@FlashMcFlowers I'm an animator. If I had animated this horse and left out that part of which I speak, my peers would indicate to me that I had done so.
had two actors from War Horse come to do a workshop at my drama school. Going to see it in a few weeks and getting a backstage tour before the show!! im sooo excited!
saw this two weeks ago and found it absolutely amazing, wether you are a horse fan or not it really is a must to see this production. I own two horses myself and marvelled at how accurate and life like these puppets are. Give yourself ten minutes and you forget that they are puppets at all. A very emotional, funny, scarily accurate account of ww1 developed from the horses perspective. a real tribute to all our equine friends.
As a riding instructor and life-long horse owner I was amazed - blown away - the movements are absolutely bang on! I soon forgot about the extra legs! Magical.
I saw this and LOVED it so much. The foal is so cute, and the movements of the grown horses (the fight scene and Joey galloping especially) is mind-blowing!
It was utterly magical, moving, emotional. Would highly recommend this to anyone, whether or not you're a horse-lover/owner.
It was utterly mind blowing....they weren't horse puppets, they were horses. The guys controlling the horses just sort of disappeared and what was left was this very real horse, with very real emotions.
I've seen a lot of plays, but War Horse blew them ALL away, as well as every film i've ever seen.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It was exceptionally good except for the lead character and the script. I'm studying A-level drama i i loved the play. But the lead character was far too forced and unrealistic. The script was crap aswell. Other than that, brilliant, i want a horse like that!
@lamentes; I totally agree with you and design-wise, it's absolutely brilliant. I'm doing GCSE Drama & for my mock exam I have to write about the acting, & although I loved the play, analysing the acting is a nightmare :(
I saw Warhorse on Friday 13th November. It was completely believable. The plot is straightforward, but the emotions aroused are no less powerful because of that. An awesome production. I'll be going again!
I went to see this on Saturday 05th Sept.Extremely clever and yes you do relate to the horses as if they were real however I just felt there was something lacking.
I thought the show was sepctacular but was completely unmoved throughout...maybe because if you take away the special effects the story is too simple and obvious
OMG, they move like they're real! I am a horsey person, i'm doing an equine course at college and work with them everyday and this is just amazing! They must have had to study the movements of horses to get the movements spot on to look more like a real horse. Amazing. I love the book and now i really want to see this! :-D
yer i hav to say they'v pulled it off well. They must hav made the ppl who are moving the horses study the horses body language coz they wud fool me for a few mins. they do look real!
@stat1791 They took these puppets to the palace to have them interact with the color of the guard horses and the real horses responded to them, but were confused because of the lack of horse smell.
When we switched into the channel my mum was like OH MY GOD WHAT DID THEY DO TO THE HORSES - it took us quite a moment to realize that it wasn't a real horse, the movements are so excellent and close to a real horse.
IT WAS AMAZING! I saw it yesterday, this must have been filmed today or then, but seriously it was wow. At the end it was given a standing ovation and everything x

Everything looks beautiful... til you get to the hind leg. There's no femur, fibula, tibia articulation! Someone needs to work on their anatomy.

Although it's completely amazing that the mechanics are so accurate to the way an actual horse moves... why don't they just use real horses?
