Personally, I'm one of those people who watches subbed anime. While most Gundam series have a pretty good English dub, the original Japanese voice cast usually carries the emotion of the series better than the dub. If you're holding out on watching this series for a dub, you're cheating yourself. I watched this years ago with a fansub with "All Your Base" subtitles (broken English) and I still loved it.
Hopefully the main character will be voiced by a woman because when Loran disguises himself as a girl, he is going to sound ridiculous with a man's voice.
@krim7 Let's be frank, Turn A is a niche series and it's not an easy sell to those who're used to the newer/more traditional Gundams. It's a great show, but quality doesn't always equal sales these days.
@Enderesonix The market for subbed is even smaller than the market for dubbed. If Bandai is worried about low volume of sales, then why not contract the dubbing out to a third party, like Funimation, that way the burden of a flop is shared (to some degree). its not like the subbed version of the show isn't going to be on the same disc as the dubbed anyways. Bandai is just being chintzy.
@MaverickHunterX3 its the only gundam designed by an american and forreigner rather than the japanese, which is why it looks so strange. The moustache is a substitue for the typical v fin.
@LordChaosJunior Loran originally was supposed to be girl. Tomino begged and begged Sunrise to let him have a female main character for the first time in gundam history but Sunrise wouldn't agree. As a big fuck you to Sunrise, he had Loran designed so he looked like a girl.
Man, I can't wait to see this dubbed. I can only hope they get Spike Spiegel's voice actor, Steve Blum, to do Harry Ord...but they can't not make good choices with this. What a golden summer of an anime.

@Buddhabright the Canadian voice groups Ocean group, and Blue Water are hired to dub the majority of the Gundam. Steve did play Char in a old dub of Mobile Suite Gundam , but was replaced with his current actor. I think both did a great job playing Char, but I have no problem with his current actor. When it comes to Gundam keep it with Ocean Group actors.
ok guys let me tell you how i got to know gundam, i watched seed and destiny first. that was the start of it and by now that i have watched almost all of the gundam shows that exist. im kinda nowadays an UC fan but i just recently started to watch Turn A gundam since i had misdoubts about it and avoided it for a long time ( damn mustache) and now that i have watched about 20 ep so far im shocked. this is great and i can´t wait till the end of the show and say "that was nice" my fav is Z gundam
I still find Turn A to be Tomino's best series, solely because of what he does in this one series. Zeta was amazing, but you still had to be let down at the cliff hanger ending. ZZ picks up only after ep 22, Victory was depressing as hell and I find MSG to be its own thing incomparable to the rest. F91 was a mistake in turning it into a film and I felt Char's Counter Attack would've been better as a 4-6 part OVA rather than a film.
Meh, the young ones are as bad as the hard-core UCer's who won't even give any of the new shows a chance. Now there are some impressions of bad. Like G Gundam. The american market was oversaturated with stuff from that series that they won't accept any of the merchandise, which is where Bandai made most of it's money up until now. The west didn't really even take a solid interest until VIACOM got the rights to show Wing.

@BlackAce1229 That's a matter of opinion friend. MSG on it's original release was like Star Trek was when it first ran and didn't gain popularity until later series aired. By Tomino's admission Zeta went far darker then he intended. Zeta would have been first before even Wing or that crap G Gundam. In the 90s most American media had mixed results with anime. At that time Zeta was not licenced, so there was not english track made. They gambled on Wing and it worked. But UC should have been first.

It was so unpopular in the states that the toys didn't sell (which as you know are the main profits of any Gundam series) that American toy retailers refuse to sell or accept any other toy lines thereafter. What I did see of it I didn't like. It steps away from a lot of the aspects that make Gundam Gundam. War is serious business and one of the cornerstones of Gundam. If I want to watch a fight I'll put on Tenjho Tenge. I feel the same about TTGL

@Enderesonix I like Tenjho Tenge for the record. :3 I just used it to make the point that if I want to see two beings fight I'll put that on instead of watching G Gundam. G Gundam just rubbed me the wrong way. I think it's stupid, but that doesn't mean it actually is. I've seen G Gundam or enough of it to know I don't want to see the rest. It's not like this series, I had been avoiding Turn A because the Gundam had a mustache. But far as I can see now it's probably worth my time.
I can`t wait till it`s released here, now that its been licensed for a release . It`s the last Gundam series to use handpainted cells, and music from Yoko Kanno, its worth the wait. And especially how ( before SEED) it seems to tie up all the prievious series. Why people dock it is really a mystery for Mr. Tonmino`s last Gundam masterpiece.
Chalk that up to the looks, really. Even I admit the its hard to take the Turn A seriously with that funky stache, but everything else about Turn A is so good, design doesn't matter.
Also, this is where Tomino finally got clean and got out of his depression. Would you really have wanted another Victory Gundam with beheaded mothers and beam sabers incinerating bikini babes?
This anime has such beautiful music. Too bad I never really could get into the anime. After 15 eps or so I had it. Slow storytelling, characters weren´t interesting enough, stuff like that.

@therangersrule68 Kinda. It's effectively indestructible, but it's not invincible. If you blow it up, it'll regenerate, but it will take some time for that. And, well, the pilot is in a pretty vulnerable part of the suit.
@therangersrule68 I forgot , but I think Turn A got destroyed in the end of the series. Its powerful, and its the strongest gundam in the franchise, but it had an equal. Just because it got destroyed doesnt mean its weak at all, the only difference why Strike Freedom didnt even get a scratch was because of his plot armor and that they never made an 'equal' to SF and Kira. Turn X was Turn A's brother suit and had everything he had. Well amost.

