been i several places that have this commericial and also several websites that complain about that place myself included and they dont send them to u but they take there money... never again
@soccrplaya10 While not directly manipulating the DNA of the plant (or animal), selective breeding IS manipulating the genome, and thus effectively modifies the genetics of the organism. Perhaps I'm splitting hairs but the point of my original post was that this particular tomato plant is fairly old and not a "MONSANTO scary seed". You might also double check the number of GMO crops because I can think of others like tobacco, alfalfa, squash, tomatoes, rice, and peppers. So you're 50% wrong.
I had someone from Monsanto come into my biotech class. They were bragging about how they got their tomatoes to redden while still starchy and unripe on the inside.
@MrSAYNOTOGMO Uh, people have been growing these tomatoes for at least 75 years. Furthermore, 99% of everything you grow in your garden is "genetically modified". Selective breeding ensures this. So while I'll agree Monsanto is not a good company, I still have to point out stupidity and ignorance when I see it.
No dude you dont know what your talking about. i have to point out stupidity and ignorance when i see it. selective breeding is NOT genetically modifying. Genetically modified is when a company like monsanto injects a gene from a totally different species. there are only 4 GMO crops and it is corn cotton canola and soy. they have a bacertia injected into there dna that helps these plants resist the herbicide round up. round up kills all plant life nd is highly toxic to humans
This is not a new variety of tomato, if you want to try them out just order " Trip_L-Crop" which is the common name in the US, originally they were called "Italian Tree Tomato" yes they grow big and are productive, but like some have said here, they are not the best quality. there are other productive and tasty varieties, 100s of different kinds, get traditional non hybrid varieties, and save seeds every year. lots of sources online and seed traders in the forums.
Key words are 'up to'. up to 8 feet tall, up to 2 pounds each. oh well. Its 10 bucks, not a big loss. or you can pay 99 cents for a pack of seeds. lol
they are not special they are tomatos grown and used for ketchup they taste like vinager and they are not a new invention its just that no one would actually grow these in a garden and expect to eat as a normal tomatos
My girlfriends Mom bought these and gave me one-so far (about 2-3 months) its only like 3 feet tall and is just starting to get lil maters on it---SCAM
Ok im not promoting this ad, but there are 2 plants called tomato tree, the one you are reffering too is the "Cyphomandra betacea" and you are correct, they are sour, and take a couple of years before they produce anything, actually they arent even related to tomatoes, the Tomato in this ad is the same as Trip-L-Crop so you really dont need to spend a lot of money, just find any supplier for Trip - L - Crop, I purchased like 40 seeds for 3 bucks, so they not expensive.
mmmmmmmm mmmmmmm genetically modified food..lots of it and added benfit of it rotting your GI tract...nothing more wholesome than putrid intestines!

@85mariapatricia most tomatoes are genetically modified, if they aren't they rot really really fast.

yes it genetically modified. They give you a special liquid to spray on it daily.

@PresidentOfTheBlack
But what kind of liquid? Foliar feeding with fertilizer wouldn't be genetically modifying them.

This is a scam, or this is hyper genetically modified. Otherwise I would have heard of it
already. And they would be selling the seeds at all major seed manufacturers, and they are NOT.
