i was about to ask the same.

  • @aadame90 If i would install a killswitch on a Hetfield Truckster i would shake too XD

  • @aadame90 he is so shaky because he actually destroys his beautiful guitar

  • I'm dirt poor. Is there anything I can use from around the house for the switch?

  • dude get a killswitch from radioshack... they are no more than 3 bucks.... wires are like 2 bucks.... and instead of soldering, just connect the wires with electrical tape

  • @TertiusOculusOris 10-15 dollars at any loocal hardware store not to bad.

  • i'm sorry but i thnk i'm the 1% of the world that didnt get it

  • same here

  • yea! here, here, it doen't matter, WHAT!

    its more like 0.001%

  • dude your so nervous that you confused yourself.

  • what if you dont have a neeck pick up? ....

  • why mess around like this? turn the volume of your neck pup down , then use the pup selector switch. No brainer.

  • prob with that is its much slower then then killswitch since killswitch is actually a button nd u can break ur pickup switch if u go as fast as you can

  • like 2% of the world got this

  • dude you trying to fuck up a j.h. truckster?

if could own such a guitar i wouldn't mess with it.

and why oh why, what's the use of a killswitch?!

  • soLder, soLder, theres an "L" in there, cheers for the info though I am going to install a switch myself now.........

  • dude ur really shaky

  • E.S.P truckster ehh... fan of metallica?? i went to a metallica concert 2 weeks ago!!

  • I. L.I.K.E. U.R. G.U.I.T.A.R.

  • i know you can buy a button-like killswitch like buckethead uses from radioshack but where can you buy an actual toggle switch killswitch that moves back and forth like tom morello uses?

  • His is just a toggle switch built into his guitar. it switches between his two pickups, one of his pickups are turned totally down and the other is up.

  • Buttons are better, they're momentary, versus the toggles, which you have to return to 'off' to regain sound after a kill.

Tom Morello uses his pickup selector.

He sets one of his pickups to 0, to kill the sound.

You could also get a flip switch at radioshack and install that in your guitar.

  • radio shack. great selection.

  • thanks guys. installed a button from rs works wonderfully!

  • radioshack

  • I have that, it sucks badly.

    Button is way better.

  • Its pronounced sole-der

    get it right

  • sol⋅der /ˈsɒdər/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [sod-er]

wrong. stupid fucking kike nigger. id fucking shoot myself if i didnt know how to properly pronounce 'solder'. go fuck your mother.

  • when you can speak english properly then you can tell me how it is pronounced

  • kill swith it really flips your guitars switch ;)

  • if its such a stupid idea why would you search for it?

  • @a1ex1990 probably because it was a related video to a video which has to do with killswitches in a car, and it has no indication in the title lol

  • Buckethead.

Tom Morello uses a Toggle Switch, but it's essentially the same thing.

And quite a few more guitarists.

  • Tom Morello has had a killswitch before.

  • buckethaed MEE every1

  • @W516C i do now fuck off

Q:who the fuck puts the stupidest comment ever on utube?

    A:its u retard

  • @W516C - Tom Morello, Slash, etc. etc.

  • @W516C Your mumma does.

  • @W516C buckethead

  • @W516C anyone who wants a killswitch ... its not a normally off switch ... it is a momentary switch that jumps back to its up position immediately after releasing (which in this case is on) ... pressing the button turns the sound off and releasing it turn the sound back on so it is indeed very useful ... i wouldnt remove the pickup selector for it but its a pretty nice option to have

  • if you have a strat style pickup selector and only use the Bridge or middle pickup, all u have to do is remove the neck or whichever pickup wires from the selector say the neck pickup. then move the selector to neck position and it wont d anything, a killswitch.

  • Ok, I got a 6 prong switch that looks like a guitar pickup selector instead of a button, can I still get it to work?

  • helpful video. i must do this

  • sorry im included on the 1% cuz i didnt understand really.. could anyone explain:

I have 2 wires thats coming from the outputhole leading directly to something else. am i supposed to cut these off and connect them equally to the switch? it wouldnt work, since then the pickups wont lead to the output and i wont get any sound. WHATS WRONG WITH ME?!

  • you dont use existing wires..instead cut out new wire that you can buy at walmart..

  • so lemme get this straight.. i have 2 wires connected to my button which im gonna drag and attact to hotn'ground wires on the output?

  • Awesome vid dude. You got a bit of the shakes huh?

  • yeh..i just figured out it was from pop too..like because i gave it up for lent and it stopped haha :P

  • lent is for catholics. ha!

  • is it easy to get wrong, and if you do can you fix it or is that your guitar fucked?

  • yeah it is possible to get the wiring wrong..but if you have any problems you can just take out the wires you are trying to put in...and there is a possibility for maybe shorting out your wires..but thats highly unlikely because if you dont have it plugged in there is no electricity to short out the wires..

  • so do you keep the hot and ground wires connected to the out put?

  • yes..all the existing wires stay on the hot and ground prongs..along with your new killswitch wires

  • thank you so much. by the way great video man.

  • thanx :)

  • so if i wanted to put a kill switch on my les paul, all i would have to do is remove one of the tone pots put the kill switch in its place, and sodder the 2wires to the hot and ground?

  • yup!

  • thanks lol im not good with this kind of stuff like soddering or hots and grounds but i think i got it now =]

  • on a les paul, all you have to do is turn one of the volume knobs down and flick the toggle switch back and forth

  • id love to see you try playing jordan with a toggle switch

  • do you need active pickups for a kill switch? i cant get my warlock killswitch to work

  • can you tell me how to do it on a ESP LTD M-53(modded to an exact replica of Kirk Hammett of Metallica). \m/

  • thats the pickup selector dumbass!!!

