I think that its about someone/shaun accidentaly killing that little girl and he is going to visit her grave. He has a necklace and some candy with him (those little decorated skulls) because in Mexican culture you put stuff on the deceased person's grave that they liked out of respect. So he goes to her grave and leaves the stuff, but when he gets back to his room/hotel the candy and necklace is there, meaning that she forgave him by giving it back. The gift is forgiveness.
