If Russia wants to keep its place among the BRIC it is necessary for the Donbas region (Luhansk and Donetstk) and Crimea to become part of the Russian Federation reaching 150 million people. Russia is being left too much behind on terms of population, as Brazil´s population is 191 million people (and growing strongly) while Russia is 141 million people (and falling)
So Reunfication of Donbas and Crimea (and Belarus if possible) is essential to keep the Russian Federation among the BRICs.
@trokoro so, there's people who's not happy with the end of USSR? all the belorussians and ukranians that i've spoke in europe, spit on the floor when someone confuses them with russians. the story version of them, is that russia took all the money from their banks and left the countries in extreme poverty. it's not me tiping my opinion, those people seems very unhappy with the re-attachment to "mother russia". maybe Russia only screwed some of former ussr members.
As of right now, Brazil is the 10th largest economy. Russia is the 8th, India the 12th & China the 3rd. By 2050 it is predicted, given the current growth, that Brazil will be the 4th largest economy, Russia the 6th, India the 3rd and China the 1st. So who is number 2 and 5?? that is the US and Mexico. Now with regard to the Dollar. Even if the dollar ceases to exists America along with Mexico(future superpower) and Canada will create an even more powerful currency. Search AMERO.
I do think Russia has a big advantage over Mexico that is has an existing very advanced functional market, hospitals, car manufacturers airline manufactures, etc.
And Russia has a VERY educational population.
I think when the Russian goverment gets 'financialy' near what it had during the CCCP it will be able to invest more and more in its high tech product market.
Companies can only sustain growth if they have high tech competitative products. Mexico hasn't, Brazil hasn't, China hasn't.
This means that in the long run, Russia will be able to compete with US, JP and EU markets, whilst China, Mexico, and Brazil are in the same markets as for instance bangladesh.-the mass productions of factory goods-
hmm. I am not sure if I agree on this one. GDP does not look at what you create as for money is the only thing that matters. With money, countries can invest in technology, education, infrastructure and military. Even if India per say was a mass production country, they still would have the ability to influence nations politically, economically and militarily. In the future I bet India will be able to do its will without even worrying too much of what Russia might think.
Yes, at this moment Russia has a good market system, However I dont think some of the advanced functional markets you mentioned are bigger or any better then Mexico's. As of this moment, Mexico has the biggest car manufacturing industry in North America and its plants are not just plants of assembly. They do research as well. In terms of education, yes Russia has more educated people at the moment however Mexico doesn't lag behind.
So education is not a problem here. one BIG problem Russia is facing is its aging population. They are getting old and and there wont be a force to produce. Finally, with regard to tech product market again, it all depends. Brazil has a well respected Bio-Tech Program and they even have ambitions to join NASA. As for Mexico, they have markets all over the world and their products range from Car Making to Food processing.
Brazil has a respectable high tech industry. We were the only country in the Southern Hemisphere to join the building of the International Space Station, we produce hardware for NASA, we produce rockets, PCs, top-tech agricultural devices, we have the 4th largest aircraft producer of the world, etc, etc, etc.
You sound angry, but you can be forgiven for living in a country like Brazil that knows but bitterly resents that nobody gives a living fuck about her, except FIFA and Olympic games.
@Phead128 first of all, i'm brazilian but i live in europe. second, Brazil isn't a feminine word, so is he, not she.FTW, if you really think you're right, obviously, your comments shouldn't be on a BRIC video. and i can bet you have the same or worst opinion about any country that is not yours. i'm almost certain that you are american, worldwide know for the ignorance of "her" people about the world around.other short names for you to search more. Davos,Petrobras,ONU,IMF,Embraer. learn then talk
this is dumb. it should be called bimm not bric for Russia is not to be on the top 5 powerful nations by 2050.. However, Mexico is supposed to be the 5th largest economy rather then Russia by 2050.
In my humble opinion, if I have to put it in one statement: "We want fiar global rules, not this English-American mafia. Lets split this into several pieces according to the production of each country" => America is a 3rd World Country, and such be officially seen as that.
Let's see, if BRIC had today a joint economic space their GDP(PPP) would be 15.446 trillions, the USA GDP is 14.264 trillions and the EURO Space is 15.247 trillions, so the BRIC could beat both at this.
if american medias tell you the GDP is the highest than you believe that.
if american medias tell you russia attack georgia first than you believe that.
if american medias tell you russia is the smallest country on earth than i bet you believe that too. You believe everything your medias tells you. thats the problem.
ahhh... by the way. where are the weapons of mass destruction your goverment talked about before they invade iraq??
Second, I only believe America's GDP is the highest, all the worlds goverments acknowledge that even Russia's
Third, Russia is the largest country in the world lol....I actually like Russia a lot, and fourth Georgia is completely wrong and I support Russia in the Ossetian conflict.
Me too, it's best to stay objective, there are usually more then one view on any global issue. It's good to know what does the world thinks to establish what is truth. It's easier these days due to internet.
@antiwestpropaganda that's irrelevant, the part of the weapons. a lot o countries had them. i'm brazilian and think that the BRIC, now, have the chance to beat the EU and USA hipocrisy in the battlefield of the economy.
when you control the money, is more effective then the guns. poverty kills more then any bomb ever dropped. look at sudan, congo, haiti and a lot of poor countries that don't even have AK's to fight. in Ruanda's civil war 1/7 of the population was dizimated with scythes.cool, man
BRIC should replace their dollar reserves for something real