  • the toggle...yes i know..

  • yes its important for many things.... dont go replacing it with a switch that doesnt do anyhting but make the guiatr stop

  • umm i didnt...the toggle that i replaced the killswitch with wasnt the pickup selector...it wasnt connected to anything...the pickup selector is the toggle switch on the bottom of my guitar..next to all of the volume and tone knobs

  • holy shit is that belt rash on you guitar??

  • haha dude, the guitar comes like like, pre -worn

  • wow ive never seen anyones hands shake so fast, your like extremely nervous

  • whats a killswitch and whats its purpose i just wondered why go through all that trouble for installing it. what does it do like??

  • it kills the sound of the guitar, listen to buckethead's Jordan for a good example

  • google it

  • nice video

but why were you shaking so much?

  • dude you look pritty shaky....calm down

  • dude nice vid, but why is ur guitar scratched??i mean literally there are alot of scratches on the body.......or are those stickers?

  • that is part of the design..they arent stickers they are like cuts in the body..its supposed to look cool haha

  • Oh ok lol it DOES look kool:P

  • the guitar is relicked like that, its the way their made, they supposed to look worn and used and all scratched up.

  • why did esp put that inactive switch in there? I've always wondered

  • yeah its a good question...my guess would be for the looks..

  • this is the james hetfield truckster one of his fave guitars. he bought a normal les paul, but the only thing he didn't liked was the switch he needed it near the pots. and the inactive switch was just a cover for the hole

  • because james hetfield has one on his and they stayed true to the looks and made exact replica as the one he used but just made it the switch inactive

  • Great video, man! I installed a killswitch in one of my guitars a while ago, they are fun to install and use. Also, you don't have to attach the wires to the output jack, you can attach them to the volume pot as well, which is what I did.

  • this was a good vid, sry i gotta do this though, 2:23-2:28 thats what she said!

  • sorry, im new to this stuff but how can you tell which one is hot and which one is ground?

  • well honestly i dont know..but for this type of installation it doesnt matter..just solder a wire to each prong

  • Since when did the word "solder" have a silent "l"?

Oh yeah, that's right, since the Americans started butchering the English language.

  • better watch out...we kicked your asses 270 years ago..we can do it again:P

  • hey men, does it caused hum or tone loss to your guitar??:D

  • i didnt think so when i did it..i dont think it can really..

  • depending on your pickups, the long wire run to the hot lug on the output can act as an antenna and introduce all sorts of noises into your amp. you're better off trying to make the wire from the killswitch as short as possible or use shielded wire, & it's better to run the hot wire to the volume pot's center lug and the ground wire to a common ground point in the control cavity. this will minimise noise if any.

  • were you nervous, your hands were shaking like mad

  • Wow this did help me actually.

  • yes im aware that my hands shake..im really sorry but i always do.

  • Can your hands shake anymore?

  • note: when you're hooking it up MAKE SURE YOU HOOK IT UP TO THE OUTPUT SIGNAL, NOT THE VOLUME POT. I have a guitar with a couple of high-voltage HBs and only 1 volume pot and when I used it, it made A LOT of annoying static. Make sure you wire it up to the output signal so you don't get the same prob I did.

  • james hetfeild sig. metallica fan eh.

  • I wanna do it, but I DONT wanna fuck up my guitar yo.

"solder" is a really dangerous word. lol

  • bring it to samash

  • Me too, whhere the fuck do i find these wires?

  • Radioshack, Home Depot, pretty much any place that sells wires for electrical projects, just make sure they aren't extremely thick, they need to be thin, around the same size as the stock wires in the guitar, you can also pick up a killswitch at Radioshack for 4 or 5 bucks.

  • I suppose I fall into that 1%

  • lmao

  • seriously man...

all you've done is explain how to fuck up your guitar...

If you want a kill switch, then just make your own volume cut pedal. (instead of fucking up your guitar)

  • or just turn off one pickup and use the toggle switch

  • yea but that fucks up the toggle switch and shorts out the pickups

  • you can break the toggle switch doing that, I did it and that happened so I decided to go, get a open switch, and do a killswitch.

  • hah yea..i shake normally idk y tho

  • I have that guitar!! and i was gonna do the same exact thing!! ha thanks man!!

  • hah yep no problem

  • awesome, nice james hetfield sig

  • dont those guitars already have two volumes so u can do a kill switck with those by turning one off and cycling back an forth?

  • yeah if you want to kill your toggle and it doesnt sound as clean and tight as if you had a killswitch

  • yea but its not too good for the toggle tho

  • thanks dude i seriously needed this

    thank you so much!

  • yea no prob

  • i wired up a killswitch now but i wired up a 3 way with cut signal in the middle :P but i used this example for an another guitar except that i did the mistake and got a mini toggle 3 way XD but seriouly this is the only good vid on youtube which tells how to wire a killswitch. because its not really hard. its just that you have to understand XD but btw i cant remmember, you didnt cut the Main output jack to make this right? you just wired it directly to the output?
  • yea just put the wires from the switch to the input jack (or where you plug the cable from your amp into)

  • hey - im wondering where i can get a killswitch in the uk?

  • you should be able to find it in any electric/wiring store

  • does this give feedback?

  • Sometimes if causes feedback; but as long as your careful the wire it correctly (which is several ways) you shouldn't have a problem. If you do wire it wrong you can short out your entire guitar.