Its hinted that the Turn-A with its nanomachines still working at their best is what wiped out technology in the entire solar system. Thats kind of hard to beat. In the series you only get a small taste of what its supposed to do.

@Buddhabright the Canadian voice groups Ocean group, and Blue Water are hired to dub the majority of the Gundam. Steve did play Char in a old dub of Mobile Suite Gundam , but was replaced with his current actor. I think both did a great job playing Char, but I have no problem with his current actor. When it comes to Gundam keep it with Ocean Group actors.

ok guys let me tell you how i got to know gundam, i watched seed and destiny first. that was the start of it and by now that i have watched almost all of the gundam shows that exist. im kinda nowadays an UC fan but i just recently started to watch Turn A gundam since i had misdoubts about it and avoided it for a long time ( damn mustache) and now that i have watched about 20 ep so far im shocked. this is great and i can´t wait till the end of the show and say "that was nice" my fav is Z gundam

I still find Turn A to be Tomino's best series, solely because of what he does in this one series. Zeta was amazing, but you still had to be let down at the cliff hanger ending. ZZ picks up only after ep 22, Victory was depressing as hell and I find MSG to be its own thing incomparable to the rest. F91 was a mistake in turning it into a film and I felt Char's Counter Attack would've been better as a 4-6 part OVA rather than a film.

Meh, the young ones are as bad as the hard-core UCer's who won't even give any of the new shows a chance. Now there are some impressions of bad. Like G Gundam. The american market was oversaturated with stuff from that series that they won't accept any of the merchandise, which is where Bandai made most of it's money up until now. The west didn't really even take a solid interest until VIACOM got the rights to show Wing.

@Ultima2584 then bandai and sunrise messed it up by showing the 1979 original series not the movie triology but the series after wing which was a dumb move they should have showed gundam X because it is similar to wing in ms design and art style and it would have kept people interested then show the original gundam movie triology then show g and zeta gundam not ram uc down CN throat.

@BlackAce1229 That's a matter of opinion friend. MSG on it's original release was like Star Trek was when it first ran and didn't gain popularity until later series aired. By Tomino's admission Zeta went far darker then he intended. Zeta would have been first before even Wing or that crap G Gundam. In the 90s most American media had mixed results with anime. At that time Zeta was not licenced, so there was not english track made. They gambled on Wing and it worked. But UC should have been first.

@Ultima2584 G-Gundam was one of the better Gundam series. Just because it's not as realistic doesn't mean it's a piece of crap.
If anything, because it's a light-hearted Gundam series, it's been considered one of the best. Not the best, but one of.

@Van0079 With all due respect, crap is crap. It was so unpopular in the states that the toys didn't sell (which as you know are the main profits of any Gundam series) that American toy retailers refuse to sell or accept any other toy lines thereafter. What I did see of it I didn't like. It steps away from a lot of the aspects that make Gundam Gundam. War is serious business and one of the cornerstones of Gundam. If I want to watch a fight I'll put on Tenjho Tenge. I feel the same about TTGL

@Ultima2584 ...it's not a war in G Gundam, it's basically the robot Olympics for lack of a better phrase. Sure, stuff heats up towards the end, and by that point there are a few more sensitive moments.
...also did you really have to choose Tenjou Tenge to make a point?

@Enderesonix I like Tenjho Tenge for the record. :3 I just used it to make the point that if I want to see two beings fight I'll put that on instead of watching G Gundam. G Gundam just rubbed me the wrong way. I think it's stupid, but that doesn't mean it actually is. I've seen G Gundam or enough of it to know I don't want to see the rest. It's not like this series, I had been avoiding Turn A because the Gundam had a mustache. But far as I can see now it's probably worth my time.

I can`t wait till it`s released here, now that its been licensed for a release . It`s the last Gundam series to use handpainted cells, and music from Yoko Kanno, its worth the wait. And especially how ( before SEED) it seems to tie up all the prievious series. Why people dock it is really a mystery for Mr. Tonmino`s last Gundam masterpiece.

Chalk that up to the looks, really. Even I admit the its hard to take the Turn A seriously with that funky stache, but everything else about Turn A is so good, design doesn't matter.
Also, this is where Tomino finally got clean and got out of his depression. Would you really have wanted another Victory Gundam with beheaded mothers and beam sabers incinerating bikini babes?

This anime has such beautiful music. Too bad I never really could get into the anime. After 15 eps or so I had it. Slow storytelling, characters weren´t interesting enough, stuff like that.

I've never watched this. I was wondering if the Turn A ever in any real danger in battle? It sounds like it's pretty much invincible from what I've read

@therangersrule68 Kinda. It's effectively indestructible, but it's not invincible. If you blow it up, it'll regenerate, but it will take some time for that. And, well, the pilot is in a pretty vulnerable part of the suit.

@therangersrule68 I forgot , but I think Turn A got destroyed in the end of the series. Its powerful, and its the strongest gundam in the franchise, but it had an equal. Just because it got destroyed doesnt mean its weak at all, the only difference why Strike Freedom didnt even get a scratch was because of his plot armor and that they never made an 'equal' to SF and Kira. Turn X was Turn A's brother suit and had everything he had. Well amost.

Its hinted that the Turn-A with its nanomachines still working at their best is what wiped out technology in the entire solar system. Thats kind of hard to beat. In the series you only get a small taste of what its supposed to do.
