@Springbok295 First of all, you're probably just one of those newbies out on the backyard that don't care at all. Second, visually, we don't want to degrade ourselves to paintball level. Third, this is a milsim, as in a SIMULATION. They didn't wear their dumbass street clothes. Fourth, if soldiers spend days at a time out there with their protection and equipment, we should wear the same. All airsofters encourage not looking like shit, just to have you question our improvements.

He plays airsoft with me on the weekends and loves it, because we get to do something together where we can use teamwork, strategy, etc, and it's a lot of fun... so please, get your head out of your ass.

But I've chipped a guys tooth with my taurus p99 Co2 pistol at 8 meters range. It shoots about 300 fps.

He was smiling, until he was choking on his own tooth. I wouldn't take the chance.And I'm glad there is laws now that require full facemasks here.

I guess it's up to yourself if you want to take the chance, but be careful. I've seen people with mouthguards get their teeth chipped.

@Peteru69 I think that guy got hit directly into his teeth and 8 meters is a very close range combat, I wouldn't pop my head out to get shot that closed. By the way from that incidence I started to wear a full facemask, wouldn't risk getting my mouth shot again (Very painful and awfully slow recovery).

@twurtlearmy Yeah, 8 meters is quite close. That's why we have rules like no shooting with weapons above 330 at less than 10 meters. but my gun runs 290-300 fps, and that was just my handgun. Rules like No Full Auto within 10 meters also help :b

Just saying, if I hit someone with my L96 sniper, which runs around 400 even from 40 meters away- in or on his or her mouth it would still shatter the teeth. It ruins the day if someone needs to get on an ambulance :b

Army Surplus stores just sell them with it on it. Not really the persons fault if they don't think about taking the time to take off the patch. It makes a loadout more authentic to have patches on it, especially when you're doing a reenactment of a certain time period such as the Vietnam war. And besides, it could belong to one of his family members, so he wouldn't want to defile it by removing the patch.

@himmler251 I wore an 82nd Airborne patch and some guys who we were playing with were in the 82nd in 05 and he thought it was cool i wore that patch (because i was doing an 2002-2006 Iraq war Us army impression). He also said he only seen civilians get mad about wearing military patches.
