  • al qaeda fire department?

  • You are such a great teacher. I would love to meet you in person someday.

  • Wow this has really helped me to understand strumming. As you say you broke it up done it slow to make it easy to understand. Thank you so much I have struggled so long now I've got it babe!!!!

  • I've found that if you jerk it in the 8th note pattern you'll have a more rhythmic outcome, and it really gets more of that life blood flowing too.

Only kidding, thank you for the technique. I'm definately not sterile after this lesson.

  • you're an excellent teacher, hombre

  • You only hit the 4th string down on that D chord. I know it feels wierd at first but you'll get used to it..and when your strumming that D chord don't worry to much about hitting just 4 strings..it's fine if you accidently hit more than 4 :)

  • On the last progression, do you strum all the strings for the D Major chord?

It's kinda awkward for me to only hit 4 strings on the way back up, or hell even on the down. Just wondering if I really matters if I accidently hit 5 strings or whatever....

  • cheers mate, good videos

  • m'kay?

  • Love these videos :P

  • awesome awesome awesome!!! thank you, very easy to understand & very helpful. free lessons on your sight are also really helpful. THANK YOU

  • Is that a Fender FSR Deluxe Strat special???

    rock on!

    David Taub

  • How much was it and is the Humbucker worth it or do you just recommend a Standard Strat??

  • Thanks !!! This is realy helpfull

  • Thank You!!

  • That helps... thanks.

  • You just now sent me the same video not to long ago. You are a good teacher.

  • thank you for taking the time..

  • Dave you are THE MAN - Love all the lessons - I am a complete beginner and you teach so I can understand making it easy to understand, you put a smile on my face and LOVE the enthusiasm. Keep up the GREAT work Thank You

  • Awe man, Dave! Awesome video, my only disappointment is that I've been stuck on this exact strum pattern for about a year. I hope we keep climbing that stair case to another strumming pattern. Keep up the great videos! The good people love you for it!

  • It's the RARE person who's both great at what he does, AND has the ability to effectively teach others.

Dave...you are both. And a big THANK YOU from this beginning guitar student!! ;-)

  • Cool, this is great stuff. I'm learning to read sheet music and tabs and one thing I've noticed is how lame my chords sound. I guess I focused so hard on getting my fingers in the right place I kinda gave strumming the back seat.

When I get that stuff down I'll try to mix this in. I'm looking forward to more of these vids.

  • its time of your life...kinda...good song, good video, keep it up

  • Thx mate :D

Know I can spice up some of my plain old songs haha, Rock on Mate(>'.')>

  • Everytime I hear the words

,,hello good people´´ it makes me happy!

    rock on!

  • No, if he just did a lesson. I happen to like it when he talks, keeping us updated on what's going on. That's just my opinion, you're welcome to your own.

  • that sounds so awsome at the end

  • Hi Dave I have a question. I remember your friend Tim made some videos about harmonica (blues harp) I recently bought one so I could learn to shuffle a bit on it. But the problem is I can't find Tims videos; do you know where they are? Greetings and thx for all the lessons, I cant say that enough :D

  • Hi - I think you may have Tim confused with someone else - Tim does not play harmonica - rock on!

    DT

  • Haha ow I was pretty sure he did lol I guess I made it up while I was sleeping then :D. It would ve been really nice

  • love the class, your a cool cat.

oh and nice strat. is that an ash body? keep it real.

  • yes, that guitar body is swamp ash with sienna burst finish

    rock on!

    DT

  • I am so trying this strum pattern with my guitar playing

  • one of my students got me a hat too.........but it's one of those disney mickey mouse hats

  • whats ur brown guitar on the wall beside the fender it looks cool

  • I am pretty sure its a Gibson Corvus.

  • it's an Ovation Breadwinner.

  • excellent lesson

    thank you wery mach

  • I don't know why everyone is complaining. He's giving us a free lessson.

  • agreed

  • post some videos of your band i wanna see your band and im sure all of the other good people want to too

  • Your students are lucky to have you as a teacher. "Rock on good people!" :P

  • Get a Les paul man. it'll help ya out

  • Man your videos are awsome, but come on, teach the lesson, Dont talk.

  • agreed

  • And he should change his pick-guard in black. My guitar teacher has the same guitar as that guy and changed the pick-guard in black, it looks awsome.

  • News flash: In order to teach a lesson you kinda need to talk.

  • Well yeah but not for like 4 minutes out of 10 minutes on the video. So he just can say, Hey whats up good people this is todays lesson.. and then he can explain where to put fingers arnd stufff.

  • this is soo helpful dave! strumming i could never get...off to practice now! :P

  • i got a mexican strat like dave said and i love it , i got a yamaha and an epiphone sg

but i havent really touched em since i got the strat. its a HSS Strat so its got a humbucker. it just plays so much easier.

    rock on good people

  • thats pretty cool i got a black highway HSS start myself and i have a gibson les paul. My cousin has a gibson SG. and i got a yamaha acoustic eletric...rock on

  • i want a PRS (paul reed smith ) paul allender model . its sssweet , its sunburst purple with pearl bats on the frets , check it out at there website

  • Yeah, the Paul Allender is pretty badasss but I have a mexican HSS strat too, I like it but I'd rather have a Jazzmaster

  • stratocasters and les pauls have two totally differant sounds u cant really say this 1 is better its more like this is better for this style like for more of a metal or hardrock sound MOSTLY les pauls outpreform but for a more bluesy or glassier tone strats r awesome

  • I am gonna have to disagree with some of your thoughts, if you play on a Les Paul, you can do every sorts of music, Although a fender stratocaster is designed for Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk. As long as you customize the guitar, which means, change pickups, different whammy bar that doesnt untune the guitar, well then, the Stratocaster and the Les paul might be likely the same. A guy at a guitar center told me that/

  • I love my surname so much.

  • Thanks for the video Dave!

    You rock us usual!

  • Dave is funnyxD

  • Great Vid David

  • awesome

  • reminds me of my first week at guitar lessons lol. thanks for the lesson dave.

  • great

  • you lucky sun of a gun!lol. i miss San Diego so much! (used to live there haha)

  • My problem is I tend to strum to the lyrics as opposed to the beat.

  • .i dont know how to play fast .can u make a video about finger exercise .hope to see the video

  • david can you make alesson ow to do a dive bomb

  • thats easy

  • I bought an electric guitar at Asda today!

  • what kind?

  • D//D/U//U/D/U.

that's the rhythm a lot of my songs had when i was first writing songs, LOL.

  • great lesson but do some intermediate lessons

  • hhahha tapping like a rabbit! dadadadada
