Wow this has really helped me to understand strumming. As you say you broke it up done it slow to make it easy to understand. Thank you so much I have struggled so long now I've got it babe!!!!
You only hit the 4th string down on that D chord. I know it feels wierd at first but you'll get used to it..and when your strumming that D chord don't worry to much about hitting just 4 strings..it's fine if you accidently hit more than 4 :)
On the last progression, do you strum all the strings for the D Major chord?
It's kinda awkward for me to only hit 4 strings on the way back up, or hell even on the down. Just wondering if I really matters if I accidently hit 5 strings or whatever....
you're a great teacher, easy to understand and you go over things to give people the time to get used to different methods! Thanks for takin the time to share these, I've just subscribed!
Dave you are THE MAN - Love all the lessons - I am a complete beginner and you teach so I can understand making it easy to understand, you put a smile on my face and LOVE the enthusiasm. Keep up the GREAT work Thank You
Awe man, Dave! Awesome video, my only disappointment is that I've been stuck on this exact strum pattern for about a year. I hope we keep climbing that stair case to another strumming pattern. Keep up the great videos! The good people love you for it!
Cool, this is great stuff. I'm learning to read sheet music and tabs and one thing I've noticed is how lame my chords sound. I guess I focused so hard on getting my fingers in the right place I kinda gave strumming the back seat.
When I get that stuff down I'll try to mix this in. I'm looking forward to more of these vids.
No, if he just did a lesson. I happen to like it when he talks, keeping us updated on what's going on. That's just my opinion, you're welcome to your own.
Hi Dave I have a question. I remember your friend Tim made some videos about harmonica (blues harp) I recently bought one so I could learn to shuffle a bit on it. But the problem is I can't find Tims videos; do you know where they are? Greetings and thx for all the lessons, I cant say that enough :D
Well yeah but not for like 4 minutes out of 10 minutes on the video. So he just can say, Hey whats up good people this is todays lesson.. and then he can explain where to put fingers arnd stufff.
thats pretty cool i got a black highway HSS start myself and i have a gibson les paul. My cousin has a gibson SG. and i got a yamaha acoustic eletric...rock on
stratocasters and les pauls have two totally differant sounds u cant really say this 1 is better its more like this is better for this style like for more of a metal or hardrock sound MOSTLY les pauls outpreform but for a more bluesy or glassier tone strats r awesome
I am gonna have to disagree with some of your thoughts, if you play on a Les Paul, you can do every sorts of music, Although a fender stratocaster is designed for Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk. As long as you customize the guitar, which means, change pickups, different whammy bar that doesnt untune the guitar, well then, the Stratocaster and the Les paul might be likely the same. A guy at a guitar center told me that/

I've found that if you jerk it in the 8th note pattern you'll have a more rhythmic outcome, and it really gets more of that life blood flowing too.
Only kidding, thank you for the technique. I'm definately not sterile after this lesson.
